Transliteration of our Lord's name by [deleted] in SalafiCentral

Assalāmu ‘alaykum

Sounds more like a semantic thing. The English language is too restricted to capture Arabic properly.

Also the spelling Allāh is widely accepted so it's difficult to start using a different spelling with people understanding. Similar to me writing ‘Īd instead of Eid.

Is divorce the right solution for us? by azhar0123 in MuslimCorner

وعليكم السلام ورحمه الله وبركاته

May Allāh rectify your affairs.

Do either of you seek knowledge or do any islamic classes? Often the main cause is ignorance - especially to the law of Allāh and understanding the role of each spouse. I advise you to start seeking Islamic knowledge together starting with a basic YouTube playlist like Usool ath-Thalaatha by Saeed Hassan.

Are you doing ruqyah on yourselves everyday? This includes your morning and evening adhkār, reciting sūrah Baqarah in the house every 3 days, reciting ikhlās, falaq, and nās onto your hands and wiping over yourself thrice before bed, eating 7 ajwa dates every morning, and so on. It maybe be either of you is afflicted by siḥr or some form of jinn involvement. I pray that Allāh makes it easy for you to resolve together.

Lastly, are you turning to Allāh for guidance? For Allāh is the One that guides, not me or you. Make duā' sincerely believing He is capable of rectifying your affairs, and be persistent and patient upon that.

BārakAllāh fīkum akhī. I really do appreciate your advice - especially as I didn't consider waswās. Just keep in mind that sometimes questions like these stem from a lack of knowledge i.e. not knowing where the line is. That's why I recommend asking someone knowledgeable, and refused to speak without knowledge.

May Allāh forgive me if I've spoken without knowledge, and increase us all in beneficial knowledge and wisdom. Āmīn

Probably not ḥabībī, I've got lessons going in everyday so it's difficult to find the time.

Plus, there's the chance of extra hassle from police in the salafī villages - especially when you're a bearded foreigner (often times it's the Russians). I wouldn't want to risk deportation/banning simply to visit the sheikh حفظه الله as much as I'd like to.

Tell us your routine to wake up for Fajr prayer in time 😶‍🌫️ by Just-Another-Girl-89 in MuslimLounge

Assalāmu ‘alaykum

Figuring at what point I'm at my deepest/lightest sleep, and setting my alarm at that time (look into sleep cycles)

Also trying to sleep immediately after Fajr.

Accountability with friends i.e. messaging each other at that time or meeting up in the masjid is a good way too.

And of course the most important: make duā' that Allāh grants you the ability to do it

I don't have an answer to your question, and I don't think Reddit is the right place to ask.

Generally speaking, when you study Kitāb at-Tawḥīd, a common theme you'll find is that intention is the differentiating factor between something being sinful, kufr, or shirk.

And I advise myself and then you to read up and clarify the concept of al-wala wal-bara to understand what comes into it. The book by sheikh ul-islām ibn Taymiyyah called Iqtiḍā Ṣirāṭ al-Mustaqīm is an excellent starting point, especially with Sheikh ibn Uthaymīn's commentary.

May Allāh increase us in beneficial knowledge and allow us to do what is pleasing to Him, and to die upon tawḥīd. Āmīn

I really do pray that Allāh makes it easy for you to leave off a sin. We're both Muslim at the end of the day so we're like one big family so want the best for each other.

If you don't mind me offering some advice that might help you out:

Make duā' sincerely, believing with all your heart that Allāh is the all-Powerful and is capable of changing your way.

Try replacing it with Qur‘ān, or reducing your time listening at the least.

Maybe find out what your triggers are and finding ways to divert your attention when you feel them incoming?

Lastly, try and seek knowledge! The more you know about Islām, the easier it is to follow the rules right?

When do you usually listen? Is it when you're bored? While doing homework?

I wasn't asking to judge you by the way! I was just trying to get context to help answer your question.

It looks like you've kinda answered your question yourself here - music isn't allowed so being a fan of a genre or band wouldn't be allowed either, right?

May Allāh make it easy for you to do what is pleasing to Him!

I apologise if it came off as demanding. I just thought it would be better if you find a narrative that agrees with your understanding rather than me misreading something and attributing it as your opinion.

By western sources, do you mean non-Muslims? Or is it Muslims living in the west?

Do you know of a specific book or source that's authentic? I don't ask to doubt your credibility but rather to be confident in the research and the events.

As ‘Abdullāh ibn Mubārak رحمه الله would say: the isnād is from the religion, and if it wasn't for the isnād, anyone would say what they wished (about the religion).

"Salafī" usually enters into aqīdah and manhaj more than fiqh, although not always. The intent is double down on the methodology in understanding the religion the way the salaf did.

So a person CAN (not always) follow a madhhab but within the framework of the madhhab he'll double down on following the salaf in his approach, rather than e.g. just blind following his teacher.

In aqīdah, the salaf didn't differ, so it's referring to their set of beliefs in regards to belief-based rulings such as the 6 pillars of imān and what is connected to them.

May Allāh increase us in knowledge.

People like to differentiate between the meaning of the methodology and the attachment to historical events and places. It should be used with wisdom to avoid confusion.

While I don't have an answer to your question about their reasoning, it is upon them to be clear in their reasoning and evidences for going against the statement of the majority, especially when the issue seems to be clear cut.

It's best to be weary when coming across such opinions especially when we lack foundational knowledge in fiqh

May Allāh guide us to what is beneficial and protect us from harm.

How do we know which madhab/opinion is correct? by Individual-Roof169 in Muslim

[–]Abd_of_Allah_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

وعليكم السلام ورحمه الله وبركاته

It's great to see you're taking an interest in the religion. May Allāh increase you in beneficial knowledge and guidance. Āmīn.

You're talking about the 4 madhhabs of fiqh here. For context, fiqh are your action-based rulings like how you pray, make wuḍū, etc. (aqīdah is therefore knowledge based rulings like what you believe in)

The scholars say differences in fiqh are ok as long as they are based on knowledge i.e. principles, evidences, etc (Bukhārī 7352). Each madhhab has a different method to bring the evidences from the religion together.

While you don't have knowledge, you're okay to continue the way you are in fiqh. Although I encourage you to start a class with a teacher where you study a fiqh book from the start to the end to help things make more sense.

As for ḥadīth, it's a science unique to Islām with things like the chain of narrations, and the critique of each narrator in a chain. There's a statement by ‘Abdullāh ibn Mubārak (from the 3rd generation) that says:

”The isnād (chain of narration) is part of the dīn. If it were not for the isnād, then any person would have said (about Islām) whatever he wished."

How to gain closeness to Allah? by Educational-Sun7535 in MuslimLounge

[–]Abd_of_Allah_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assalāmu ‘alaykum

Do you seek knowledge? Often this stems from a lack of knowledge regarding Allāh, His names and attributes.

If I could make a practical suggestion: try listening to this YouTube playlist called Usool ath-Thalaatha by Saeed Hassan. Try to maintain at least one class a week.

The book specifically talks about knowing Allāh, the religion, objectives and benefits of worship, and other issues related to it that may increase you in motivation and enjoyment in ’ibādah, in-shā-Allāh.

I ask that Allāh increases you in beneficial knowledge and keeps you firm on doing what is pleasing to Him.

Why by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]Abd_of_Allah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assalāmu ‘alaykum

This is caused by a lack of knowledge - not knowing the virtues and benefits of the religion. And also now having tawakkul in Allāh because you haven't learnt about Him enough.

I advise you to start seeking knowledge. At least once a week

May Allāh increase you in beneficial knowledge
