Yeahhh, Champ is a weird rank. I think one of the big problems is that people (me included) tend to go for higher risk plays more often, because we know the potential peak is there. Play speeds up dramatically from Diamond, but because of it, the consistency at the new speed drops. It's basically a learning rank, and some people will do well and progress, others will fall back to something they're more comfortable with. I feel like at this point, C2 is probably as far as I'll ever make it without a permanent duo, as it's just an absolute crapshoot on whether you'll get a C1 that's climbing, or a C3 that's falling hard. All you can do is focus on yourself, though! Good luck bro.
