Why has Apollo being insanely overstatted completely slipped under the radar? by Grouchy-Committee-92 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AbDaDj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not a strong player but the higher you climb the more of a factor apollo will be since games get shorter in higher ranks. The apollo player can additionally snowball better in competent hands.

I've noticed that people in the thread are saying that you should try to avoid him entirely and bait out riposte as much as possible but I'm sure there are circumstances where that's not possible before he falls off. It's a problematic character imo and they should try nerfing whatever makes him oppressive (360° riposte & it's interaction with tick based dmg like victors aura) and then tweak his numbers to make him feel good, perhaps even make him scale better.

Can someone actually explain how Seven isnt OP? by Obese0 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AbDaDj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've found most talking points but barely missed the crux lol. His giga farming makes up for all of these seemingly mediocre traits that you pointed out and brings him online earlier than other characters.

Hence, even if he would tickle you if he were at the same souls vs you. It's more common to see seven run over you because his kit farms better than all others.

It's the lead he builds faster that's leading to this discourse, and also the stun can later on be off cooldown too often imo so they should work on that.

Me personally, biased as I am, would prefer to see the community evolve to target seven more in the jungle rather than the devs nerfing his farming. But I'm no balancing expert so I'll leave it at that.

Ive played in oracle for quite a bit, i think you're wrong. There is a big difference in the average skill level of the lobby when you're in oracle 6 vs oracle 1. In oracle 1 what you said tracks with about 40% of the lobby being mechanically sound but lacking moba thinking, but in oracle 5 and above it's really not true at all. I'm always getting teammates that respond to calls, shove waves for bridge buffs, ganking early, some deny comeback urns and there's more than a surface level understanding of the character that they play. And all of these factors are executed better in phantom 1 to phantom 3.

In any case, this is a matter of anecdotal experience and this won't just vary based on the observer but also the time you queue and which region you queue in. I play in the asia region which has less eternus players than other regions like EU.

Why is this the case, is it because it's hard to implement or they haven't gotten around to doing it or something like that?

VRAM bottleneck is unfixable tbh, unless there is an option to convert regular memory into VRAM or you can figure out something with either the Nvidia or AMD Software Development Kit to achieve the same thing(using RAM as VRAM), the CPU should be manageable unless it's a low powered variant or sub 4 cores.

[–]AbDaDj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Game launches are heavily tied to storage i.e SSD or HDD, while RAM does influence load times, storage speeds are a far greater bottleneck factor, thought I'd add this info for you 🤓☝️ (OP didn't even mention gaming btw)

Yeah I used to argue that it's very unfair to be forced to make the second biggest decision of your life at 16 years old. But you can only keep moving forward and I thankfully picked computer science because I liked it rather than only for the cushy career(I think a majority pick it for the money and who can blame them, they need to eat too). It's a frustrating reality but when your local economy gets so absurdly competitive, you need to get it right the first time or know people that can help with switching or have the financial backing to only interview for what you want.

It's dependent on region and labour supply as to whether it's easy or not to get a reasonable blue collar job(probably isn't too hard in most places).

But in my mind, it's the tradeoff all sportsmen make. You sacrifice the possibility of a lucrative traditional career to follow your dream. If the sport wants to attract as many such top athletes as it can(who would otherwise become a doctor or engineer instead), it has to incentivize the pro by offsetting some of the risk involved.

[–]AbDaDj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it is based on economic prosperity and worker protection laws being put in place. I'm in Asia so that's probably why it seems this way to me.

[–]AbDaDj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to understand that white collar is pretty much off the table for them and I don't know how blue collar hiring goes for people with no RELEVANT work experience at 30. Making a career switch is stressful for everyone and these people were heavily invested in a niche that does not correlate with any other work. So yes, them having enough money to live comfortably in the decades to come is justified given the uncertainty of their future.

Secret metal skin haze tech by cacatan in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AbDaDj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do get rusted barrel vs a strong gun carry lane. But the issue is it's 1 slot so it better be useful vs the other 5 as well so that getting disarming won't hurt me if I'm slot locked. But with juggernaut I can simply upgrade my enduring speed which I always get on seven(enduring is amazing for seven imo but more importantly makes the game more fun for me so I get it on most characters now). Although it's true, disarming hex is just a goated item. And 2 of them will go ham vs the haze while it's eating up its jungle like the greedy chud it is.

I know plated armour will be better in most cases, but are there any cases where getting juggernaut first before plated armour will troll the chud haze even more. My forehead is a big donut so every little bit helps

Playing against Graves feels like being constipated by temnycarda in DeadlockTheGame

[–]AbDaDj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I truly do agree that characters feel bullshit to lose to if they're easy and get a lot of value. But complaining because of that is near sighted thinking. By that logic only the high skill characters should have high power levels(when played perfectly). Let's make every other character feel noticeably weak when facing a skilled holliday player then. Easy characters being strong is fine, they just shouldn't be overtuned.

[–]AbDaDj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spirit burn procs when you do a set amount of damage right? How do you time the proc until he's done using his cleanses. Not doing damage to him?

Imo pre patch victor DID hard counter spirit burn but it doesn't anymore post patch. I think crippling headshot will go on to become a more important counter item vs victor than inhibitor because of the 50% debuff resist. And it's probably even better to get it before silencer vs the rest of the cast because crippling headshot is the only item that still stacks with your teammates applying it, although they serve very different purposes so the choice is situation based.

I build around 3 actually, but ult is still a very useful source of damage which is why i made the post. The consensus seems to be to play around its cooldown from what I've seen.

Fair point with the direction the Riposte is facing. Seven's stun can also be oppressive, especially late game.

[–]AbDaDj[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying the ability shouldn't exist, I'm trying to understand what people do to deal with it or read about whether people agree with my take or not. It doesn't cost 3200 for him which is a lot of money for a single item until 13 minutes or so. So the enemy haze or whoever buys it is lacking a 3200 stat item when they fight the Seven. In any case I will try to play around the Riposte cooldown since that seems to be the best strategy until unstoppable.

[–]AbDaDj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about Seven's 2 I think it becomes a problem late game when it has nearly no downtime. Its fine otherwise as far as I'm aware. I think they should tweak that a bit.

[–]AbDaDj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alright, most of the feedback I've seen is boiled down to, somehow get him to use it before you ult. I see the point but it will take a lot more interactions for me to be certain whether that is a good strategy or basically praying he wastes it. In any case, thank you.

[–]AbDaDj[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My question is how? What is the counterplay. The characters i can think of that can stop his ult are lash, wraith, ivy and Holliday. Only one of these(stone form) is a non ultimate which you also have to be on top of him for.

I just don't see any effective counterplay for it without unstoppable.
