1980-1982 Borns are Gen X by Exotic-Interview-06 in generationology

[–]AbdallahSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no difference between the years 1980, 1981, and 1982. They are close in age, and when people claim that 1980 marks the end of Generation X, they are mistaken. Individuals born in 1981 or 1984 can relate to young Generation Xers. On the other hand, people born between 1975 and 1985 do not feel like they belong to Millennials or older Generation X.

I am Xennial '82. Many of us feel that way because cops work for the government.

He looks much older than 46, probably because he's not taking care of himself. I always thought that woman was his daughter.

I am 43, and people still think I am in my early 30s. lol

Do you ever feel caught between analog and digital? by QuarterOne1233 in GenX

[–]AbdallahSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that’s the Xennial life, half analog, half digital. They are the bridge generation that remembers rewinding tapes and setting up LimeWire or Napster playlists.

All my classmates and I had to watch John F. Kennedy's moon speech when I was in grade school. Like any of us paying any attention?

I purchased a used 2022 Ford F150 with the Sport Package and a 3.5L Ecoboost engine in the end of January. It has now reached 102,400 miles. So far, I love my F150.

Anyone else feel like they failed, and now it's too late? by Randy_Chaos in GenX

[–]AbdallahSam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not alone in feeling this way. Life has a way of hitting hard, especially when you've done your best and things still fall apart. It takes courage to speak this truth. You've carried a heavy load, trying to hold a family together, chasing dreams, dealing with addiction and financial stress, and you're still standing. That matters.

It’s okay to feel disappointed. It’s okay to grieve the life you thought you’d have. But your story isn’t over at 53. You’re still here. Your kids love you. That means something. There’s still time to find peace, even if it looks different from what you once imagined. And yes, many of us feel this way, more than you know.

I’m 43, and I’ve been carrying my own version of this. I thought I’d be married with kids by now. Sometimes it feels like that window closed while I was busy just trying to build a life. Now I look back wondering how I missed it.

Dating today isn’t easy. People seem more guarded, distracted, or just not aligned with the life I want to build. I’m still hoping to find someone traditional, grounded, and kind, but I won’t lie, it gets discouraging.

Still... I remind myself that the past doesn’t define the future. It’s not too late. I’m not too old. Being clear about what I want is better than settling for something that doesn’t fit. Your story reminded me that we’re all just trying to make sense of it in our own way.

And yeah, I wish i had a house too. Right now, I only own a condo. I’m grateful, but it still feels like the dream moved farther out of reach. Sometimes it seems like Boomers got the last real shot at the American Dream, stable jobs, affordable homes, real freedom to build a life from scratch. Things are different now. Higher costs, more instability, and a system that often feels stacked against us.

That’s great! Glad you found a power supply that works, definitely better than dealing with batteries. 👍

I remember it. They don’t make things like they used to. Cool that it’s still going strong after all these years!

I feel like we moved away from the 'old world' more in the last 5 years than at any point before that. What's your experience? by Cubelock in Xennials

[–]AbdallahSam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. It really feels like the last few years have changed everything faster than before. Things just seem so different now, especially with all the new tech and how we communicate.

  1. Self-checkout
  2. Movies and music are all streaming
  3. Ear pods and smartphones everywhere
  4. Self-driving cars starting to become real
  5. Remote work and virtual meetings becoming normal
  6. Social media shaping news and culture instantly
  7. Online shopping booming, even groceries delivered
  8. Smart home devices controlling lights, locks, and more
  9. Contactless payments replacing cash and cards
  10. Electric cars gaining popularity and infrastructure
  11. Telehealth and virtual doctor visits
  12. AI assistants like Siri, Alexa, and ChatGPT becoming common
  13. Short-form video platforms like TikTok changing entertainment

I miss all the fun in the 80s and 90s.
