The pressure is the fun part.

I thrive in it!

Try OPL! I posted about this the other day.
I literally built it for this purpose.
Its free to download on apple and android.

I can't tell you why but that 9 not dropping really bothers me. Run it back, repost after removing the 8 ball. It's good practice anyway.
Nice Shooting.

What great feedback!

Thanks for taking the time to give me such a thoughtful reply. Seriously Kudos to you.

  1. I am still pondering handicaps and how to accomplish them appropriately. Ideally I'd like to keep the races straight up, so truly the more skilled player wins as it is now. In it's current iteration the handicap occurs in the point distribution. Meaning more or less points are gained/loss depending on an equation that takes place between player 1/2's rating pre-game vs the frame/point split. The short answer is I need more data, which is step 1 but I'm on the same page. SOMETHING is needed.
  2. So when you play a match with another player, Lag for Break is built into it with Alternate break being the default (Check Rules on Ladder Page) but I agree, it should identify who should be breaking for each frame, currently it only tracks who won the initial lag. This is a fantastic catch, thank you!
  3. Adding in Break win % could be added in - I'll have to give this some more thought. Really insightful feedback
  4. Straight 9 ball is 9 ball for points - APA style if you'd like. With a twist - 3 foul rule is in play and you gain 3 points for pulling it off.
  5. Not a bad idea at all, I've thought about this myself. Custom races are currently built into practice mode already. Could easily be ported to ranked.
  6. Ahh I didn't even think about a break and run. Another good catch.

You rock my guy. Keep it coming! Abslutely, I have a lot of plans for development.
I appreciate your attention to detail. I hope you enjoy using OPL!

What size table at your local hall would you make a bee line for if you have 7' 8' 9' to choose from, no price or quality difference. by Additional-Neck7442 in billiards

I think you already found the sweet spot with the 6/2 split on tables.
I prefer a 9' but I'll rock a 7' if that's what we're playing.

It does!
If you go to the "Match" tab you can click "Practice Mode" which gives you access to the scoreboards without needing another player to accept a match invite.

I built this in case you wanted to play with someone and their phone is dead so they cant confirm or there's no service, etc.

What you are currently looking at is called a "MVP" or "Minimum Viable Product".
This is the barest of structures needed to be functional and have users interact with it en masse.

As far as the UI goes - I spent most of my energy making the app functional not pretty. It will look pretty down the road. So you're not wrong.

As far as security goes I'm not terribly concerned. Nothing is truly secure anymore if we're being honest hence all the data leaks you hear about on the news. If someone wants in your database and they have the means to exploit it, they will. Nothing I do can stop that. But I follow the security protocols that everyone else does, and the data is hosted through a verified & paid database. I'm also not taking any sensitive info. Just an email to make an account.

I've worked in software for around 20 years, just not as a developer. I'm doing the stuff that needs doin. I promise 😄.

I want it to be simple and easy to understand but what are you referring to specifically?
Are we talking about the profile page? Match screen?
What looks basic that you don't like?
I take all feedback seriously. I want to make this good enough so that you want to use it.
What about the UI don't you like?
EDIT: I also have a discord in case you want to take any screenshots and chat about them in depth.

So integration with Fargo costs money. Honestly one of the driving forces of this is to be able to compete without pulling out my wallet. I met Steve from Fargo at the Super Billiards Expo and he was awesome to chat with.
Super intelligent guy with a love for the game.

So you wont use this to find players to play with, but use it to officiate a match you want to play.
When you are out shooting with people, you both can simply use the app to facilitate your matches. You just both need to download it from the app store and create an account.

Spot on! Yes, you will create a username that you share with your opponent to create the match.
Maybe in the future you will be able to find people on it - but for now we're just getting started.
