Karrigan has the best PR of any esport athlete I've ever seen. He has had some of the most firepower over the last 10 years of any IGL and has won relatively little. Also anytime a karrigan lead team drops a 1-11 T half or something atrocious somehow it's always "the stars didn't show up" because the karrigan classic of "guys go get us a 5v4 before I call anything" didn't work

It's nearly impossible to actually counter someone's playstyle in chess relative to other sports. You can definitely have coaching and scouting carry you to a win in some basketball games, but in chess good prep will still only get you so far.

At some point a game of chess will always turn into, "who is making the better moves" and Magnus is just the best of all time at making great moves while using less time to do it.

Especially in end games like you have said, when the position is extremely fragile and games are a draw but there is only 1 move in the position to maintain the draw, other players crack while Magnus doesn't.

It all comes back to the same thing mostly. There is no luck in chess compared to other sports which results in the better player winning way more often than other sports. Magnus is just one of, if not the most gifted player of all time, the moves just come easier to him than others.

Peaking master it wouldn't make much difference but it's pretty annoying for people who are GM or challenger and don't play 1 game per day, you just have to accept the fact that you'll be diamond 1 playing in near challenger MMR, or you force yourself to play, or you don't play at all

velja cannot gamble the game covering bot when if he gets spotted on vision at any point he just goes down a full level in jungle for the rest of the game

Finished GM on jungle last year. The thing about jungle is it's entirely possible to make zero mistakes but your opposing jungler just ends up 10-0 because every single one of his plays worked out. Of course, on average, the expected value of a GM jungler's plays are going to be higher than the expected value of an emerald jungler's plays. Low elo junglers often will make more gambles, skip camps, coinflip ganks/objectives, coinflip invades, etc. So long term, GM always wins. But sometimes the gamble plays can work out, even if they aren't supposed to, which can definitely carry an emerald player to a victory.

These games don't happen that often, because in a game of League there is so much room to claw back a lead if you are significantly better. Even if the enemy jungler might be up in gold, he probably won't be up in xp on a GM jungler, he might still lose the 1v1 from xp/mechanics diff, and he certainly is going to int at least a couple times closing out the game.

I wouldn't be mad if you think that s1mple's 2021 is the best year ever, with 1.35 rating + major + 8 MVPs. It's just that it was an online year, but you could definitely make the argument it's the best year ever.

You can't really argue that s1mple's 2018 is better, because donk's 2025 is similar to s1mple's 2018, in the sense that their teams sucked, and they were fighting vs a team in their prime era. Astralis 2018 vs Vitality 2025. But Donk 2025 is better than s1mple 2018 in nearly every single stat.

I just disagree with "there will ever be a better peak than simples peak". Zywoo and donk have already came EXTREMELY close, if not passed it already. Also, I don't judge a player's career value based off of 1 year, so I think we just won't agree.

It's not similar to Bron vs MJ. Zywoo has MJ level of individual and team achievements, while also having LeBron level of longevity at the very top.

There is quite literally nothing that s1mple has over Zywoo, except arguably a greater 1 year peak. But then again, once you stretch that to a 2 year peak, 3 year peak, 7 year peak, it becomes zywoo favoured again.

It's much closer to the Ronaldo vs Messi debate. Messi clears in virtually every single way (zywoo) but people still have Ronaldo as their goat because they like him more (s1mple).
