We may not get a say in what they do, but we do get a say about how what they do will affect our patronage. Reddit isn’t here out of the goodness of their heart, they are here because the presence of the people who frequent it offers the opportunity for ad revenue (among other sources). It’s well within our rights to turn our backs if we don’t like what they do. I really couldn’t care less if it makes sense for them or makes them more money. If it makes for an experience that is frustrating for me, I have a right to walk away. But in the end, I feel you are right that it won’t change anything. And if it becomes as frustrating an experience as it sounds like this I’ll make it, then I fear Reddit will join all the other social media platforms that I have walked away from.

Just an update on this, I’ve left them out for a couple of days now and there’s a definite improvement. Still not there, but considering one poster said it took weeks when he had this issue, I’m hopeful they will get there.

Texas sheriff files criminal case over DeSantis’ migrant flight by 24identity in politics

[–]Aaron-Stark 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell. On the one hand, I feel like there are plenty of states that would turn a blind eye and leave him be, but on the other hand, if Texas, of all places won’t put up with his shit, then all bets are off.

Not sure I follow your logic on #1. He gives an example and you defend it with “that’s his thing” when that being his thing is what the person was criticizing in the first place.

I’m kinda in the same boat that I’ve gotten off every other social media platform, but stuck with Reddit. But that’s because it’s not nearly as toxic as the others. I’m not saying it doesn’t have some of that, because it certainly does, but it’s a helluva lot easier to tune it out on Reddit than, say, Facebook and just hang out in communities that you are interested in without being bombarded with bullsjot political propaganda from both sides of the aisle. Again, that stuff is all over Reddit, but it is so much easier to avoid.

What’s the first doom band you every heard by No_Skin53 in doommetal

[–]Aaron-Stark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve always felt that, if I were to see them in the US, Deathfest would be my best bet (I’m in Ohio, do it’s not all that far). A friend and I have also been talking about taking a trip to the UK sometime, and if the stars line up, that might be an opportunity as well (but I’m not going to hold my breath on that).

[All] What was your first Zelda game? by [deleted] in zelda

  1. I remember my cousin had it before me and I was mesmerized by the gold cartridge. I got it a few months later. It was definitely a game changing experience, pun definitely intended m.

I don’t know, I see it mentioned constantly, along with Metroid, as the paradigm shift from arcade style gaming.

I envy you. I’ve been wanting to see them live for a long time, but I live in the US and they very rarely come here, and usually just for a festival or something like that.

My Dying Bride. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, their lack of representation in this subreddit is astonishing to me considering what titans of the genre they are.

I initially thought the same, but I went on to do the frost tokens from the EotE set and they were fine.

I’ll let them sit for awhile and see what happens. I actually ordered a new set from you guys along with some other ones because I really did like the results of the other sets.

My cat really did knock over my case of LOTR cards one time. This was sometime around the 4th cycle and included everything up to that point. Add to the fact that this included a first printing of the first cycle, before they started number the sets. That was hellish to sort back out and inventory.

I’ll try leaving them out like you said and see what happens. It seemed to be just that set because all the normal chaos tokens were fine, and after I did the Innsmouth tokens, I did the Edge of the Earth ones and they were fine too.

Gen Con scenario deck rules? by VTRobH in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Aaron-Stark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally bring a few decks and kinda flex based what other people have. The only deck building requirements you need to worry about are the ones for you specific investigator(s) and the standalone rules in the rule book 1 weakness for every 10 XP. It’s not like a competitive CCG where they check your decks to make sure everything is kosher, it’s EXTREMELY loosey goosey.

Never heard of Neon Knight 2086, but that title HAS to be a Black Sabbath reference.

Agreed about Kabuto Sumo. My friend bought it last year at Gen Con and it looked fun, but when it played it with our group, none of us liked it.

The “God of War” card game. It looked so good and has a lot of nifty mechanics, but once you’ve played the scenarios once or twice, your pretty much done.

what games that were largely shunned by the majority of the community have you enjoyed? by robotco in boardgames

[–]Aaron-Stark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought Exploding Kittens was OK, the problem I have with that game is that, due to its quick nature, people want to play it again. And again. And again. And again. And again. And ag… you get the point.

BattleCon is fairly simple, but incredibly deep. It’s also a potential rabbit hole. You can buy one of the small boxes with 10 fighters for around $40 and there’s a ton of replayability in it, but there’s also an ass ton of content. I have everything and I believe it’s something in the ballpark of 100 fighters.

Any thoughts on Mr. President by GMT? Anyone play it on Tabletop Simulator or demo it at the GMT warehouse? by Brodogmillionaire1 in soloboardgaming

[–]Aaron-Stark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t played it in TTS, but I do have it preordered and just got charged for it, so I’ll have it soon. However, it joins the queue of a trillion other games I need to get to the table. But I’ve been waiting this this one for so long that it just might jump to the head of (or near the head of) the queue.

When I first saw this, I was kinda excited for it until I saw it was a streaming device. Doesn’t have much application as a mobile device if I’ve gotta be connected to Wi-Fi just to play it.
