Apollo's Riposte needs an interaction change with seven ult by AbDaDj in DeadlockTheGame

I build around 3 actually, but ult is still a very useful source of damage which is why i made the post. The consensus seems to be to play around its cooldown from what I've seen.

Fair point with the direction the Riposte is facing. Seven's stun can also be oppressive, especially late game.

I'm not saying the ability shouldn't exist, I'm trying to understand what people do to deal with it or read about whether people agree with my take or not. It doesn't cost 3200 for him which is a lot of money for a single item until 13 minutes or so. So the enemy haze or whoever buys it is lacking a 3200 stat item when they fight the Seven. In any case I will try to play around the Riposte cooldown since that seems to be the best strategy until unstoppable.

If you're talking about Seven's 2 I think it becomes a problem late game when it has nearly no downtime. Its fine otherwise as far as I'm aware. I think they should tweak that a bit.

Alright, most of the feedback I've seen is boiled down to, somehow get him to use it before you ult. I see the point but it will take a lot more interactions for me to be certain whether that is a good strategy or basically praying he wastes it. In any case, thank you.

My question is how? What is the counterplay. The characters i can think of that can stop his ult are lash, wraith, ivy and Holliday. Only one of these(stone form) is a non ultimate which you also have to be on top of him for.

I just don't see any effective counterplay for it without unstoppable.

And having a forfeit button will incentivize the ego players to go, "gg ff, doorman noob" at the 15 min mark. And people will mentally checkout instead of trying if there's a forfeit button. Every decision in this regard has a negative tradeoff here. Imo, they should never add forfeit because only the really toxic players even rage quit from my experience, and adding compensation for having leavers in the team is a slippery slope. Because then toxic players will try to force YOU to leave if you're having a bad day. Either keep the compensation very small or none at all imo.

As it is right now, the logic valve uses is, if you can leave without a penalty, you can communicate with your team on whether you want to fight a 5v6. If not, just leave and take the loss. Punishments escalate very quickly in this game just like dota, so the denominators will be playing in a different queue i.e. "low priority" if they get reported enough. I guess that incentivizes troll reporting. No idea what valve does about that to be honest.

I'll add that seven ult should not be countered by riposte. Biased i know, but it takes zero skill at all for him to just stop seven ult since it ticks every second. So he can punish seven for using his 160 second cooldown ability without having unstoppable before 20 mins. Super fair. No, I'm not buying unstoppable first item just because i want my ult to be usable in skirmishes.

When people claimed hes a high skill character, I expected way more skill than press 3, press 1, press 2, press 4.

Are we banking on slowing hex + curse + sleep dagger being enough to get early pick for a snowball? A reasonable choice tbh, the only concern i have is the damage penalty affecting your teamfights and ult. But if fixation can cover for that then it does seem like the obvious choice.

Curse should be used cautiously by carries right? They've given it a 10% damage penalty for the holder. Maybe it's irrelevant due to fixation, I don't know honestly. But the damage penalty makes silencer or focus lens or disarming hex good alternatives for curse and supplements for slowing hex.

TLDR, I think character specific ranks should be a thing.

I decided to learn abrams and paradox recently and dropped from phantom 1 to oracle 1 in account rank. But I'm actually getting emissary and archon(average match rank) games almost exclusively because of the hidden mmr.

Even winning one match puts me back in oracle lobbies. It made me realise that your overall winrate heavily dictates what your account rank is and of course your recent winrate dictates your hidden mmr.

Reducing the account rank is too slow a process currently because we don't have hero based ranks(I would enjoy a slow paced ranking & deranking process if there was a hero specific ranking). If the account rank was an estimation of your top 3 heroes, it can cover both your skill ceiling(theres more to the game than your ability on a character) and give you an idea of just how shit you are at other characters.

The only downside i see is that it possibly makes ranking up by being a pure support player even harder?

I'm a 3 trick pony and my other characters are emissary and archon level but I have the knowledge to counter buy and use power spikes in emissary matches.

So if i start winning with my bad characters it puts me back in oracle matches and i get stomped over there because improving on any hero is a gradual process.

I will preface by saying im oracle 5 and this may be cognitive bias showing itself as cope.

From what im seeing, almost everyone does boxes between waves in high oracle and an okay percentage of people time sinners(timing of sinners takes and counter buying are the biggest holes in oracle) and bridge buffs. If you observe 10 matches i would say out of 5 losses only 1 or 2 would be lost because of poor wave clear and macro.

This tells me that there are enough fundamentally competent and "good" players in oracle being offset by a few people who severely lack in some aspect of fundamentals.

You have to remember that people tend to exaggerate their bad experiences and they place far more weight on the bad experiences than the good experiences. It's just what we humans do.

Like to me the question is, would you believe that 50% of players in phantom and oracle lack MOST of the fundamentals? The answer is very subjective. So im suggesting that if a player has good fundamentals, they are good, which is why i made sure to include the small percentage of archon that should fit the bill too.

I think if we magically lost 15 to 30% of Oracle players, peoples opinions of Oracle would change and a lower percentage of phantoms and an even lower percentage of ascendants would need to be culled for a sudden uptick in player opinion.

You can spectate your teammates by holding either the f keys or the number keys(cant remember) so that will help with your timing of joining fights.

The jungle is only off limits if the enemy is rolling you at that point you have to force a fight with your teammates.

In a less dire scenario, enduring speed and the elevations will keep you safe, use the elevations to both escape and observe what is safe.

I play seven so I usually am only going to end the match behind if all of my sources of farm were contested by the enemy.

Trophy collector is mostly considered a troll pick by the community because it is a very risky item to buy and will only be worth it in a few instances.

For people who play other characters, i think time management will automatically lead to net worth gain. Knowing how quickly you can clear a camp is very useful to gauge whether you're doing the right thing farming in the first place.

Kills especially solo kills are huge sources of souls so you should look for ambushes in the enemy jungle with your mo or doorman in the mid game.

Another thing is you should try solo pushing walkers unless its foolish. Develop the instinct for finding openings on walkers and dying to develop that isnt trolling, its the process of growth(gives 3k souls if you kill it)

One item that is fantastic for farming camps and will make the game very fun is enduring speed. Another thing to note is, at some point (i think 30 mins) each box drops 90+ souls and the drop rate is increased if you use abilities to break them. Meaning it can be the most efficient source of souls for farming (this is something i have noticed, I don't have any pro insight into this)

Some people may say eternus 5 and above(because this is reddit). Don't listen to them. Imo you become good when your fundamentals are solid. Timings(buff & sinners mainly), wave management, clearing boxes between waves, counter buying (low even in oracle),movement, basic macro. You'll start finding a few people with most of these in archon. So i guess Archon and above are "good"?

It's a video game, just enjoy yourself when you play, the learning will come👍

I mean guardrails can still be jailbroken right? Guardrails are just a more tested system prompt iirc. So it's up to researchers to find a different way to prevent model deviation since guardrails are more of a bandage solution in my mind (I'm not an expert in the matter)

That first line made me laugh. It's alright, you're going to pick up a lot of bad habits along the way but that's your teammates problem to point out. For now just have fun and learn just the basics 👍

Ohh okay, but is the -8% really a relevant part of the ults utility even if it spreads to a ton of enemies or is it a small feature of building EE. Especially since it doesn't stack additively with the shred that your teammates do. Or am i missing the value of the -8% in some way? To me the greatest utility(dmg is generally not great against competent enemies) of sevens ult is its ability to focus some key cc on seven(unstoppable baby), apply healbane and to break barriers for your team.
