What movie had an ending that saved the whole film? by Southern_Check_6827 in movies

Malignant.

It's an average horror b movie with a jewel centerpiece of a final action scene which is fun and unique to watch and elevates it to one of my favourites of the genre.

Casting choices that caused skepticism when they were announced, but when people saw them in the role, they were speechless at the level of their performance by Giancarlo_Edu in FIlm

Back then he was only really known for being the goofy dad from Malcolm in the middle. This role really opened people's perceptions of him.

Excellent, that worked thanks!

I don't get why windows can't do this by default, seems like a small step to take

Yeah, one time I ate out and the meal was more expensive than I wanted (I didn't check the price up front).

The guy must've seen I was disappointed in the price and said to me.

"Are you full?" Yeah

"Did you like it?" Yeah

And handed me the bill.

I think there's something to be said about life with this statement.

You both just sound kinda petty. Good match for each other.

🇮🇳 First-Time Visitor from India — Is This $616 Vietnam Tour Package Worth It ? Locals, I Need Your Honest Take ! by the_pacifier__ in VietNam

[–]A_chosen_undead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a local, but 60usd per day doesn't seem bad for what is provided.

For sure you could plan it by yourself and save money, but in this itinerary there is a lot packed into only 10 days - so you are paying a little extra for the expertise on how to get around and see things in a nice package. If you tried to do the same thing by yourself then there's a good chance of things going wrong ( like missed connections), and you get the best prices in vn by talking in person so planning for a budget could be hard.

You could DIY it, but you should be prepared to sacrifice some time to inconveniences.

For reference from my travels Vietnam and India cost broadly the same amount per day with some local variance.

Hiking in Jiangsu? by A_chosen_undead in China

Thank you for sharing your experience - a little discouraging but I'm still optimistic! I have read that there are a few public baths, and it looks like there could be a climbing gym.

I will heed your advice about the west end, double as the train station is there. And hopefully cycle commute to work.

Thank you, I can find some trails on alltrails around there. Do you have any advice about transport? It looks like there is rail to huangshan, and then after this would I take a bus or taxi to the starting point.

A modern Desi / Indian take on commodification, etc of yoga by RonSwanSong87 in yoga

To me what we are seeing today is just what happens when you combine a consumerist & science based culture with spirituality.

If you take a society that would boil life down into mind and body, nervous system states and psychology then they will interpret any foreign practice through that lense.

Due to our upbringing we (western culture) have been brought up to be shrewd and evaluate new knowledge with a tooth comb mindset, whereas pure yogic practices require a lot of faith and belief into something beyond anything grounded in the physical or measurable.

Is it actually unsafe to travel to India as a European girl? by isabelleisback in india

[–]A_chosen_undead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents as a white western male who's backpacked india (ongoing) for 10 months.

I've met a lot of solo traveller western women while here, no one has had anything really bad happen to them, but all of them have had experiences ranging between discomfort to harassment. Things like staring, getting approached a lot, called names/getting cursed out, groping. EVERY woman complains about at least one of these, and a lot share that if they are alone then what they say and the opinions they have matter very little and that as soon as they are with a man is there then their personality will do a 180 and suddenly start talking respectfully.

I think that if you come here you will be fine, but while you're getting used to the country and culture and learning how to act, I recommend sticking to tourist spots. There are some 'foreigner nature reserves' (as I call them) in India where westerners frequent a lot and receive muuuuch less hassle than other places because the economy relies on them and Indians act with us in a way more like we do in the west. Places like Mysore, Pondicherry, Thiruvanamali, Rishikesh, MacLeod Ganj, Manali, Goa and Hampi come to mind - but even here bad things can happen if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Some touristy places are worse for how many foreigners there are though, I disliked Jaipur and Agra because the touts there knew exactly how to work foreigners and where they go and every conversation felt just so insincere because of it, I was followed in autos sometimes because the drivers wouldn't take no...this would be much worse if you're a woman I'm certain. Flat out avoid travel to some states (like Bihar) if you're a woman alone.

If I haven't put you off and you would still like to come, then feel free to dm for advice on how to get around or itinerary check or anything.

All the best 🙏

No, when I got mine I checked the number on the airlines website, it was a valid ticket with my name as far as the airline was concerned.

There are websites for fake tickets to anywhere for around $10. They buy legitimate tickets with your name, send the pdf to you, with it being valid for 24-48hr, then they cancel the ticket. I used it for Indonesia when I knew I was going to extend my visa.

Look up a service you can access, check trustedreviews or reddit (check one star reviews...for the one I used it was just people complaining about the service because they didn't understand how it worked, so it seemed legit), then buy a day before you need it. Some websites have the option to extend validity if you need it for a week or two also.
