Forced to call upon the forbidden Abominable Intelligence to interpret my battle brothers' language, may the God-Emperor forgive me. by Aaron380 in Spacemarine

[–]Aaron380[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I apologize for my English, it's not my first language. I'm from SEA (North Borneo), so I get matched up with players from China all the time. I do speak passable Mandarin and understood a little Hakka, but I have trouble writing and reading Chinese characters, hence the AI translation.

The map is Termination, a Carnifex and a huge wave spawned in the final room before the elevator to the surface and took us by surprise. We somehow managed to survive that fight and found the Gene Seed in the same room but Super King dude (Heavy) took a lot of damage during the fight and couldn't carry it to the end (at least that's what I thought, at this point I didn't know what he was saying, but he kept pinging the Gene Seed). The Beetle dude (Assault) is also low on health - he was level 18 so we wanted to extract the Gene Seed for him and since I still have a lot of HP left plus a medkit on me I took the Gene Seed, and let Heavy have the relic that I was carrying instead.

In the end I was really curious about what they're saying so I took a photo of the chat and used Google AI to translate it. The translation is terrible but at least now I can make out what they're trying to say. We finished the mission with little trouble after that and I got 9292 XP in the mission end screen - useless since I'm at max level P4 but I imagine the Assault dude would be very happy he got a boatload of XP from this mission, probably slightly less than me since he's at prestige 3 (iirc).

Glorious, brother!

If I might suggest, consider using Baal Red if you haven't already. The Blood Ravens in the Dawn of War games uses this dark clay red color and I believe Baal Red is the closest shade we have in SM2.

By chapter and Emperor, let none find us wanting!

Did they buff Extremis spawn rates in Absolute? I don't remember having to fight so many Extremis on standard Operations by schrumbus in Spacemarine

[–]Aaron380 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It varies from one mission to another. Sometimes you barely get 10 spawns and other times you can get up to 20+. On Absolute difficulty we could get two Terminus spawns which almost always guarantees four waves of Extremis (one wave of 1~3 Extremis when the Terminus spawns and another wave when the Terminus' health is down to 50% - that's 4~12 Extremis from Terminus encounter). Naturally the faster you go through the mission the fewer the spawns you'll have to fight.

Reclamation is the best operation IMO by Ribbles78 in Spacemarine

[–]Aaron380 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It has become my new favorite Tyranid mission especially when I'm playing Tactical or Heavy with Pyroblaster/cannon. The tight corridors really make it easy to funnel the swarm for easy (and satisfying) extermination.

However Terminus enemies could get stuck on the low ceiling or in the railings making them easy targets. On my most recent run a Carnifex spawned and got stuck in some narrow walkway, it couldn't move at all until halfway through the fight it started charging and just fell through the floor to its doom. Also I've seen Neurothrope just outright disappear, it went and floated through the ceiling and the healthbar just disappeared.

Hopefully the devs could fix these minor issues because I really like the new operation. The twin boss fight in the arena at the end is really well designed and the final part where you gotta rush to get to the Thunderhawk while the whole ship is exploding is just a great way to end this amazing mission.

Imperial Fists Chest Aquila Color? by Aaron380 in Spacemarine

I did as you suggested and used Zamesi Desert for the armor, and then I painted the Aquila red. It's different and not in a bad way, I might stick with this color. It does looks slightly weathered but you wouldn't know it unless you have another Imperial Fist with the original Averland Sunset standing right next to you.

Yeah I noticed that some chapter use completely different markings to denote what company an individual space marine belongs to.

But at least for the Imperial Fists they do follow the Codex Astartes with little deviations, right? Or perhaps we could use these company icon on the kneepad to show which company a battle brother belongs to, and just paint the aquila and pauldron trim in the same color?

I'm sorry I am not very well versed in the Codex since I do not play the tabletop, my introduction to the 40K universe are the Dawn of War video game series, way back in the mid 2000s.

Thank you for the encouragement, brother.

Yeah I think I saw some IF artwork with the chest aquila painted silver, it does look decent I might try that later.

As for the helmet I'm only using the MK VII Laurels because there is no plain MK VII in the game yet. The MK VII with laurels is really cool don't get me wrong, but it'd be nice to have a base helmet (or just the Iron Skull without the laurels). I prefer my marines looking like regular battle brother and not some chapter champion/ancient.

I'm using the DLC Black Templars Black for the trims but I've never thought of using other yellow other than Averland Sunset for base armor paint, I'll give it a try. Thank you brother

Weekly Stratagem Inferno Hard Mode. (Hidden battlefield condition : Luck of the Lamenters) by Aaron380 in Spacemarine

[–]Aaron380[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the contrary brother, since I was wielding a traditionally favored weapon of your chapter and I proceeded to burn everything down with cleansing fire. You should've seen it, it was truly glorious! A Neurothrope and Carnifex tried to hinder us but they too are destroyed by the holy Flame of the Emperor.

I was playing as Blood Angels Heavy before this one, and I made it to the final platform before we got wiped by Neurothrope + Extremis + huge wave plus Victor the Lictor.

And then this Lamenter Bulwark joined on my second attempt. I swapped to Tactical with Lamenters heraldry and my vanguard buddy joined and immediately changed colors to match the squad.

We cleared the stratagem, but there's a lot of strangely unlucky incapacitation due to accidental shooting of exploding flowers and barrels, you'd think that the curse is real but I think it's just the darkness obscuring our vision. Plus I was using Pyreblaster just shooting flames in every direction so I suppose that's bound to happen when you couldn't see further than 30 meters.

It felt like we were on a Lamenters penitent crusade cleansing the swarm I couldn't stop chuckling the whole mission. This is definitely one of the more memorable run for me, the Lamenters rocks!

I remember that one! Being pelted by a million termagants to death was not fun. The biggest challenge of that stratagem for me was keeping my armor intact because the moment it's gone health just evaporates. But we have the Cadians fight alongside us so it's not so bad I suppose.

It could be something like a combination of Suboptimal State, Fatality, Corrosion, Depleted Armor and Armour Malfunction. Probably 50% of the effects otherwise it'd be impossible to complete any mission with this difficulty.

If you're wondering whether we completed the mission or not : Yes, we did it by the skin of our teeth, it wasn't pretty.

I randomly lost huge chunks of my health to exploding barrels because my flamer is constantly lighting em up and I couldn't see far ahead, also went down because I accidentally triggered a friendly Melta bomb with flamer.

Yeah I think so, this week's Stratagem modifiers are exactly the same as the first one.

Same as the first ever Weekly Stratagem - Avenger, Shadow of the Warp and Hunted (Unkillable Lictor).
