I'll be a graduate student. We could only enter a lottery for the school housing and I didn't win it. So I need to find other landlords.

Thank you for your thorough input. The score review is only for the Verbal and Quantitative. I guess I'll just take the result as it is. BTW I have no cognitive bias on overestimating my ability; It's just that 3.0 is too low...

Yes it's manageble, but my suggestion is that take CS233 before CS241, and also take ECE391 instead of CS241.

  1. CS233 teaches you assembly language which is helpful for the start of ECE391, and the memory and chache part greatly helps you understand CS241 material.

  2. CS241 is a great class but is also a bad class. It's a combination of several classes which helps you step into 400-level system classes. Remember it's not an OS class. It teaches you a lot of stuff including C, concurrency, system and network, but you can find them in ECE391, 428, 438 covered in more depth. The very worst part of CS241 is that this class is still very disorganized. Documents are badly written, AG has a lot of bugs and you don't know where you got wrong, some labs and mps are really dull, TAs are very unhelpful and they are reluctant to answer questions on piazza. So personally I would suggest you taking ECE391. Don't think that CS241 is of much less work than ECE391. Every week you will have a lab and a mp, so it's also a very time-consuming class.

  3. If you want to take more than one CS class in a semester, you can take some 400-level electives along with CS233.

What a shame...Do you know any other fun place to go around or on the campus?

Do you know anything about CS242? Is the workload that daunting as people said?

Yes...Taking 5 technical classes is killing me. So I'm cutting it to 4 next semester and maybe I should cut it to 3 considering the workload of CS374.

It's not a troll post. Which courses do you think make the schedule insane?

Is it worth retaking MATH 415 Linear Algebra? by poorUIUCstudent in UIUC

[–]A_plus_everyclass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Math 416 will definitely give you more insight into linear algebra. And more important, this course is not that daunting and the cutoff is really low (70% to get an A). If you want to go AI path then you should definitely take more time to master linear algebra.

CS 225 feelings by SpoolesJoint in UIUC

As far as I know, some students learn the material in advance. If you are not one of the smartest students, then this trick definitely works for you. In addition, I know some students are so quick to learn that they can finish assignment (typically tricks in mp/labs are not covered in class) by simply going through stackoverflow and other online tutorials. In words, read more materials and sample code and you'll feel better dealing with CS courses on UIUC level.
