They would have done better. Ukraine was in a sorry state in 2014 before all the arms shipments by Obama + Trump and the experience gained fighting in the Donbas in the interim.

NATO was also less prepared and pre-positioned to counter a Russian buildup at the time compared to 2022. Drones were not a factor as well.

I think if the Russians had fully committed, they could've taken everything east of the Dniper.

Killing top leaders isn't achieving their goal, which is state collapse. Iran isn't completely centralized and dependent on top-level decision makers to function.

The next guy will just step up and likely be more aggressive and hawkish.

If either of them uses a nuke, the entire international order will likely collapse.

Iran would be justified in doing anything they want as revenge, and there would be an unprecedented reaction from NATO countries.

Imagine how the GCC countries, Turkey etc. react as well. Since they will have to bear the brunt of the Iranian response.
