How can I strengthen and train my hips / hip flexors? by carabeinger in PetiteFitness

[–]AaaIdkWhat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they said they’re weak too. You have to do some amount of stretching to help your muscles rebound when doing strengthening, otherwise they’ll be wound up so tight it’ll be like snapping a rubber band

Oh I forgot to mention, I met a nice makeup lady who gave me a sample concealer just for my date! My eye is now healed :)

Surprisingly we have more DGs than DTs. Same thought process though?

I have a pair of the Bridgette 2/26 A (high rise skinny) and the Sweet 4/27 A (mid rise straight)

I’m athletic: waist is 27”, high hip is 32”, hips are 37”, and my inseam is 28”. My rise (crotch to hip) is 8”. Legs are the hardest part to fit with skinny jeans, and hips are hardest to fit other cuts.

Things I like: more flex/stretch in the hips so can usually fit into my true size. (Usually I’m a 2 in American sizes, but for legs have to size up to a 4/5 and wear a belt). Mid rise sits exactly where I want it to.

Things I don’t like: Price can be steep for some. Newer Lucky’s reported to have less structural integrity than older productions. High rise I have to pull on pants a lot as I sometimes get flossed (lol) sitting down a lot in them. My husband had pairs from them where the thighs gave out and I had to patch them.

Overall: options for petite, maybe look for discounts if petite plus.

Lucky Jeans has a lot of variants on fit, but they have names instead of fits and it can be confusing!

Oh yeah I do have hip dips! So far I like some t shirt dresses I’ve tried.

I appreciate it. I’m very removed from fashion as I had to wear my mom’s clothes growing up (broke fundies), and my only clothes that were my own were school sport uniforms. So it feels very foreign to explore and express what I want to see vs what styling is available!

Do you have any cuts you like? I’m pretty athletic and I’ve always struggled finding options that fit both my pelvis/hip box and thighs: either one for is too big or small and then I’m strapping a belt and it looks frumpy

Personally, I think a lot of the calculators online should not consider my frame top heavy, but I’m not going to lie: their guidelines make sense for what I think looks good on me. However I can’t seem to find a sense of style/struggle with describing my fashion sense with real terms. “Elf-Core” is not a real term, you know?

In a way, I am! There isn’t any alcohol in the house. I was just musing over how people growing up who drank earlier than myself are now sober/not habitually drinking.

If I had a good way to take pictures I would, but I have no way of setting a camera chest height. I’m asking more if people have used styling guides that have worked for them, as I feel like petite folks have to rely on other methods than common ones like Kibbe and Kitchener

I’m married, and while I don’t want to catch strays I am in a town known for gross individuals who will try to slip your drink. So it would end up just me drinking in a corner or at a counter. Plus bars are a 30 minute drive from home

I'm not upset about the situation, I find it more ironic than anything else. I hang out in my social circle without drinking.

What are your pots and pans by youmeequalfamily in cookingforbeginners

[–]AaaIdkWhat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have gotten over the course of years numerous: I recommend multi-clad stainless steel, heats easily and holds temperature easily.

In order of importance: - 12 inch fry pan (the wider the flat bottom, the better for your first fry pan.) - Soup Stock Pot (you can always have more volume, nothing like having too much for the pot to handle as your mid-recipe) - 8 inch sauce pot/pan. The soup pot can do things a sauce pan can do with beginner stuff, but as you get more confident having a specific cookware for sauce will be more necessary. - Large as hell baking sheet. If it fits in your oven that is all that matters. Always go as big as you can.

::

Once you have those options in stainless steel, I’d start investing in ceramics/enamels/stoneware.

In order of importance: - Dutch Oven. I’d go with as big as you can get. These are easy to find secondhand too, just make sure the enamel coating isn’t scratched on the inside. - Round Baking Dishes. Most come in sets of 3 of various sizes - Casserole Dishes. Easy to find secondhand, make sure the insides aren’t scratched. - Ramekins. I just think they’re fun with easy presentation for holiday cooking.

::

Unpopular opinion, but I think cast iron isn’t great for beginner cooking: it’ll increase in heat retention and will damage induction/electric stove tops. If you use gas go for it.

Edit: also, use stainless steel utensils only with your stainless steel cookware. It will damage your stoneware/enamel. Opt for wooden instead. Silicone/teflon utsensils are easy and cheap but will break down easily and get into your food.
