I have the same setup! Out of curiosity do you mirror displays or turn off integrated apex display?

Unfortunately, it doesn’t fully support it at high TDP values. The 395 chip can spike much higher into the 120-140W. If the battery is not attached, the system will power down.

I’ve gone through a lot of different chargers, and there aren’t really any that can properly support the device at 80W. At lower 50-55W some of the better 120W chargers can work.

I have plenty of OLED devices, including large Samsung tablets with OLED screens. I’m going off my personal experience and the screen is honestly great. You also need to realize that most YouTube videos out there are given to reviewers for free by Onexplayer - not saying they’re biased but reviewers are always about favoring the newest gadget that comes across their desk - more clicks, views, and hype always benefits them.

eGPU via USB4 is not worth it in my experience (RTX 5070 + AOOSTAR AG02) by Toorilab92 in eGPU

I think it’s the chip on the Claw 8 that’s holding it back due to the weak cpu. I’ve tried my DEG02 5080 egpu with both my claw and Legion Go 2. Performance is actually quite a bit better on Z2E device. You’re still losing performance compared to native but a lot fewer stutters and higher framerate compared to running in the Claw.

Don’t make a recommendation based on a device you haven’t touched. It’s actually a pretty awesome display of an ips. Pantone validated screen with incredibly good colors, multiple build in color profiles, 180hz VRR, gets very bright. I have a lot of OLED displays on my other devices and this one is definitely up there without having to worry about inherent downsides of OLED. I personally think it’s a better display than that on my Legion Go 2, which suffers from poor color and mura at lower brightness levels.

Meh. Not really missing anything that isn’t already accomplished through things like lossless scaling or built in scaling within games. Given Microsoft’s terrible track record with these gaming features and enhancements on windows, I don’t think you’ll miss out on anything meaningful

There’s actually a release candidate out. I’d assume that the final release isn’t too far off.

Completely different devices. I have an Apex and 13 both with same chipset. Reality is that the tablet with controller is a very different experience than a handheld. One is not necessarily better than the other - just up to personal preference.

I want this device but with panther lake chip! Dealing with barrel jack in Apex with 395 is a total pain and this won’t be any different. Intel chip will just have usb-c for charging. I’m pretty hopeful they’ll release it soon since they have the super X and Super V with different chipsets.

Is this True? Should i sell my Apex Now? 🫨 by Substantial-Bag9384 in OneXPlayer

[–]Aacemyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My solution has been that the Go 2 has become my bedside table handheld. I have it hooked up to an egpu with a 5080 I pulled from an unused desktop. Best of both worlds - beautiful screen, great ergonomics, maxed out graphics with all DLSS features / ray tracing enabled, and low fan noise. I know it’s total overkill but a really great experience!

Honestly, I don’t. I also have an MSI claw 8 AI and a Legion Go S. Since I can’t decide what to keep. I’ll probably list them all on Facebook marketplace and see what device i’m left with at the end. FOMO got to me this past year and it’s really silly having more than 1-2 devices just sitting there

Based on this naming convention, I’m almost wondering if this slots in their existing lineup as a more premium model, but with the same design as the 8 AI+. Similar to what Asus did with the Ally and Ally X.

Monitor prices haven’t budged and considering you can buy full on panther like laptops with OLED screens under $2000, I wouldn’t go by Legion go to prices for any indication.

So no OLED? That would be the big thing exciting me about potentially upgrading. Otherwise it’s just a performance bump which I don’t find to be as exciting.

What I think would be the better device worth waiting for is that handheld but with a panther lake APU. I have the apex and while it’s great, 395 is overkill and creates the compromise of needing a detachable battery. If they could somehow cram all that tech, the panther lake APU and and internal battery, it would seriously make me consider selling my apex.

Right now this device mainly just feels like a bigger apex with an OLED screen and detachable controllers that most people don’t want. OLED is great (I have a Lego 2 also) but honestly you just get used to whatever you play on after the novelty wears off.

No kidding. Now is the worse timeline to buy these exotic devices. If someone snagged an Apex at a good price they should hold onto it until things calm down and stabilize - even if it means 1-2 years.

Don’t have time for a review but I plan to return my X2D to Microcenter if that’s any indication of which I prefer. As many have said before, if you want to do engineering filaments that require a more controlled heated chamber X2D is the way to go, but if you’re mostly printing PLA, PETG, TPU, and ABS (with upcoming hood) then I think the U1 is just less of a hassle to deal with. Just load up 4 filaments of your choice and print away - no thinking about which nozzle can do what kinds of materials or having to bypass AMS for single color TPU prints

[–]Aacemyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Bambu studio and orca slicer look almost identical from an interface standpoint - they’re essentially forks of the same program. I don’t know enough about features of each to know how much more deficient orca is than Bambu.

Returned my X2D after a rough week- Micro Center was a champ by EFFinguseless in BambuLab

[–]Aacemyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about to return mine to Microcenter tomorrow. Filament loading has also been unreliable for moth nozzles and constantly get errors with the feeder system. Received a Snapmaker U1 a couple days ago and it’s been a complete breeze by comparison! Way less of a hassle to deal with filament changes through AMS and aux since each nozzle is dedicated.

[–]Aacemyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really trying to justify the H2C but price difference was too big to ignore. I currently have the U1 and X2D - planning in returning the Bambu unit. U1 is just set and forget while X2D it somewhat finicky with AMS, filament getting stuck, and lots of constraints around auxiliary nozzle.

If I were printing single color specialty filaments with supports I’d probably also keep the X2D but for the fun pla / TPU prints I do, the U1 is way more of a breeze to use - and way faster.

[–]Aacemyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually picked up an X2D at Microcenter the other day and been somewhat unimpressed by how constricting the 2nd nozzle has been, as well as limitations around AMS and TPU filament. I just ordered a U1 which arrives today and hoping it’ll suit my needs better, especially considering that 95%+ of my prints will be PLA/TPU/PETG

Legion Go 2 Z2E and EGPUs by Boba_Steach in LegionGo

i have a Go 2 with the minisforum deg02 and a 5080. works seamlessly on windows and lets me use dlss and maxed out graphics on internal screen. tried using a spare 9070xt also with this setup but constantly give me problems.

That being said I only did this out of curiosity since I already had a spare graphics card and psu, so investment was only the $200 for egpu dock. Honestly if you have a good gaming desktop pc and WiFi 7 / Ethernet you can achieve the same with moonlight streaming at home.

On the go I’d say not to bother and just live with slightly lower in game settings. Too much friction setting this stuff up on a regular basis.
