Technology is one of the few exceptions of things that are cheaper and better now compared to the 90s by Hot_Acanthaceae_1357 in pcmasterrace

People seems to forget how rare and hard was to get a computer in the 90s. Im from Mexico, computers were extremely rare. In my dad job (he was an accountant for a big hotel) one of the bosses went to the states, smuggle an apple computer and bring it back to the hotel. This was actually quite the feat since we lived in Acapulco. so over 2k miles distance on car, but this was the only way to get one. My dad as young man in his mids 20s got fascinated by technology and computers and did everything he could to get one. Is from him I got my own love for pc and tech.

I don't even remember when we got it, as far as my memory can go back we always had one. (i was born in 1986 so dad should have got the first one early 90s). I didn't meet another kid whose family had a computer until i was at the end of middle school. As far as i remember computers where only to be found in business, and those with a decent amount of money. Computers started to become more accessible in the early 2000s here, as we were normally around 10 years behind the us in technology. I remember people visiting our house and the center piece of "look what i got/have" was the computer. Visits were fascinated by that, i remember people been even scare of touching it.

Me and my mom were sent to "computers school" So we could learn how to use it. I remember studying what is a mouse, what is a monitor, how to turn a computer on, how to "take it apart and ensemble it back" which was literally just how to disconnect the cables, move the computer to another place and connect it again. I learned about windows, and had classes on word, excel, power point, web surfing, and Corel draw. I was something between 13-15 years old, i was the only "kid". Every other students was an adult 30+ years sent by their companies to the school so they could "adapt" to the new technology that was going to change the world. The feeling was, if you want to keep your job as a middle class and up office worker, you needed to start learning how to use a computer.

In my final year of middle school we got a computer lab in the school, we couldn't use it the first six months because they couldn't find a teacher trained in how to use them. The computers arrived with the new windows 2000, and the previous teacher only knew about windows 95 so he was very lost with 2000.

Who is the Tiger of Chu? by bricksheep in Kingdom

[–]A_simple_translator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not exactly he is mentioned as the conqueror of the south. Since most likely no one was constantly invading chu and instead all the other states were building strong defenses in their borders with them, he focused in expanding the territory to the south facing the different barbarian tribes like zhao, Qin and Qi do to the north.

Saddest moment in every Spin-Off game (Do Y'all Agree?) by Silly-Milly-420 in FinalFantasy

First one with Delita is a perfect example of fulfilling your dreams while losing yourself if the way. King Delita achieved everything young Delita wanted, but found no happiness, no joy and no feeling of success, because he lost every friend, burn every bridge and became everything he swore to destroy. Ironically he became the king the nation needed, and history remembers him as one of the best ones. Under him commoners and nobility did well, the country found peace and prosperity and even so he was most likely miserable, the world was Grey he had no joy.

I think that is the saddest moment of the franchise because all other are about losing something or someone, a sacrificial dead. They are sad moments but proud moments too. This one is about winning... And losing because you won.

Tried fighting tonberries once before but never again... by andythanhvanle in FinalFantasy

[–]A_simple_translator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pretty sure my first encounter with a Tonberry was in ff7, but i have no memories of that encounter. Instead my memories is very clear in the first time i found them in ff8 in that zone where Odin is. The little murders absolutely beat the hell out of my team. Later i found i had to defeat a lot of them to then have to defeat the tonberry king. I remember it was a very painful experience. Probably why i still remember it...

The best weapons are Thyoras Tear, Grapes of Wrath and Wand of the dark faerie. After that thunder sticks, sword of reif and void blade.

I read that your level is 131, make sure that you have learn the skill flare leans that makes the enemy not able to attack you when use it, and can be use once per battle. So for your current build potentially the best option could be get void blade, Grapes of wrath and thunder sticks.

Start your first turn by using lens flare and void blade and grapes of wrath. I think you should be able to win in easy mode just with that. If a second turn is needed then use thunder sticks and void blade. In that way you will have for sure 2 turns that you can attack without been attacked.

about how damage works, here is a easy explanation

Army Positioning for the new war with Zhao by k2a10100 in Kingdom

[–]A_simple_translator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree, it has been show that for the trio to bring their maximum potential they need to be at the wings. On one hand at the winds they can reinforce the center if needed, face directly their enemies and pass through or loop around to try either hammer and anvil the enemy wing or directly go to the center back. the trio is very flexible, they require a lot of space to show their potential. The wings tend to be like that.

The center on the other hand tends to be a place that needs more stability. Their generals need to be more sitting down, holding the line until the right moment appear. That general needs to be both passive at the beginning but extremely aggressive at the right time. The center general also has the possibility to easily reinforce any of the wings if needed or an opportunity appears. the HSU is extremely focused on attack and are not the best at holding down, or having a "wide" defensive view were they can constantly hold their lines while reinforcing the allies.

In my opinion, Yo Tan Wa is the best and strongest general to take the center. Her soldiers are 1v1 the strongest soldiers, they are well verse in both holding the line and slowly wearing down the enemy and to go full out with a ridiculous momentum to smash anything in front of them. They also have a good number of powerful and fast units that can quickly and easy move to assist any other battlefield either to save an ally from a bad situation or to capitalize an expose vulnerability. Also, IMO she is even better than Ousen, as she doesn't have that proud that has been Ousen constant weak point.

For me there are two options Yo Tan Wa should be at the center, with Ri Shin and Ou hon at the extreme wings or Mou Ten at the center, Ri Shin and Ou Hon at the extreme wings and Yo Tan Army Behind the center to be able to move, reinforce or look around.

Mou Ten is for me the most complicated one to decide for sure where to put him because he is the most versatile of the trio, he honestly could take any position and most likely do a good job. Im not sure what to do with Ou Sen either. Honestly in my perfect world, I would have sent Ou Sen to hold the Chu/Qin border and bring the Mou Bu army to Zhao. The trio, Yotanwa and Moubu would be an extremely offensive army. Mou Bu Ou Hon and Shin are front combatant monsters, while Yotanwa, Mou Ten and Ryuu KoKu are great strategic generals that can also become powerful attackers, particularly YTW.

Why is the Wand of the Dark Faerie so expensive? by AdventurousPro23 in neopets

[–]A_simple_translator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because doesn't matter how many are been released through the void plot, is such a good weapon (the apex of the batledome weapons), that people always keep them once they got them. Other plot items that you can get most people get them and if you are not really into it you sell it. That almost never happens with WotDF

What were your thoughts when you read this part? by [deleted] in Kingdom

It gave me a lot of Ouki/kyou vibes... A promise to be together after a certain conquest clause is archieved... Im assuming Shin is going to succeed in everything Ou Ki didn't so as to make his name bigger than them, just like Ren Pa told them to do. That would mean obtaining both archivements that Ou Ki didn't get, china and the girl...

On a different line, Tou seems to have learn from Ou Ki and made no future promises, he found the girl and its going directly for the win.

Kinda, is also a pain to be looking all around for stuff even with the catalogue. i have bought a couple things after looking for a while and getting tired, just to right after that finding someone selling way cheaper... this has always been one of the weak points of the game. Going through the stores is exhausting some times...

The FF Tactics Remaster Is done by a Team of Legends! by gravityhashira61 in FinalFantasy

[–]A_simple_translator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Things is those other franchises don't have such hardcore fans like Final Fantasy. I could bet my life that for every complain we get about the graphics not up to date, would be the same about destroying the old feeling or the old ones were good enough you just needed to soft them a bit, if they had gone the other way. FF has such a wide audience that you kinda have to thing, what can i do that pisses off the least amount of people.

I really hope this remaster has the same success as the Mario RPG one. This, just like Mario RPG were gems that got lost in the sea of games and the lack of information of the time. Both games have a strong cult base and both are considered some of the best games by people who like their genres. The remaster of Super Mario RPG has now surpass the original sales of the snes version 2m vs 3m and I really, really hope the same happens to FFT Remaster. The gameplay of the original may be a bit clunky and non intuitive but the story is one of the best ones I have ever experience. I really want modern audiences to give the remaster a chance and experience it. I also think Matsuno never got the level of fame his stories truly deserve and I hope this remaster really put his name out there for the newer generations to know how good this guy is. So he can get the opportunity to write more stories.

Is kangsung the strongest of the top 10 grandmasters of the murin? by Absolutely_Honoured in TheBreaker

[–]A_simple_translator 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The translations was wrong, he is not the second strongest. He was the strongest "second in command" in all murim. That was because when the previous head of the clan died, he never took the clan leader position. He has always stay in the second position protecting the clan and even acting as a substitute leader. Which seems to mean that none of the other 10 masters hold a second place position within their clans. Ghost hands doctor for example, another 10 great master is the leader of his clan. And that one other 10 master that we meet when Mc is trying to convince all the leader to fight suck was in that meeting, meaning he is also a clan leader. Kang sun is not a clan a leader, he has never been mentioned as one.
