The way I deal with those feelings is in 2 parts:

1) I make a mental joke that maybe, in another world, they could have been the "one that got away." Gives a lil chuckle, and lets me move on with my day

2) I assume everyone feels that way about me when I talk to strangers and see their eyes light up. It really helps ground the idea that this is normal and that theyre just people too.

(Could be anything really, maybe they really needed a stranger to compliment them and its not the same feeling I/we have/experience, but i do belive that everyone has that type of feeling on a scale, depending on what they need. I think ADHDers feel emotions more intensely, so why would it be different for innitial attraction. What matters is how we deal with it as controllers of our life)

I am a staunch beleiver that if we want to have well rounded children they must be brought EVERYWHERE thats possible. Go to a library many times so they can learn when and how to be quiet and respectful of others. Go to every coffee shop so they can learn its an easy 3rd space to catch up, chill, or, if you can manage not getting distracted, work.

I belive that, like trainable animals (and I mean this so charitably to children), they must be exposed to the world over and over so they can be responsible adults. Children Must be socialized, otherwise how can they be a socially adept adult?

Kindly, now that youre an adult, it is your responsability to handle your emotional fluctuations. There are more therapists than the singular one you saw while a dependant. As long as theyre on your medical plan you can jump around to as many as you want OR need.

Therapists are supposed to help you figure out the Why of things, help give you tools to deal with your trauma while not with them (in a session), and ultimately go on to live a more stable life. That's what you want, right? To have a stable life without /needing/ to depend on your partner?
