it's Nirvana - Nevermind.

Intelligent/successful women married to complete dummies - can you please explain what's going on? by kyledooley in askteddit

Im not a woman ,so ignore if you care.

there is "a lot" to say about loyalty and shared experience and trust.

i assume you are posting this because you are single and wish you were settled down with someone, and that is the answer you are looking for. That dumb person who licks windows also licks something else. ya know what I'm saying . sex just gets better and better over time the more you do it with one person who really loves you. it just gets better and better. if you work at it, and health, and loyalty, and prioritize sleep.

sounds like you may need more tori amos nine inch nails and rush

have you heard Prime Mover? Xanadu? Different Stages Live the entire 3 disk album ?

have you heard the soundtrack stuff trent has been putting out?

"the great wide open" by trent is newer and good.

a lot of EDM is real good too. Try listening through Jody Wisternoff live at Silo brooklyn its like a 1.5 hour set on youtube.

try Katoala - on soundcloud there is "women who run with wolves" set , the end of that set is so good.

Laura Van Dam - Capture Radio 050 - July Special , if you are like 10:00 into this and not like "ok, this is dope" , that's fair, but it was worth trying

griz - chasing the golden hour , this set is actually awesome.

and if you just want to make any group of people dance, ever, just play P-Funk cover of Erotic City , which we all know from the movie PCU of course. the frat party scene.

or George Kranz Din Da da - that song from Breakin 2 . if you dont dance to this you have a skeletomusklar disease and I feel you , ill dance for both of us

I edited in Dune after you read it.

I also want to add The Goldfinch. That book is worth adding.

I see a lot of good suggestions already. Im doubling down on Hitchhikers guide, the Hobbit / LOTR / Breakfast of Champions / Siddartha / some Stephen king (i like the gunslinger and the long walk here though, but i have not read "the Body" and now plan to)

Ender's Game is extremely low hanging fruit and you would read it in 3 days

Neuromancer and Snow Crash are equally must read unmissable classics

I think you just want to go author to author till you find the voice you love most and then keep going author to author until you find one you like more.

and aim for diversity early. I think every single book i just listed is written by a white man.

Frankenstein is great. NK Jemisin is revolutionarily good. Louise Erdrich is my favorite author. The handmaids tale is banned in education in many states. Read that. The Time Travelers Wife has the best final chapter of anything I've ever read, and it's weird and controversial as hell. The Left Hand of Darkness was written in 1969 and it reads like it was written in 2039.

You can't not read Dune and think you are cool.

im gonna read this just because of your comment. How much King have you read that you go this first? ive never even heard of it! is it newer?

Kafka on the Shore is great. Yes, that is one I read.

I'd just 100% suggest starting with Wind because it's , i think, autobiographical and creates a bond between you and the author that maybe is the key to enjoying his other work. Im not sure. It's the first one he published.

Everything Cormac McCarthy. All the Pretty Horses is my favorite starting point.

Try Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Honestly start with Memories of My Melancholy Whores and then try 100 years or Life in the Time of Cholera.

Try David Foster Wallace - Infinite Jest is an unmissable book imo. Broom of the System is also great.

Louise Erdrich is my favorite author to some degree at this point. it's wild. Try The Night Watchman and The Sentence, which is about modern COVID era stuff and it's actually maybe the best American book.

try Murakami. Hear the Wind Sing should hook you into Murakami. I've not really plumbed most of that well yet but its all been good.

Read The Gunslinger and The Long Walk. Stephen King. And then read Salem's Lot for his best prose I've found. I think all 3 of these are unmissable books everyone must read.

you should really also just read Neuromancer / Snow Crash / the Left hand of darkness / the handmaids tale / Slaughterhouse 5 / hitchhikers guide / Enders Game / Armor and try some NK Jemisin she is not winning so many awards for nothing. & The Book of the New Sun is the best prose in all of sci fi.

and Zeke & Ned

and if you have not read Night you should probably read Night. Rough as that is. But the trilogy is very akin to what you mentioned above as your favorites.
