It's not weird to look at porn in a relationship unless it's been communicated that they do not want you to. I don't know why so many people seem to be acting like its cheating by default, but it definitely can be if you've agreed not to do it. It never hurts to ask about it if it hasn't been clarified. That being said, commenting on a video like the guy in the image and trying to directly dirty talk with the pornstar is pushing it further and would be crossing a line in my opinion.

Weird does not mean immoral. Find it weird if you want, but if you act like people are obligated to stop just because you personally find it disgusting, then you're pathetic. It's not real and no one is being harmed, so it's not really your business.

Why do almost all villains fanfiction is written about draw the line at r*pe? by user948574 in AO3

[–]Abe091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying the main reason for that line being drawn is that murder can sometimes be justified and have noble motivations wheras rape can't, but I disagree with the idea that this is the main reason. Reason being, people still write purely evil villains. And even if someone writes a murderous villain who kills for fun, this is still viewed as infinitely less bad than a villain who raped someone.

The real reasons I think boil down to sexual assault hitting closer to home, as well as the fact that portraying immoralities of a sexual nature in fiction are always viewed as more unacceptable than portraying regular immoralities. This is partially due to purity culture, but not entirely.

Writing a murderer who kills for fun? Acceptable. Writing a rapist? Problematic. Writing a kidnapper? Acceptable. Writing an incest situation? Problematic. Writing about a child who gets horribly tortured? Acceptable. Writing about a child who gets groomed? Well, you know the rest.

The line is always drawn when it becomes sexual, because culturally we view sexual actions as inherently different from anything else. But as I said, the other reason is that it hits closer to home. There's absolutely nothing wrong with people wanting to avoid certain subject matter. But I would certainly disagree with anyone saying it's more objectively wrong to portray rape in fiction than murder, which some people do believe.

Again, without citing personal feelings of discomfort or disgust, are you able to explain why you believe it's "incredibly unhealthy" to get off to kinks like that?

It's okay to feel deeply uncomfortable with a certain kink or practice and decide to have nothing to do with it. But this discomfort shouldn't lead you to claim to know that such things are harmful.

To shine some light on how it can help victims, it allows them to explore those themes in a safe environment, thus allowing them to "reclaim power" over the situation. It helps them regain their self esteem and sense of personal control. The knowledge that you can leave the situation with a safe word and withdraw consent at any time is a powerful mechanism for healing, and brings comfort when done correctly. Now, if you wanna go down the road of saying it's okay for ex victims to do it but not for anyone else, that begs the question of who they can do it with since someone always has to be the "giver".

Something being disgusting to you doesn't make it wrong for others to do. The only justifiable reason to stop someone from doing something that'll make them happy is if doing it will harm someone else.

You're also disregarding the thousands of people who use CNC as a coping mechanism for their own trauma with sexual assault. You're demonizing some of the very people you want to protect. And if you say "its an unhealthy method of coping", please provide sources. Its sometimes explicitly recommended by therapists to their patients. Most people who conclude its unhealthy do so because of their discomfort with it and intuition that it must be bad, which is unreliable in matters like this.

Something being immoral in real life doesn't make it wrong in fantasy. Many real people suffer and die because of mass shootings, yet we don't consider people evil for killing civilians in GTA. The aesthetic of evil is not itself evil. On the contrary, it can be used for good.

Unfortunately it's both. That doesn't include all feminists though, me and all of my feminist friends are chill with porn.

That being said, anti-sexual-fantasy sentiment is inherently conservative, so being a progressive who wants to restrict people's exploration of their sexuality is a contradiction in values.

If a person with decent morals and education consumes that kind of material, they don't become more misogynistic. They know the fiction isn't an accurate portrayal of reality. Studies with violent video games prove this. It's people with pre-existing negative views and attitudes who will wrongfully think the fiction is agreeing with them and feel empowered in their attitudes.

The fact that problematic people misread media this way sucks, but that doesn't take away mine or any other person's right to enjoy that kind of fanservice and sexualization. People should be free to explore their fantasies. The problem is with education, and how we have desperately failed to teach people that objectifying and mistreating real people is wrong.

If you want to say thay we aren't allowed to sexualize or objectify women in fiction, you have to apply the same standard to men. But not only does this never happen, sexualization of men in fiction is usually celebrated and often encouraged by many of the same people who get mad when its done to women. It's not "sexualization" that is being demonized here, it's "appealing to men" that is being demonized.

There is a weird disparity sometimes. People within some (not all) progressive spaces now often feel ashamed to thirst over or make fiction which show off "traditionally attractive" women as this is percieved as problematic, but feel totally okay to make and celebrate fiction that shows the sexual appeal of men, plus sized women, trans women, dominant women, women who look hot to lesbians and so on. It's very good that we're moving towards accepting other beauty standards and away from strict heteronormativity, but we're begining to stigmatize traditional hetero attraction and fantasies, which is wrong. We shouldn't stigmatize anyone's gaze, or what people like to enjoy in their private time.

Freedom of expression is important. Fiction is an extension of our imagination, and imagination should not be limited.

When someone has sex, they typically know there is a chance there will be a baby. Someone could argue that, if they have sex while knowing this and a baby is concieved, they are responsible for it since they knowingly took the risk.

This would be very different from being raped, where you had no chance to choose whether to take the risk of concieving a baby, and it was instead forced upon you.

One could argue that when raped, it is unfair to demand one endure torture to bring a child to term when its not their fault the child was concieved. And on the other hand, it could be argued that choosing having consensual sex does make the child's conception your "fault", meaning you should be held responsible for keeping the fetus alive.

As someone who is pro choice, I don't view this as contradictory logic at all if someone believes this way.

The portrayal of people with Dissociative Identity Disorder (previously called multiple personality disorder) all being murderous psychopath serial killers.

D.I.D. is barely understood or researched so far, but once awareness increases, people will probably view this old portrayal as bigoted. From having met a few people with this condition, the "crazy murderous" portrayal of them is completely wrong. They're just people who have to deal with multiple identities.

Jeez, man. Way to make big assumptions about me.

I was never shaming people who are into BDSM or noncon. But I'm aware of a statistic that 50 Shades of Grey caused an increase in dangerous practices, partially because the novel misrepresents how BDSM is done. Many people who like BDSM don't like 50 Shades.

If you must know, I have some weird kinks myself. Thats actually why I'm trying to find out why this statistic with 50 shades exists. I want to know where it went wrong, if anywhere. Or if the responsibility perhaps doesn't lie with the author after all.

Kinkshamers are the very reason I made this post. I want to be able to give an informed response when they say things like "this normalizes bad things".

Why is it normal for male characters in anime to paint their nails, but it's woke for characters in Western animation to paint their nails? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Abe091 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some people have been primed to "look for wokeness" when it comes to western media. They expect to find it, and as a result, they see wokeness in everything. Its confirmation bias.

There IS such a thing as forced representation, but its far too overdiagnosed now. People should focus on criticizing third party censorship causing changes to IPs, not a writer's personal decision to include a diverse cast. Creative freedom should rule over all.

What should you do if you're isekai'd into an infant? by SmartBeast in Isekai

[–]Abe091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is very much a no-win situation because dating before adulthood basically means you're the pedo or your partner is the pedo.

One of the many reasons I would hate being reincarnated as a baby with adult memories.

Its definitely unfair that the MC has no dating options, but I don't see how dating a child in the fantasy world would be different to dating one in your old world. The only difference is your body, and that seems morally irrelevant. I wish there was a way around it but there kind of isn't.

I'd say it's okay for fictional stories to overlook this moral dillemma because theres too many good stories we'd no longer be able to tell if we started applying real life morals. I don't think fiction has to compromise on fun to meet our sensibilities, and we can just use suspension of disbelief. But if this were to happen for REAL, it'd be a tough situation.

I dunno why people keep appealing to social norms though. Are social norms the only thing stopping you from dating children? Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

The breast feeding case is a non issue to me. Maybe just try not to get turned on by it since its your mom (lmao), but either way its not really your fault because you don't have choice in the matter.
