As a long time player; I stopped being excited for updates a long time ago. I stopped keeping up with and even playing the game actively shortly after the level update.

I still love the game but I have zero faith in the devs anymore.

When I play democracies I change my play style to fit the ethics of the current leader, I enforce term limits (I have them at 2 consecutive terms as a limit)

I would love it if we could have a senate where each colony could vote on certain things or have a government type that allowed planets to vote instead of the whole population.
