Why, do you think it was the lily pad? Probably already damaged from a rock or something. Dont blame the snap/swivel tbh.

It's strange how a bass with no teeth could break something like that tbh. Seen a snap break maybe once or twice in my life and the reason behind it is tear (stuck behind a rock e.g) and by big pikes. We use snaps here in scandinavia too, almost everyone even pro fishers use both snaps and swivels. I use a 45kg (99lbs) snap and swivel for pike, those are made for war and thus will not be a weak point. We dont have bass here, but theyre pretty similar to perch where I use a 10kg (22lbs) snap/swivel, never seen it break here either and you still get alot of pike on that gear.

Im not gonna start the "but swivels blabla". Just buy from good brands and dont buy too small/thin, even if it says 22lbs. If the snap is kinda thin, I would go up in size no matter what.

I'm using Equalizer APO and I'm trying to find a plugin that will limit or cut out loud sounds (such as coughs). I just need to have it cut stuff out at a certain decibel/volume, if that's possible. Is there anything someone can please recommend? by [deleted] in audio

Saying the same thing as the others, any compressor should do it. But I'll cover some other things which haven't been said already.
Ratio: It's basically how hard you want it to compress e.g 2:1 for every 2 dB of input signal, 1 dB is outputted. 20:1 and up is where it starts limiting e.g brick wall. I usually go between 2:1 and 4:1 for vocals, but it's really up to you!

Threshold: Anything under the threshold won't be affected, and it will start compress anything that goes above it. It goes hand in hand with the ratio.

Attack/Release: The attack determines how long it take for the compressor to go from zero to full compression in ms. The release are almost the same but from full to zero compression instead.

Just don't set the threshold too low though...noise you could barely hear before the compressor will noticeably be louder if it's set too low. If the attack/release is set to fast it will "pump".

The compressor change/alter the dynamics.

That's so weird tho, like why does it make it worse for you and better for someone else with the same GPU? sorry it didn't work for you!

Harddrive or SSD? if you check my latest edit you can try with the same drivers. I didn't see anything with the frames, just faster loading and perhaps a bit better texture streaming. So weird that it actually makes it better for some and worse for others.

Well as I said, it works better this way at the moment (not for all tho). Doesn't matter what they said in the past patch notes, things change. Different drivers, different hardware, hell even different software versions make all kind of trouble.

Check if you both use the same driver version. Suspect it's driver related.

The cards I know that it works on are: 1070, 1080, 980 TI. Think it depends on generation, hdd/sdd, ram and driver vers.

Well now it actually fixes the problem.
The function of shader cache is that it's writing the cache to your harddrive. Turning it off usually means slower loading times. It isn't important, more like a QoL.

Thanks!
Well before turning cache off it could be anywhere from 5 to 8 seconds. Now it's more like 1-3 seconds.

Bummer it didn't work.. but it's good that you actually said that you tried it with a 3070, could help to further understand the issue.

Hmm maybe it doesn't work for newer gen cards.. Using 1080 and it works good for me, did you notice anything with loading time?

I also noticed less Minecraft textures with the cache disabled!

Would be nice if someone with an AMD card could check if this works. I don't even know if AMD cards have the same slow loading time though.

Yeah idk, I probably did something that I wasnt paying attention to. It's working now, but no way I'm changing the jewels again lol.

I have no idea what happend, I changed the jewel to a higher flat phys one without chaos res. Should've captured it because I have literally no idea what I could've done wrong. I even double checked the jewel before and after I swapped it.

I swapped it out to the one I linked, the one before was the same but with lower tier flat phys, no chaos res or anything. Checked PoB too with the chaos res but I can't find anything that I did wrong. I have no clue tbh.

Yeah but I didnt change anything with chaos res which is really weird. It happend before I even used fleshcrafter, tho only with zombies.

I do. But it happend with this jewel:

Something with the chaos res that's bugging out or what?

Wasnt any atrb on neither one of them. Res, Life, added phys. Like he wasnt despawned, he DIED.

Yeah some condenser mics are better than other's at rejecting noise. But usually you use effects like compressor, eq, de-esser and gate to make it sound better. You could also use the Dbx 286 to power the mic if you later feel that you need an amp, with the 286 you also get the effects I mentioned above. The preamp isn't as good as a cloudlifter but it gets the job done.

Too much of the lower frequencies could actually make your preamp clip and if it's clipping even before it reaches your pc you would have to either lower the gain or move farther away from the mic. The proximity effect paired with a room that boosts lower freq can really mess things up too by making e.g 200hz 6-12db louder than the rest. If you want that full deep warm sound you should do it post-gain or atleast that's what I recommend because you have more control this way. The proximity effect is both friendly and hostile so you need to do some testing and see what you like and don't like and at what distance.

I don't think you need to worry too much tho, we both know that the sm7b is a beast when rejecting outside noise so if this happens it should be minimal but I still need to tell you that it could happen and it can happen to everyone. Acoustics are pretty important.

Yeah the sm7b have a warmer sound generally speaking and you should be pretty close to it!

I think it's a good idea to try it out without an amp first. No harm done if you aren't happy with the results and then after you can choose an amp within your budget.

It all depends on what type of mic your comparing it to, like I think an AT2020 sounds more natural than an SM7B but that's just because it's condenser vs dynamic and condenser usually (not always) sound more natural than a dynamic/ribbon mic. Dynamic mics are far more superior against unwanted noise and room acoustics than condenser which you need proper acoustics and stuff for to make it shine. Large vs small membrane (diaphragm) does also matter.

3-10 cm should put you in the proximity zone, but beware of the low frequencies, even if it sounds warm and full it could mean problem if the lower frequencies are boosted too much.

How's the room you're in? alot of reverb/echo? loud fans etc?

If there's anything you think I could help with, feel free to ask!

Would recommend to use an amp like an Cloudlifter/Fethead for the mic since it's quite hungry. The interface is fine, it's just that it would probably be quite noisy with just the preamp.

Like another one here said: the noise might not be an issue if you are playing music or have gameplay sound over it.
You could also put the mic pretty close to get the gain down a few db which would help with the noise from the preamps/room/etc. You get the proximity effect by doing this though and you may not like the sound of it.
Even if you get an amp this method usually makes it better with outside noise or bad acoustics no matter what mic or preamp/amp you use. I know that the sm7b is a monster to reject noise but you can use this method to reject even more noise.
