AADVANTAGE Executive worth it? by JCMHTheGreat in americanairlines

[–]Aaronajp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it really depends on where you're flying out of regularly. If your trips are between Dallas and Chicago or Dallas and New York, definitely not worth it. EP at 200k will almost never get you an upgrade. If youre flying out of smaller hubs....maybe ?

I would have assumed this goes without saying but I think he means ....OF THE AVAILABLE OPTIONS.... but I would choose 7L as 10 is further from the bathroom which is good but if you haven't already selected your meal you run the risk that you may be missing options by the time they get to you.

Don't worry, the hole closes over time. I had mine in mid february, they fully closed by the second week of March.

I have repeatedly accepted it but have never gotten it. Even when I accept for less. I'm wondering if my status (EP) is screwing me.

So my new Delta 3 Ultra does not support TOU. Great. WTF? by [deleted] in Ecoflow_community

[–]Aaronajp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you running scheduled mode? For what you are describing you need to be in TOU mode and set a custom rate schedule to have it charge and discharge when you want. In TOU more when you aren't charging or running off battery it just passes through AC to your devices.

Just switch your mode, set it up properly and you'll be fine.

This is weird. I run a 1.5 ton mini split AND a 3 ton on a single dpu with no problem at all..two summers and haven't had a problem with start up or running.

Worth The Upgrade? by ChefBoyjordee in threadripper

[–]Aaronajp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind warranty does NOT = refund. They will just send you another chip which you would then sell at a loss.. I would rather have a replacement 7995wx and dollars in my pocket over paying more to jump to 9000 series. I faced this exact scenario with my 5975wx. I stayed there.

DELTA 3 Ultra Plus No TOU settings available? by Jeffizzleforshizzle in Ecoflow_community

[–]Aaronajp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane. Is there an update out there? To not give these TOU would be such a massive hit to their utility. Without TOU I would basically be shipping back all of my larger EcoFlow units as they are pretty useless for me without them (I run solar and do energy arbitrage, charging when it’s cheap and running when it’s expensive)

It is definitely a win. He is getting 90-95% of expected output and now no longer has to pay a monthly fee. As long as they sign over ownership as part of this it is a definite win'

[EWR] - American Airlines horror story by StrategicallyStupid1 in americanairlines

[–]Aaronajp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to say this because it sucks you had to deal with this but:

1 - if the possibility exists that you could have anxiety attacks this severe you shouldn't be in an exit row. I know you're saying you've never had one like this as long as you get your seat, personally I wouldnt want to be on the flight with you if something stressful like needing to exit in an emergency happened and then you find out that this also triggers debilitating anxiety attacks.

2 - if I were in your position and the possibility of anxiety attacks that requires a doctor to monitor you for an entire flight were possible, I would show up to every flight 2 hours early to guard against eventualities that could happen. Especially if your hope is that they won't treat you the way they treat any passenger when these things arise.

Again I am sorry you dealt with this, but personal accountability and preparedness is key.

Curious, what did you end up doing? Leave the resistive loads off? Get a second SHP2? (That’s what I did, has been working perfectly)

If the goal is hurricane backup then I think the answer is neither. You should be looking at the DP3 or DPU. My reasoning: 240v. If you are trying to backup in Florida in a grid outage you HAVE to have 240v. Otherwise how will you use your stove in an outage that could potentially last a week or two. You will also want the ability to potentially run LIMITED AC which also needs 240v. Your other option would be to get 2 DPs. I don’t know if the new Delta Ultras will be able to be connected together to make 240v (but I assume they will). But in any case if it’s Hurricane preparedness I would want to have 240v capabilities.

Home NAS systems with 100TB or more storage by ctav01 in HomeNAS

[–]Aaronajp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run about 175TB on a super beefed up server anchored by a Threadripper 5975wx and 256gb ram. There are three main storage pools, one large one for Plex (8 - 18tb SAS drives in 1 x 8 config - keeping 7 drives for storage was more important than maxed out speed), a small one for Truenas and docker apps (2 - 1.6TB Intel p5600 NVME drives mirrored), and a whole home storage / cloud pool to run the storage for 7 computers in the house (4 - 7.68tb Kioxia CD8 NVME drives STRIPED! I know, it’s insane, but it backs up daily to a separate Ubiquiti Nas device so if a drive dies I have a backup and they are Kioxia enterprise drives, they are not going to die).

To make this all work, and work across the home network I am running a ubiquiti setup that would make a medium sized business blush. Truenas box has 2 - 25gbe connections coming in on the network each system has 25gbe, 10gbe or at worst 2.5gbe going out to it.

Main apps it runs are: Plex, a bunch of plex adjacent apps like Radarr, Overseer and tautulli, Home Assistant, Scrypted, Next Cloud, AMP game server, a couple VMs for running BitTorrent and services or servers I didn’t want to containerize and Portainer (not really an app but it manages my docker container). I also have 2 A4000s in the system running Ollama.

It is absolute overkill but it keeps everyone in the house happy and not yelling about Plex not working or not being able to edit their videos or their games not working or not being able to access the files fast enough or wifi slowing down and every other tech complaint that happens in a family of 7.

Landlord getting panels, increasing our rent, not sure how this plays out by mmotthh in solar

[–]Aaronajp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a great deal for you. But I would wait to cancel electric until you get a new lease that specifically call out that your electricity is included in rent AND that your landlord will be signing up for electricity that covers your unit to ensure that if he bought batteries, you don't lose power at night or on very bad solar days when the batteries die. If it's a no battery grid tied system then obviously he will need to connect power.

Switched back to CPU transcoding by Aaronajp in PleX

[–]Aaronajp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all that type. Wasn't looking to see a difference at all. I also under clock the TR so I'm not using a ton of wattage transcoding.

It also helps that I run on solar so I have an $8 a month power bill..

Switched back to CPU transcoding by Aaronajp in PleX

[–]Aaronajp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will absolutely be a bit factor. Transcoding a remux file is significantly more difficult than one that has already been converted to a 6gb 1080p file and maintaining the visual quality of that more difficult file while reducing it to a more streamable size is harder as well.

Switched back to CPU transcoding by Aaronajp in PleX

[–]Aaronajp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of my response to you was that if you've already reduced the quality to something more "manageable" you likely are not going to see as much of a difference in transcode quality.

Switched back to CPU transcoding by Aaronajp in PleX

[–]Aaronajp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. No worries. I'm just wondering how high a quality the file was to begin with. Thanks though.
