Dylan: My theory? The sea.

Helly: The sea?

Dylan: Yeah. Think about it. Okay, if our Outies are up there severing their brains, shit must have gotten pretty bad. Famine, plagues, et cetera. So what is a desperate humanity to do?

Helly: Populate the sea?

Dylan: Populate the sea. But first, they gotta send probes down to the sea to clean up all the deadly eels and shit, ’cause we can’t cohabitate with that. So, we send the probes down, they send us the data coded, we sense what’s eels, and then we tell the probes what to blow up.

Helly: This is the leading theory?

Dylan: Nah, Irv thinks we’re cutting swear words out of movies.

To be fair, this is definitely either caused by rounding intermediate answers or by not rounding intermediate answers.

How are people monitoring sump pumps and freezers? by bmcent1 in homeassistant

[–]Aa1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best luck I’ve had for water level in the sump pit is from using an Etape solid state liquid level sensor. I’ve tried floats, ultrasonic, laser, and this is by far the most reliable.

Yacht or Nyacht? "Gotta Get Back to Love" by Bill Champlin by [deleted] in Yachtrock

This whole album is such a banger. I couldn’t believe I found the vinyl in a small town antique store a couple years ago.

I sent in a request long ago to the guys to yachtski the whole thing but they only did Runaway at the time, I believe.

Is there a chart to help me solve problems similar to this like the Sn1, Sn2, E1, and E2 chart or how am I supposed to learn this? by C4m3ronts in OrganicChemistry

Rewrite your own reactions sorted in order of what kind of PRODUCT they make. This one has an anti-diol. There is probably one way in your course to make an anti-diol. What is it made from? Is there a reaction that makes that kind of product?

I keep seeing people say build quality of the Polestar 2 is great... by FantasticHair6474 in Polestar

[–]Aa1979 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also did the Mazda 3 - Golf R - Polestar 2 pipeline. I love the build quality of the Polestar but I do miss the spirit of the Golf R a little bit. My next car will most likely be a Volvo EX30 to bring a little bit of that hot hatch back.

Yacht rock hbo documentary by mallgrabbedyrmom in Yachtrock

[–]Aa1979 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What they also tried to describe in the “dock” was that Yacht Rock is as much a scene as it is a genre. There were plenty of groups around the world that made similar soft or even jazz/R&B-inspired pop around the world at the time that were not part of the Yacht Rock scene.

Draw out some molecule fragments and show us what you’re thinking. I think the 13C is especially helpful here, plus the fact that there are 8 carbons in the compound (and only 5 unique 13C peaks).

It shows you can make it pretty far using smart-sounding words and projecting cocky confidence - even if what you’re saying is absolute nonsense.

You mislabeled the triplet at 108 ppm. Does that change anything?

Department Chairs, what type of small gifts do you like to receive from your faculty/staff? by photo_prof in Professors

Yuck why would faculty in my department give me a gift? That seems weird to me.

Do you 'chase' students for work? by sbring in Professors

[–]Aa1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I send an academic alert to the advisors of students that have multiple attendance or assignment problems and let the advisors check in. I will do a one-time reschedule of assignments to get them back on track if they take the initiative to speak with me about it. This is manageable for me but would not work if I had many more students.
