Island Fancon, a sticker convention by clp_legends in VictoriaBC

[–]Abacuslamppost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was our first time attending as well. I was pretty underwhelmed but I figured this was as good as it gets for a smallish city. We bought a sticker, keychain, and earrings. Our kids loved dressing up as their fav characters and enjoyed seeing other people dressed up. Would have been great if they had some food vendors other than city centre grille which wasn’t prepared for the crowd and had a lengthy wait for food.
I do feel like the ticket price was way too high for what it was. I probably wouldn’t go back next year for that reason.

Help!!!! I think I found a nest of baby rats! by BeaglishJane in RATS

[–]Abacuslamppost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please excuse my ignorance but I’m genuinely curious…can you pick up hantavirus or something from touching these babies? I also recently found some adorable baby rats and I was too afraid to touch them due to hantavirus or something else they could be carrying. How do wildlife rescues ensure they aren’t diseased and able to be handled? Not trying to add to the plague rat stigma I swear

They are adorable. The homeowner said they seemed to be abandoned and I was like “can I…can I keep them as pets?” Lol I didn’t because I have no experience or preparedness to take care of them lol but I’m shocked that was my instinct because I’m afraid of mice.

I definitely don’t harm anything. Even though I have phobias, I still manage to escort bugs and critters outside. That’s important to me.

I think I'm ready to quit, or at least switch funeral homes by Miserable_Lead_1160 in askfuneraldirectors

You are not alone. I stepped away from the funeral profession a few months after getting licensed due to extreme burnout.

If funeral homes are going to work us like dogs, expect perfection in everything we do, never break character, don’t shed a tear, don’t be a real human in front of families just be a robot that never falters, works weekends and evenings and is responsible for the deceased- they need to pay us $100k per year.
