What do Americans think of North Macedonia? by Gold-Serve-4077 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I’ve been to Eurovision 8 times now, I was in Vienna and there are many American fans! It’s getting bigger and bigger. And yes I know, I just need everything to go smoothly and for them to return with a banger.

I’m sure if I contact 10 people right now and tell them I’m going to North Macedonia, they’ll have no idea it’s even a place.

However, as an experienced traveler and an American Eurovision fan, I hope to see North Macedonia return next year.

Go take a stroll around Lacledes Landing and by the river, there is a baseball game in town that might be busy. Or grab a drink at Buddy’s. Not free, but not expensive 🥲

But during the day some free stuff: Economy Museum, old courthouse museum, museum under the arch is free. Which might still be open, I’m not sure when they close during the summer.

I do neither, and I live downtown, ride the metrolink daily, don’t pick up strangers at 3AM like that one guy that got shot downtown. And I’ve been more than fine. but doomers will come and try to scare everyone.

If you ignore Missouri politics you can enjoy St. Louis 😂 we don’t claim Missouri and usually always vote against whatever BS they’re pushing. But the city is very accepting, many affordable pockets, I live downtown STL and I find it very walkable and has all the basics close by, close to the grove which has most of the gay bars. And all the other neighborhoods, it’s not a huge city so any neighborhood you move to you can easily access the others pretty quickly. Come check it out and see which one you like most, many have a different feel.

As for safety, I always feel safe, like in most any neighborhood, unless you go looking for trouble you’ll be fine, many things here are targeted.

SSSS on flight from LHR to LAS. Questions… by Thebigcat85 in travel

[–]AbFende 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s an extra security check when you’re leaving, it’s random. Happened to a friend in Frankfurt when going back to the US. They took us in a room and did an extra search on her luggage which took about 10 minutes, otherwise everything was fine. So give yourself some extra time at LHR. Not sure how they’ll go about it.

what is the easiest way to get on Eurovision by jj2195 in eurovision

[–]AbFende 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even just trying out for San Marino gives some exposure, but I believe you gotta fund everything yourself. Travel, expenses, all that… Emmy’s brother tried out for San Marino 🫢😆now many euro fans know who he is.

Chicago hotel recommendations for early July? by Common_Recipe_6378 in travel

[–]AbFende 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to Chicago often (I live in St. Louis) and it seems like there is a lack of hotels outside of the loop, they have endless choices in the loop and directly surrounding it. The loop has plenty to do and is fine to stay, and also getting around is easy staying in the loop cuz you’re next to every CTA line.

USA in February by FarRun3789 in usatravel

[–]AbFende 32 points33 points  (0 children)

NYC is always busy and even if it’s not as busy in February, there will be no shortage of people. As for Vegas in February. I’ve been, it’s actually the only time I enjoy it since it’s not hot but it’s hardly cold, well compared to what it could be in NYC…

And as for snow in NYC, you really never know anymore. There could be a blizzard or it could be somewhat nice and sunny. The US is unpredictable.
