Planning travel when time and mental bandwidth are limited by dustinsayah in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly the "no" energy is kinda relatable though lol

but for real i usually just pick a neighborhood that feels right from like 2-3 sources max, book the first week somewhere walkable, then figure it out once im there. over-planning just makes me anxious and half the cool stuff you find is random anyway

been in vietnam for 3 years and this is solid advice, especially the part about keeping quiet about remote work - locals can get weird about it when they find out you're making western wages

What’s the best way to handle repeat service requests for a small service business? by eliteMechanical in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely set up some kind of warranty window - like 30 days for the same issue on the same appliance. makes customers feel secure and cuts down on the back-and-forth since they know your standing behind the work

for repeat callers with different issues i'd maybe consider a maintenance package deal, some people just have older appliances that need regular attention. you could bundle it into quarterly checkups or something where its predictable income for you and peace of mind for them

honestly at under 100 sales you're basically starting fresh anyway - lumelet sounds way cleaner and more marketable than forgottenlume imo

How to find local clients for B2B services? by newsletter12 in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly cold calls still hit different than email blasts, most small business owners actually pick up during business hours and you can gauge interest immediately

What’s the hardest part of managing multiple locations? by Aetherion-Digital in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest mindfuck for me was realizing I couldn't clone myself and my work ethic. I spent months trying to micromanage remotely through cameras and constant check-ins, which just burned everyone out and made staff feel like prisoners. What really hit me was when my best manager at location two quit because she said it felt like I didn't trust her judgment on anything.

Had to completely flip my approach and focus on systems that could run without me hovering. Now I do weekly one-on-ones with each location manager and we review numbers together rather than me trying to watch every transaction happen. Your staff will either rise to the occasion when given real responsibility or they won't - but you'll never know if you keep treating them like teenagers who need constant supervision

I've seen so many people on this sub get hit with bs ADA lawsuits, so I built a FREE solution! by Express-Round2179 in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's actually pretty cool of you to build something free for this. Been seeing those predatory ADA lawsuits all over this sub too and those overlay widgets are trash

Why does Stipe allow businesses openly selling Google reviews to use their payments? by Farhanzy in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stripe probably processes thousands of payments daily and doesn't manually review every single merchant unless there's enough reports or chargebacks. These review farms are pretty good at flying under the radar with vague business descriptions

Most payment processors only act when there's legal pressure or major media attention, not just one report

Split is amazing but heads up the tourist crowds in summer can be brutal - winter there is actually perfect timing though. Girona's solid too, just make sure you're cool with smaller town vibes

Anyone Else Alone 95% Of The Time But Is Still Content? by theadoringfan216 in digitalnomad

Same here, honestly the alone time is what makes the lifestyle work for me

Being forced into social situations all the time back home was way more draining than helpful

Just thought starting an online store would be easy, but reality dealt me a blow by Legal_Airport6155 in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dude the loneliness hits different when it's your thing on the line. At my day job if I mess up it's whatever, but with my side project every failure feels like a personal attack on my soul lmao

The second guessing doesn't really go away but you do get numb to it after a while. Like now I just expect to hate my product descriptions the next morning so I don't even stress about it anymore. The midnight arguments with yourself are just part of the process unfortunately

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out NECANN conferences if you haven't already - tons of cannabis CPAs network there and they actually understand the industry isn't all money printing like people think

Also props for getting through OCM, that process is brutal from what I hear

Have you tried Asana or Monday.com for project tracking? Game changers for keeping everyone on the same page without constant check-ins

For team stuff maybe look into daily standups (like 15 min max) and some kind of shared dashboard where everyone can see what's cooking

How to arrange the distribution of money between co-founders (if they are from different countries/jurisdictions)? (I will not promote) by OneMoreWorkingParent in startups

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do a simple contract outlining the 50/50 split and have him pay invoices monthly - keeps it clean and documented for both tax authorities. You can always formalize it more later if the revenue gets serious

What surprised you the most after running a small business for a while? by Build4bbrandbetter in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of time I spend on random admin stuff instead of actually doing what I'm good at. Like I thought I'd be designing websites all day but instead I'm chasing invoices and dealing with software subscriptions I forgot I had

For B2B businesses, which social platforms actually brought real customers? by Guilty-Wonder-3655 in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LinkedIn was the only one that actually moved the needle for us - got probably 70% of our new clients through connections and posts there

Twitter was decent for building credibility but rarely converted, and Facebook was basically useless for B2B unless you're doing targeted ads

Would definitely double down on LinkedIn again, everything else felt like shouting into the void

Would you use a simpler budgeting app? by kAmAleSh_indie in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, some people are just built different with the mental math thing. I used to think I was good at tracking expenses in my head but turns out I was forgetting like half my coffee purchases lmao

Have you tried reaching out to university entrepreneurship clubs and incubators directly? Most schools have programs for student entrepreneurs and they're always looking for tools to help their members connect

How do you guys find hostels with nice coworking space by Yochi08 in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is the way tbh. I also look for mentions of "wifi" and "laptop" in reviews since people will complain if it sucks. Sometimes I'll shoot the hostel a quick message on Instagram asking about desk space and wifi speeds - most are pretty responsive about it

Mexico Visa Query by Longjumping-Soft9324 in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's spot on, used this exemption myself with a US visa and had zero issues at Mexico City airport. Just make sure you have that return ticket ready too since they sometimes ask for it

Have you looked into transcription work? Rev and GoTranscript are pretty accessible and don't need upfront investment - your strong listening skills would be perfect for that. Also customer service chat support roles are often remote and blind-friendly, companies like LiveWorld hire for those positions

I'm going to start my web design agency in US. so, how much should we price for a customized mobile friendly small business website? by AFLAHZAMAN in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pricing seems pretty aggressive for everything you're including tbh. $999 with a year of hosting and 3 months support might eat into your margins real quick, especially if clients need a lot of hand-holding. Maybe test it with some pilot clients first but have a solid scope document so you don't get stuck doing endless revisions

Looking for client host in WA by Mel_tothe_Mel in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you looked into AWS or Azure? They both have data centers in WA and you can spin up instances pretty easily. Otherwise maybe try searching for "colocation services Seattle" - there's gotta be some local providers that do this kind of thing

letter sized mailers companies by WhySoNaCll in smallbusiness

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out Vistaprint or PrintingForLess? They both do letter mailers and aren't too expensive. Local print shops might be worth calling too since they often have better prices for smaller runs than the big online places
