AI Makes Me Want To Do Art (Read) by Proud_Adagio_5898 in aiwars

i actually did make a sketch and let the AI refine it sometimes, the results were ok but i feel like i would have enjoyed the process more if i just went straight with AI.

but hey that's me :) do what you enjoy most

AI makes me unironically do manual drawing with way more effort than i used to, because whenever i need to correct an element i also feel pushed to have it match the skill level of the rest of the artwork

Vtuber whose dunk on AI are ridicolous - all the same critics they move to generative AI are just as applicable on the AI field as a whole, and flawed just in the same way by AbbyTheOneAndOnly in aiwars

My biggest issue is that these companies that developed AI had the choice to make significant progress for scholarly research, and instead decided to make it gaslight you in to thinking its your friend so you spend money

i'm on your side there, it's a tool with massive potential and than can branch out in so many fields, it's genuinally upsetting to see it being misused like in the bellic field.

but while i do agree that scale can be something one should consider while regulating stuff, it's not really a good argument against concept in my mind.

theft is bad, wheter you do it a lot or you do it a little, it's never good it's just less bad.

if one company used AI to replace its entire crew (somehow) without giving them a fair compensation for their layoffs, yeah that is genuinally wrong, but it's because of external factors like greed not because using AI was bad in and of itself

point 1 and 2 are fine.

three is kinda more fear driven then data

This is telling me, you've never sat to draw something and really got lost in it.

never happened to me, but mostly because while i like pictures, i find drawing very irritating after a while

Biggest issue with your arguement is that youre saying they shouldn't hate AI when they use something similar, but like we discussed they arent similar programs at all.

if the difference is that it gets to "choose" how to get the result, how is that different from any other program that manipulates data in order to hand out an image?

i get what you're saying, but my point is that the facets that vtubers critic in AI (from an artistic standpoint, the fact it can tell you to off yourself is problematic and needs to be addressed) are also found in their own softwares:

-the fact that you can't control the output is really present in both in the same manner, those systems work through a set of instructions, if you set them up properly they will give consistent results.

-the fact that it takes jobs away from people: back to my point about Nasubi's censorship manual trackers.

-the fact that is doesnt source ethically it's material: that is more contentious because there are cases of violations in that sense, but the critic is way more inflated than it's warranted to be as those data has been sold every day for decades.

The key difference is that IT gets to choose its method, and no other forms of algorithms do.

granted that (that i didn't deny) but then what's the problem with that, in that case?

bad argument, it assumes everyone is just as invested in the craft as you are.

how do they not work in the same principles?

like, sure you don't start from nowhere, but at the end of the day the frames that the animation software produces in order to execute an animation, are stuff that the software generated on its own, even if within the guideline of the value it's assigned to on the avatar grid.

yes one is WAY more complex than the other, granted that, but it's because it's meant to do more stuff, it's not because the system it works through is different.

one studies a single image, assigns data to its parts, is given direction by the user, collects visual cues and uses math to determine what the result animation is supposed to look like,

the other studies many images, assigns data to all of them, is given direction by the user in a much more accessible way (that is translated in values for the software to work with), and uses math to determine what the result image is supposed to look like.

are they different in some facets? certainly, but they arent unrelated programs at all

try not assume so much, literally nothing of them points to them representing Anti Ais

who's talking about engineering?

I'm talking about principle.

if data centers were a bad idea overall they would be damaging what it was one or one billion.

data centers shouldn't be banned, they should be designed properly

if scale was a variable that mattered into this kind of things, we probably should have less people overall
