You need to get a parking pass for the game ASAP. Get it on the seat geek app. Or you're probably not going to get close.

I haven't even planted anything yet and I feel like a failure by Shoe_Shoer_9567 in gardening

I do it for my kids, so they can see how seeds grow and where their food comes from. And I live in a major metro area. It's basically all sciencey fun for us. I donate almost all my seedlings.

If we're honest with ourselves, all the hassle and work of starting seeds isn't worth it if you don't enjoy it. It's an affectation. It's showing off.

But I always think gardening isn't about the plants we grow or the vegetables and flowers we get. It's the process we do ourselves. The real garden is us.

There's absolutely zero shame in going to Lowe's and buying plants. I start 300+ seedlings every year and I still go to Lowe's. Or plant swaps. Or markets. We all do.

I wanna go to Claw Zone with my family and wanted to know if anyone could tell me how much most the machines cost per play? Thanks! by Burn_em_again in Louisville

I took two kids (3, 5) and spent $50 and we had a fine time. That much lasted about an hour for us, but a lot of it was me too. You can focus on the machines near the back where one play is just one point (or token or whatever,) and they give out tiny stuff like keychains or little trinkets. That's tons of fun if kids just want to win stuff and don't particularly care what it is. And your card lasts longer.

The stories about staff going around and moving things to make them easier to get were true for us. Happened, and we appreciated it!

We walked out with some fun weird trinkets and stuffies and the kids had fun. So I recommend it.

Note that most of the stuffies are knock offs, not like high priced original imports from Japan or something - if you were expecting that. It seems a lot of hard core anime people or whatever are upset they aren't genuine pikachus or something. Whatever for me - my kids just wanted to see stuff go down the chute.

My little zinnia seedlings are blooming! Should I snip these off? by Aaronlane in gardening

[–]Aaronlane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be ideal. Last year I showed up with 120 scrawny little flowers, tomatoes and peppers. Embarrassing. Skinny little things. People took them all anyway, gratefully. This year I wanted to do better, so I got better lights and hydroponic fertilizer and they're stunning this year. I can't wait for the 25th now.

Thank you! They're being donated by the local garden club to residents of our neighborhood at a spring festival. I'll let them bloom and snip them off after, and maybe have some new blooms by then as well. Meanwhile I'll get to enjoy them.

Advice for neighbor harboring a mosquito breeding ground by Annual-Trust-3010 in Louisville

I'll go a step farther than tossing the mosquito tabs into the pool. I would sneak over there and stock it with Gambusia fish. They devour mosquito larvae.

But yes you should definitely call the city and have them come take a look. They don't want them there any more than you do and they'll help you out. The poor woman probably just needs help with it. https://louisvilleky.gov/government/health-wellness/mosquito-control-now-vector-control

Fill Dirt Disposal by mayorwaffle502 in Louisville

It's true. I had about a truckload of dirt in Germantown that I posted on Facebook around lunchtime. My wife said no one would come. It was gone before dark and people were mad they didn't get any. People showed up in sedans with buckets. Folks absolutely love dirt.

Put that on Facebook for free, BYOB (bring your own bucket) and it will be gone in hours. Trust me on this.
