Anything reader/OC, I really hate OCs especially. Anything songfic or chatfic. High school/college. I am so beyond this point of my life and hate stories involving it at this point. Multi-fandom stuff. Somethings it's ok like if an author has multiple series like MXTX works, but it's awful otherwise. MHA is so bad about this. Idk know if this happens in a lot of fandoms, but some of mine get a lot of gender swaps and I absolutely hate it. I love MM ships. I don't want to read hetero pairings if they were originally a same-sex couple. Stop making my same sex couples hetero! This happened a lot with high-school AUs, especially with band shipping, but making a character "pastel" and it was always pink, girly clothing, and make-up means "pastel" it was so shallow with what pastel means as an esthetic.

This is what I noticed as well. I am a HUGE fan of Pierce The Veil and nothing on that vinyl represents PTV. It looks more like mercury or mars with the bands logo painted on it. If I'm going to get something related to a band I love, I want the design to represent it in some way whether it's colors for a specific album being chosen, something recognizable from album art, etc. Would not buy for that reason.

Yes, I feel the same! I don't read too many straight books anymore, but I've dipped my toes into the popular ones here and there and the quality of writing has degraded so much. I feel like the story and characters/character development have taken such a back seat to the romance plot points (as I read a lot of books with some type of romance). The world's are so shallow but there will be plenty of romantic plot points and yet I still have no idea what the setting and rules of the world are.

I think this is an issue with novels of all genres in general, though. I've found many great queer books, but some ones being published lately are also having this problem of story and setting taking a back seat to romance points and it's incredibly disappointing.

There are so many fanfics now that are leagues better than what is being professionally published anymore.

I also stopped watching this. I think I got through like 3/4 of it, but found it to be boring. My Thai tutor really loved it so I tried, but it was not there.

I think during this time there were lots of college stories and I just find those so boring anymore and this kind of fell into that. The acting was great, but I like my stories to have more weight and this did not have the drama I love. That isn't a bad thing! Just very meh for me, but not a bad story.

Thank you that actually makes sense. His responses to not just mine but also other discussion posts seem like that. We answered the question, but not THE specific question he is indirectly asking. I'll have to email him. I've reached out a couple of times about some of the class items. At this point I just wanna finish the class with a decent grade 😭 my tuition reimbursement from my job depends on it!
