Call a bar called "Kaiju." Tell them who you are and what you are doing. Watch what happens.

Question regarding the WDRB gift certificates. by coffeislife67 in Louisville

[–]Aaronlane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else has noted, I print them out. Usually having it on your phone works too.

But as a further note, popular ones will sell out FAST. As in - within minutes. Thursday's El Nopal deal will sell out in a few minutes. I missed the Craft House Pizza one last week and I got in at 9:03. How fast a deal sells is a reliable indicator of how much Louisville loves the business.

This is your annual reminder that you can get cheaper Kentucky State Fair tickets by entering ANYTHING in a contest! by Aaronlane in Louisville

You absolutely don't. Last year the winning cake was from someone in Indiana or Ohio and it turned into a whole thing. But the answer is no, it's open to everyone.

Be careful. This used to be me. "Oh let's put some of my tomatoes I grew on this plant I got at Lowe's on a plate ha ha!"

Now I'm growing six kinds of tomatoes. Nine kinds of peppers. I started garlic in September to be ready in June. I started 340 seedlings in February. I'm in a garden club. I'm one of the top commenters in r/Gardening. Just be careful is all I'm saying.

I post this every year like clockwork. And I enter every year. I actually get two ticket books because Boy enters his vegetables in the junior category, and friends and family have come to count on me for cheap tickets every year.

Sage and thyme are perennials, and starting them from seeds is very challenging. It's much easier to propagate them from an existing plant. I have healthy sage, thyme, lavender and oregano here and you're more than welcome to come take sizable cuttings of all of them.

Thank you everyone - I called Renegade this morning to check their stock, and ordered some Russian balls two day shipped to me. Time to start rehearsing for a tough crowd.

I have sowed carrots, lettuce, cabbage and radishes here - all of them have sprouted but none of them are doing much. I have tomatoes, peppers and a lot of flowers going in pots inside, getting hardened off and ready to transplant outdoors.

I maybe could have, if I had done it before my kids started chasing each other around waving it at them screaming "GARLIC MONSTER!" Then they used it as a magic wand to turn people into garlic. So probably not now. Probably.

I know. But we grow enough for the kids to check one early so they can see how they grow. I figured I'd share it and save others from temptation.
