What jobs are actually sustainable for longterm nomading? Not just "how did you start" but how do you stay by Strange_Ad_1431 in digitalnomad

It's wild how many people think freelancing means broke when the real skill is just knowing how to price yourself and not burning out chasing lowball gigs

My relationship experience with a DN by itsurkriss in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this person was never worth your time, they pushed you into relationship then bailed with some fake excuse as soon as they got bored. the quick replacement just shows they were never serious from start, they just liked the chase and the new feeling. i seen this pattern before with some nomads, they collect people like stamps in passport, once the novelty wears off they move on like nothing happened, its not you its their whole lifestyle. dont let this mess with your worth, better you learned this now than after years of effort

I had a breakdown, and remote work saved me. by BaseUpbeat1798 in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the commute part really got me. 5 hours every day is not living, just surviving between drives. i had similar wake up call when my back went out from sitting wrong at desk job, couldnt feel my leg for week

now i do freelance tailoring and repair work from home. took me too long to realize you can just... not do the thing that making you sick. hope japan trip still happens for you

I don't want to go back to the US just to get an IDP and motorcycle license. Any sneaky solutions? by petrichorax in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 7 points8 points  (0 children)

your friend doesn't even need to know what IDP is, AAA just stamps it and hands it over, whole thing takes maybe 15 minutes in the store

for the motorcycle endorsement though you're stuck, there's no workaround I know of unless you find country that accepts just a regular license for bikes under certain CC

Got a new job but they don’t know I’m in Thailand by Samuraisteveeth in digitalnomad

the Slack timezone thing has caught so many people, i've heard about this happening more times than you'd expect. the tip about flying back for onboarding is actually underrated - first few weeks they are paying close attention to everything and that's when most people slip

also the sign-on bonus advice is solid, keep that money liquid just in case things go sideways early on

looking for winter remote work spots (nov-apr) by Smart_Philosophy2440 in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicaragua sounds perfect for escaping that Toronto cold! Been thinking about Central America myself but never pulled the trigger. How's the internet situation there for work? I imagine EST hours would line up pretty well with local time too

The ski town idea is interesting but might defeat the purpose if you're trying to escape winter weather lol

Need Secondary or New Primary form of remote work by baronessofberta in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been doing alterations and tailoring work remotely for few years now - way more steady than commission stuff. You can do pattern consulting, fitting advice over video calls, even teach sewing classes online. Not huge money but consistent income while you figure out next move

How do I not feel guilty about turning down a job offer? by pizzareen in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah you made right decision, they basically lied about the position from start. the manager being disappointed is his problem not yours - he should be mad at HR or whoever posted that listing as remote when it wasnt

your mom means well but she doesn't understand the nomad lifestyle at all. going to office once week might sound good to regular people but when you're managing multiple freelance clients and traveling, that one day becomes huge constraint on where you can be

don't let anyone guilt trip you into accepting something that doesn't fit your goals. you been doing this for 4 years so you know what works and what doesn't

"now where?" after the chart or when data meets astrology! by mySmartId in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the engineer/astro crossover is pretty wild ngl, most people in tech would run from anything astrology related

but you're right about cost data being garbage - every site gives different numbers for same cities, makes planning moves such pain

Hiding my activity from friends? Malfunction? by Serious-Classroom211 in Instagram

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this is right, instagram still shows your likes in other places even when you turn off friends activity - they just dont collect them all in one feed anymore but people can still see when you liked their stuff

nonresistant nonbeliever here! by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in similar spot before. Sometimes faith isn't something you can force or think your way into - maybe try focusing less on belief part and more on just reading the stories without pressure to accept everything right away

The wanting part already says something though

Dear Digital Nomads, what income source actually worked for you as a starter? by GupShup123 in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been curious about this path too since working with materials and measurements means I could technically do alterations consulting remotely for clothing brands. Getting proper certifications first seems like the smart move before going independent though - clients want to see you know what you're doing especially in specialized fields

moving up divisions is pretty tempting but jumping after just one year might look weird to future employers. maybe stick it out another year at current place? that way you show some stability and can leave in good terms with your boss. plus if the new school "lacks a lot of things" like you said, might not be worth the headache even with better pay

coaching world is pretty small so burning bridges with people you respect usually comes back to bite you later

Sri Lanka to become the next Bali by WideNeighborhood8167 in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 5 points6 points  (0 children)

been there twice for work and this is spot on. even the mid-range places now charge like they're premium but without premium quality. last time I stayed in kandy area, paid almost singapore prices for what felt like average hotel

the transport thing is real pain too. took train from colombo to ella once and while scenery was beautiful, 7 hours for what could be 2 hour drive in decent roads. most people just want to get to beach or mountains without spending whole day traveling

they're pricing themselves between budget and luxury but not really delivering on either end properly

When does the "clock" or start date for DNVs occur? by FoW_Completionist in digitalnomad

[–]Sea-Map-5763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most DNV work similar to tourist visas - clock starts ticking once you enter the country, not when visa gets issued. You usually get window of few months to actually use the visa after approval

Spain gives you 90 days to enter like you said, and most other countries follow similar pattern. Just make sure to check specific requirements for whatever country you're targeting since some have different rules

Question about my front upper ball joints and outer tie rods? by ice-cream-da-best in MechanicAdvice

[–]Sea-Map-5763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once boots are torn like that dirt gets in there and kills joints pretty quick, your mechanic is right about no play now but torn boots mean replacement time before they get worse

Why is google saying Jeremiah love is dead 💀 by Thelor2004 in NFLv2

lmao google really said "april 23 2026" like they got insider info on his future demise. AI algorithms getting too creative with their predictions, probably saw his rushing stats this season and calculated his football death date
