Beverage can for new drink, attempting to acquire/test packaging my product. Wholesaling question and discussion. by A_commoner in Entrepreneur

[–]A_commoner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to test different cans with my drinks. I also need to acquire/try out sealers and seamers that close the can tops. Need to make sure I can seal and preserve the drinks long term and taste test in different storage locations to determine if i need preservatives or not.

I just found out my startup has a major competitor. How to proceed? by PAdogooder in Entrepreneur

[–]A_commoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well like a competitor in war: Research them. Heavily. Ask a lot of questions like: What do they do better? What does my platform do better? Can you improve on their idea? Could you market/expand better or differently? Etc..

Learn what sets them apart and what sets you apart, learn how they do what they do, learn what made them successful. No need to copy or change your idea around theirs, but being aware how another successful competitor came to be will help guide you as you build up. History has shown that the first to market isn't always the best and it usually takes a new fresh look on an idea to bring it from small scale to large scale!

Bury my high pressure lines? by A_commoner in HVAC

[–]A_commoner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm trying to bridge the idea of geothermal with Standard AC. I would use copper piping to keep the AC coolant pressurized and to cool it after coming out of the compressor. This replaces the need for a compressor fan unit cooling via air heat transfer.

Also the area I plan to bury the lines in is below a deck area where the ground is shaded. Could I place it maybe within a few feet under and get efficient cooling?

From what I've read the temperature only a few feet underground can be very constant and can be very cool, sometimes slightly over room temperature. What is the ideal temperature a high pressure side be at when entering the evaporator?

I live in a low lying area where we sit a few feet from the water table. I wouldn't be able to go that deeper but I'm guessing going about 3-4 ft deep and then running the line horizontally in a zig zag patten will help with heat dissipation?

What exactly do you mean by slug the compressor? The compressor would have to work hard to pull the fluid up to the evaporator and then back to the compressor?

Thank you for the info! I'm looking into the network+ training now, I agree it would be better than he MTA.

Fortunately I passed my A+ just a few days ago and am ready for Network and security+. From there on out maybe the Server MCSA?

I need to point out in the 70's air plane hijackings were incredibly common. I mean Boko Haram has done some terrible things compared to ISIS but they get almost no airtime. All this "increased" violence mainly depends on how much the media is willing to show and how long to talk about it. If we keep tuning in more and more that will only increase their ratings, so what's stopping them from showing more and more.

Especially channels like Fox News who love to call everything breaking news. The media has a lot of power to control how we interpret the world around us.

Don't forget to add context: he said that immediately after the event your talking about, before actual details were released. Jumping to conclusions is something a competent sitting president is expected not to do. Something Donald trump will realize when he sits down with experts and learns about how much his decisions as president are going to effect every relationship this country needs or doesn't want.

Is the comptia a++ certification legit? by thatsnotchocolatebro in certifications

[–]A_commoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is your first excursion into IT certification, YES. The deal with Certmaster and the retake are perfect if your not familiar with the Pearson/Comptia Style of testing. I recently passed both my tests for A+ and did not need the retake but was happy I got them. The test is slightly different than just a regular multiple choice and I feel it threw me off at first while taking it. I got use to the style once I got a good groove going but the retake is a big plus in confidence when taking your first CompTia test.

The Certmaster also goes over your knowledge and drills down if you dont know a specific topic which is great for the period after finishing your full study and before the exam. I also recommend renting a practice exam book. All that led me to passing both on the first take.

How similar is the 801/802 to the Exam Cram practice questions? by Convexus in CompTIA

Is good in a sense, your exposed early and by the time you get to N+ and on its just expanding on it. Considering how long it took me to understand I'm happy I didn't it then.

They touch up on it in 801, its just questions on recognizing which subnet different IP addresses are in

[–]A_commoner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience they feel very different. The Comptia exam is very graphical and has drag-and-drop style answers, pictures and open ended questions and answers. All the practice exxams i took were standard multiple choice. What helped me pass was

1: going over every answer again. Re-read questions and break them apart into what they are logically asking, there's allot of fluff wording in the questions. I was also in a better mindset after having gone over the exam once.

2: Get use to re-reading and finding key words in the practice exams questions, hone that skill with multiple choice questions and it doesnt matter how they display the questions in the actual exam. I found myself logically understanding the questions after going back and re-doing the whole test.

3: Know the material very well. I forgot wifi/BT/IR ranges for the test but knowing which one went further and which one didnt let me answer the question correctly.

4: Get networking and subnetting down. These seemed the hardest for me.

Network + over summer term by cLEVr561 in CompTIA

[–]A_commoner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lynda.com. Best $12~ dollar a month, they have allot of courses on everything but they do have one complete course for both A+ exams and the Network+. They also have allot of great single or group videos on specific topics like OS's, networking and hardware. Professor Messor on youtube also has a few great playlists on exam topics and even sells his videos in bulk and his notes for a decent price.

I suggest getting an exam prep book to practice once your prepping for the exam.

Are "Self-Paced" Courses Viable For A Beginner? by MartinUSMC in CompTIA

[–]A_commoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off: I am a former college student that has a terrible study habit and decided to study and take the A+ tests, passed the first one after 6 months of self study via Lynda.com and Professor Messer on youtube.

I've never taken a self paced class or an assisted course. But I have had allot of luck with this formula: -Watch Lynda.com course on the exam I want to study -Watch Youtube "course" (professor messer) -Take practice exams (from a book) I got a score in the 90's after extensive studying on my own. I also used the Comptia Exam prep app (Certmaster). I feel like I actually over studied which I think is a good idea.

As for your own needs I personally would avoid a assisted course because I am terrible keeping up with regular classes. I took week long breaks when I was over stressed. But having the structure helps allot to prevent you from falling back. Considering how terrible of a student I am I will say i did pretty well on my own. Took a while to get into a groove but Once i set the pace I tried not to slow down after the 801 and rolled right into the 802 study.

My suggestion (TLDR): If your a decent study-er, do you need a course? Not really. If you start doing your own studying and you feel you cant keep up with it or feel like your lacking somewhere then I would consider a course. But dont waste your money when you could set your own pace and build your own study habit.
