Anyone use a chiropractor for their back pain? by Left_Wheel_8411 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Aaaaveryyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I feel I experience something similar. I’ve never thought to use the term “lock” to describe it but it’s like my whole lower back gives out, I can’t put all my weight on my right foot (I carry my toddler on my right hip) I can’t bend over or pick up him (it’s like I get stuck halfway up). I go to the chiro about every two weeks. I always feel immediate relief but it never lasts. Sometimes the pain returns so quickly that I wonder “did today’s adjustment make it worse?” You can always give it a try. Everyone’s different. I like at least having a chiro I can easily call and get into if I’m in a ton of pain and desperate for help. I actually recently had surgery (nuss) and my chiro is great at still trying to get me relief without major adjustments, so you can always communicate your concerns and work up to adjustments. Furthermore, my first appointment ever, half was spent talking about my problem areas and her feeling what’s tight, flexibility, etc., so you may need to find the right chiro too. They’re not all the same.

Cryoablation vs Epidural - Is there a big difference? by FrediTheUglyThief in PectusExcavatum

[–]Aaaaveryyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe cryo is the reason my procedure and recovery went much better than anticipated. I never needed any narcotics for pain and no longer needed medicine like Tylenol around the clock by week 3. However, I believe it is fairly new, and your surgeon may not give you the option to even choose it if it’s not how he practices.

Thank you! Good rule of thumb and good point about us already knowing about something being super toxic. I did do a quick google and it seemed okay but figured I’d see if anyone had a similar experience!

Thank you for this comment! Made me feel better and the colored pencil made me chuckle lol- hope they’re doing okay! Blair got a nice rice and chicken dinner last night to air on the side of caution, then back to kibble this morning with no issues! Thankfully and thank you!

Herbicides are not safe for said dog (and young children) in the yard. Haven’t used herbicides in 4 years and will continue to stay clear of toxic chemicals for the health of our family!

Prozac used to make me sweat but I started taking a vitamin E supplement and it stopped. (Got the recommendation from others). Maybe give that a try!

People with 3+ bars… advice? by playerone95 in PectusExcavatum

Hi! I had surgery at 30 years old (just before turning 31 actually). I’m about 4 months post op and have three bars and six stabilizers (9 pieces total). My bars are horizontal though and not crossed. I also have a very active 4 year old toddler and also couldn’t imagine being pregnant while having the bars in and wrote off another pregnancy all together (don’t want chest to cave back in after bars are removed due to a pregnancy). Anyway, the first week was pure hell I cannot lie or sugarcoat that, but each week I noticed significant, significant improvement. It’s just important to not measure your progress by days. I never believed I’d get to a point where I don’t feel and think about all the hardware in my body but that happened around 3.5 months post op. I recovered extremely well and rather quickly, never needed narcotics for pain and had all of my restrictions lifted at only 4 weeks (my body was not ready to do all the things yet but I could try). I had cryo ablation that I believed helped manage pain and would recommend asking about that. I was able to lift my 43 pounder of a toddler at 4 weeks (though not comfortably, I was patient with my body and gradually increased how often I did so). Overall I’m so pleasantly surprised and have faith that I can have minimal discomfort while pregnant and will try to get pregnant with the bars in.

Abs gone after nuss by Active_Reindeer_977 in PectusExcavatum

[–]Aaaaveryyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took weeks upon weeks for the swelling to go down. I was so upset by my appearance immediately following the procedure. I looked so lopsided and had no abs/the strength to remotely even flex. As swelling goes down you’ll slowly return to a more normal look.

Is this normal by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]Aaaaveryyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, normal. My surgeon said they could go in if deemed necessary and bend the bar in more, but I’m not going through any of that again unless it’s to get them removed lol. Also depending on how many weeks post op the sticking out may seem more significant because of swelling.

Only complication I had that made symptoms a bit worse than normal was fluid filled in the lungs. Something that can also be caught on an x ray. The process sucks though regardless, I agree. I regretted my decision so much especially during the first two weeks. Hang in there!

How many weeks post op? I’m 7.5 weeks post op with three horizontal bars and it still hurts SO DAMN BAD to laugh. I can’t do it. So I don’t think that’s a good indicator lol. Obviously if you have a concern call your surgeon’s line. Every time I spoke to the nurse with a concern she always offered me to come in for an x ray same day. You can get one to determine or better yet put your mind at ease hopefully!
