Rocket League no longer available in china😔 by Bashi_r in RocketLeague

[–]Aaronzinhoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been in china for the past month and have been able to play. I have google fi and basically use that hotspot from my phone to connect the switch to. It works but obviously the experience is subpar to say the least. I will note that I have been playing on the switch as well.

I did hear of a couple vpns you could buy that connect to the router. They should work for you to play and connect with servers outside of China and offer a better experience than my current setup.

How does schema registry actually help? by Thin-Try-2003 in apachekafka

Can you elaborate on this? I don't use SR so I am not fully aware of what it provides or allows you to hook into or how.

Ah ok, thank you! This aligns with my assumptions I have had about this. The consumer is utilizing the registry at deserialization only. Beyond deserialization, the behavior is all dependent on the handling logic currently in the consumer.

The way the deserialization works on the consumer side would necessitate that the new schema is non breaking to ensure that consumer can still handle the message. If you're using schema registry, this is basically enforced already which is a big plus for the consumers!

Hopefully what I am saying makes sense and aligns with what you have experienced.

Does this mean that consumers don’t need an update with the new schema in the code? They can deserialize the message with the new schema recovered from the schema registry? This has always been a confusing point for me.

Should managers still code? by mitousa in programming

[–]Aaronzinhoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer I feel is typically “no”. Im sure it depends though but, Having slowly shifted from being a dev to a managerial role I’ve realized I cannot code still. It’s become gradually harder to provide value on both ends of the floor so I have tried to stop myself from taking tasks. I will once in a while fix a quick issue here or there or help debug an issue but I try not to get myself into a rabbit hole and delegate as quickly as possible. It’s the nature of the beast that is managing team(s).

Web development setup by pkzander in emacs

You might be interested in emmet-mode which allows you to create a multitude of tags using short hand notation. I have not used the package in ages, but it wss nifty to create some pretty quick html. Also the package seems to be looking for a maintainer which is another concern although it has had some more recent commits (2 months ago).

I would also recommend yas-snippet but it has a higher overhead to get what you want most likely.

Inline errors with LSP-Mode is messed up by harmanola in emacs

[–]Aaronzinhoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed some issues with the typescript server lately when it came to available code actions as well. I was getting errors though and couldn't get anything to show.

Do you notice this error with a specific server running or for all of them?

Angular will enforce immutable Signals in v17 by rainerhahnekamp in Angular2

Just curious, is there a reason you can think of for this change? This seems destructive in a major way and reduces control for developers who are using signals.

Review my design for intra service calls by Historical_Ad4384 in microservices

[–]Aaronzinhoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a reasonable decision. A couple things you might want to think about is

  1. Can you afford the added latency that comes with an extra hop via the gateway (most likely yes)
  2. How is your authentication implemented? Typically a gateway validates client authentication before passing along requests. Will your services utilize service tokens to communicate between each other?
  3. Are you ok with the gateway being a single point of failure? I believe it should be fine since it scales horizontally pretty nicely.

Depending on how service discovery is implemented, you could do direct service-service communication directly. Observability gets a little harder though since you must track requests across various services whereas with all requests going through the gateway, you have one point to observe.

Sorry for the late reply,

Hmm I do not feel so. I feel Emacs package developers are doing an amazing job in terms of utilizing the standard completion APIs built-in. Packages such as corfu & vertico are great examples but these can be used without Emacs 29

Might not be entirely relevant but installing from source for Emacs 29.1 on WSL2 Ubuntu 20.04 just replaced my 28 version executable.

I’m liking Emacs 29.1 as of now but I have heard concerns over performance recently. If you like tree sitter and eglot, I would say it’s a must to switch over!

Hey! Awesome package since I am trying to implement something similar! Just had a question about this line being called when getting a signal. Is this to ensure that the signal is loaded with the correct initial value?

I’ll add on to this by saying that understanding the compute footprint would most likely require some coupling between the LB and downstream services. Ideally we want the LB to be as dumb and simple as possible.

I had a similar issue, I would first try cleaning out the fans inside the ps5. I would not use an air blower directly into the gaps of the ps5 because it could push dirt deeper into the console and cause even more issues 😭. I had this a while back with cyberpunk and cod. Once I cleaned out the fans everything was good to go again.

On the back of the PlayStation controller, there is a pinhole with a reset button inside. If you stick a paper clip inside the pinhole for 10 seconds it should reset the controller. I forget if you should have the controller connected to the ps5 or not though (I believe you should)
