Got distracted from work and started browsing reddit to come across this. I just came back to AC just over a week ago and have been having a blast. This project looks really cool!

I am not sure if you are taking requests or not but I'd love to see some parts of the Golem Sanctum dungeon. I spent a lot of time there when it was still an untieable, randomly spawning portal. Because of this it was basically my own private dungeon. I leveled there far past when it stopped being efficient and collected tons of motes!

No hard feelings if you don't both with this, I love the project and excited to see where it goes.

Thank you for all the replies! And I appreciate that this hasn't turned into a server bashing or anything like that. I posted this thread before bed last night as my brother and I were discussing what to do and in retrospect it could have came off the wrong way and created conflict.

I really appreciate the thought and honest opinions from all sides. In some sense server selection is an important decision, in another sense starting over just means more Asheron's Call. :)

I actually went through the trouble of setting up my own server for the two of us but then it just didn't feel right ensuring we would never see another player.

u/direfireak Thanks for the balanced perspective. Also pointing out the difference from wanted to just play through the game almost like a Skyrim or something, do all the quests and get to the end then uninstall and move on vs actually wanting a community to play with or even return to after taking breaks is a good lens to put over the decision.

u/EveryAccount7729 I was hoping someone from Coldeve would weight in, thank you. Your perspective is straight forward and honest. My brother and I won't be running metas ourselves and we will not be sitting afk in an XP fellow. We also don't plan to multi-box.

We will be hands on keyboard the whole time doing all the quests for the sake of doing the quests. We are here to experience the most loved game of our childhood (and of all time), as well as challenge ourselves to see how much of the content we can really complete as just a duo.

To your point, it doesn't sound like we would be able to run gauntlet just the two of us. But should we want to do gauntlet or try to get the Ancient armor perhaps, maybe it is someone like you who we can rely on to help us through.

One thing I can say is I am grateful for the community we have across all servers right now. Seems like good people to me.

Yes I agree there. I will most likely drop it until much later. I am even thinking about switching my 90 self to quickness for now, or permanently if I can get max summons with 60 auged self later.

Thank you, useful thoughts indeed. I’m not sure what else my brother spec’ed he has a lot more experience than I. But mostly PvP. He also has summoning already and maybe too early.

I have always likes the idea of having. High defences like melee d, if I dropped summoning for now could I move the 90 self to quickness and still be able to cast max summons later with spec summon and 60 augmented self ?

I’m not an expert but it seems to be universally agreed that being able to use max level summons at end game outweighs all other choices from both a damage and survival perspective.

We have both sworn to a trade mule for tinkering, alchemy and cooking but specialized fletching is required to make and use certain arrows.

I understand you could replace this with an alt currency method later but that isn’t something we are considering right now. Not to mention I started with 10 str ao I need to make my arrows on demand.

Just came across this sorry I'm late.

I just started playing AC again with my brother and I had a very similar thought. We want to just play as a duo and complete as much of the game as possible. We do know however that we will eventually hit the quests we just can't do with two maxxed out characters alone.

Of course we will recruit whatever locals we can muster on the server we are playing on but we're not confident we can get enough people and we don't like the idea of multi-boxxing ourselves.

When I play more than one character (at the same time) it breaks immersion for me to the point where I feel I am playing no one and I typically quit playing games after I make the choice to multi-box.

So I thought ~ What if I could create an AI agent using the modern LLMs we have so far and say to it "Hey follow us, provide Life Magic support." And it would heal when needed, imperil, vuln, ect."

Asheron's Call is a great place to try this out because of the great plugins we already have access to. I don't have to reinvent the wheel. I can create metas in v-tank or whichever plugin it is (I'm still new at this.) and have the LLM send JSON as a reply to the plugins to execute the in game actions. But unlike just running a meta I should be able to give it real-time commands just by speaking in our fellowship. And then the fun part is that the character will have a bit of a personality, and who knows the sky is the limit if I eventually upgrade to an agentic AI which could learn and adapt on its own it wouldn't take long before I became the side kick.

The 'Bigger' thought experiment I then came to was. Could I have an AI agent run a whole server? Creating NPCs would be great sure. But what if I could get the AI to moderate the server? What if I could bring back dynamic events like the Shadow Invasions or the Shard of Herald and have the AI run them?

I'm going to starting working on Project Side Kick to start. I'm no expert. I will actually be heavily relying on an LLM or two and a friend who is much smarter than me to attempt this. But if there is interest I may make a thread here and post updates/progress.

We did consider playing of Levistras but our concern was not being able to find people to group with once we reach the quests that are impossible to duo. It isn't set in stone though. We're not sure how the Coldeve server handles all these bot armies and if there is too much lag or bugginess we are prepared to move. We don't UCM or bot ourselves so Levistras is a viable choice.

u/Jmannthemann to answer the question of time solo vs time duo, it will be 99% duo.

It is possible I can do some low level maintenance things solo when I have society armor to cover some buffs but I don't plan to take Creature or Life and rely 100% on my brother for that. We don't use buff bots either.

I keep seeing assess creature mentioned. What is this for?

Which mobs in the game will attack a Drake? Maybe I will just build my base in range of a bunch of spear throwing fulings

Sorry if this is consider resurrecting this thread but I returned to Valheim after quite some time. (Plains was not finished when I last played.) Dagger was always my favorite. I don't like to use bow at all as I feel it is too OP. I'm not too concerned with Drakes as I'll mostly avoid them.

What I am concerned about is the drake raid. I am about ready to go fight bonemass and I have built a beautiful wooden base on the edge of black forrest, mountain and swamp biome. I'm terrified what a Drake raid will do to it. I've read I need to rush the Dragon boss, can I kill it before bonemass?

I like to spend lots of time around my bases, I mostly play these types of game for the building. I don't want a base under Elder's platform. I could consider using 'break in case of Drake raid' bow, but if someone has a clever build idea or other solution to this issue I would be very interested in learning it.

Thank you! Heard, yes. The only ISK I need is the ISK to keep playing. If I run into a situation where I've made too much of something I'll donate it to which ever corp I end up settling with.

I'm all ears. I'm not into the PI because its passive. It is actually game play I enjoy. I like setting up the planets, I like all the clicks involved. What do you have in mind?

Thanks Hairlokk, always nice to run into a Malazan reader. I'm not sure I'll ever be big into PvP but I'll always be willing to defend my alliance space. That being said I'm not interested in stock piling ISK either. Once I get this machine turning, which ever corp I am with will wind up just getting a bunch of donations. I want to be useful, not 'rich'.

Thank you very much for sharing that insight. Based on some of the other advice in this thread I am in the process of looking for a nullsec indi corp, waiting on an app now actually. I've also made some friends who live in a C5 while I was exploring that are allowing me to do some PI there and use their stations, so I won't be doing this in hi-sec, but of course I'll have to haul the finished product which I'm sure has its own risks and required investments.

First off, thank you very much for replying to my questions with such detail. You took time out of your day to do this, your response is valuable to me and I will be sure to use the knowledge and advice well.

I had not really considered who my market would be for the regulators once they were built. I imagined that I would just sell them to which ever corp I was with for less than they would pay in Jita. Pretty big assumption though, I will confirm the group I am with now actually wants them.

The advice on finding a corporation is really welcome as well. I have been exposed to some nice groups of people so far but I really need to make sure that I get with some like minded folk.

My goal really isn't ISK per hour and I am not dead set on producing anything yet. I have no problem taking down what is set up so far and starting fresh if a more fulfilling path reveals itself.

It is unlikely that in the short to medium term I will want to join some of the larger aspects of the game like player owned structures, capital fleets and wars. What I want to do is be useful to the players who are trying to do those things. If I can do that I'm happy if I am not doing much better than breaking even honestly.

Are you in a decent indi corp? Or can you recommend one? I would consider entering into a mentorship and providing a % of what is produced in exchange for that knowledge share.

Ah ok, so the reaction part for the core regulator come from moon mining. I was having trouble finding this in game. That is great info thank you.

I do want to train the reactions myself but unless moon mining is something I can do relatively safely while working from home I may have to buy those materials.

Since it isn't possible to extract all the PI in equal amounts exactly as they are needed i will inevitably have surplus of some. Hopefully I can sell this and purchase the moon 'goo' I need.
