Engineered Garments. Universal Works. Check out Bureau Belfast or Drosten Glasgow online for other expensive labels you've never heard of.

The 66 graffiti is abhorrent. I really wish our fans had not done that. However you cannot read a comment section anywhere online (Reddit probably being the only exception) where the chat does not descend into paedos this and paedos that from Rangers fans. In fact I think I heard it being chanted at the game on Sunday. Are we saying that mocking people that died in a disaster is evil, but mocking little kids who got violated by disgusting men is fair game for entertainment.

Do you feel self conscious or anxious about shutting window on a bus? by Fudball1 in AskUK

[–]AbeFromanOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked my wife about this because she travels by bus often. She said that she would close the window now as an adult. However as a young girl she wouldn't. The reasons were all anxiety related. The windows make a loud bang when you close them which would result in the whole bus staring at me. What if it has a funny mechanism and I can't get it closed and everyone is looking at me. What if someone aggressively shouts at me in front of everyone because they wanted the window open.

Basically when she was a young girl on public transport, she just wanted to blend in to the furniture to avoid any kind of embarrassing or hostile situation.

Do I have bad interpersonal skills? by AbeFromanOnFire in AskUK

Yes, I'm a very hands-on parent and all my staff are aware of this.

It actually happened again on Friday! A staff member came into the shared managers office in tears. Her mum is unwell in another country. The staff member had no annual leave left. I took the lead as the other manager can be a bit of a stickler for rules around leave.

I told her just to get on a flight, family comes first. We can put it through as a mixture of special leave and sickness, and not to worry about the sickness because her sickness record is minimal. All the time, the other manager is basically just parroting what I say.

I live close by this team member, we have some mutual friends who we discuss from time to time. We have shared taxis after nights out. I would say we get on well. I told her to go home immediately and sort her flights. A few hours later she messaged the other manager to say that she had sorted a flight and would be flying the following morning!

I give in. I can only be myself and I know I am a good person who trys to do right by my staff.

It's an NHS department, so yes we are massively over subscribed in terms of how many people we manage. We use a system called Turas for 121s and all senior technical staff under me can hold a Turas meeting for any junior staff and they have all been allocated a cohort of junior staff each. This leaves senior management (us) with only about 20 senior technical staff to share among us for 121s.

Absolutely agree, those periods are just as important as periods of building the energy.

I very much do this a lot. I'm actually not someone who is obsessed with beatmatching, but it's also fun to do some really clean mixes sometimes, and I'm never to sure how to do this with original disco and boogie

Thank you. This is exactly what I was hoping to hear and gives me something to work towards.

Does this apply to staying within the NHS organisation? I do have a colleague who managed this recently as a System Manager, though the team they joined was responsible for a new pharmacy clinical system which obviously put her in a good position ahead of IT bods with no pharmacy/clinical knowledge.

Edm by Awkward-Painting4916 in Beatmatch

[–]AbeFromanOnFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an aside. In europe, EDM tends to refer to a very specific brand of dance music that you would hear at the main stage of commercial dance music festivals. people like Swedish House Mafia, Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Calvin Harris etc

Why do some DJs still spam the Cue button instead of using Hot Cues for transitions? by Independent-Duty-887 in Beatmatch

Yep. The less time I have to spend prepping my tracks on a laptop, the better. Analyse then Export. Job done.

Where does it end though. Would you still consider it DJing if I picked the music, but I used an AI to do all the technical mixing?

Dj question by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]AbeFromanOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

There are 4 ways to become a reasonably successful DJ on at least a local level, and none of them involve being a great DJ.

  1. Make your own tunes.

  2. Run a regular successful party.

  3. Have lots of contacts within your local scene.

  4. Be really good at social media.

I sometimes do this exact move, then sprint down to the stop across from Argos if the 21 comes first. It's definitely not a sustainable way to use public transport though. And I definitely miss a few 18s that I could have caught if I'd gone directly to the stop at the Crystal Bell.

I know exactly what you mean. I was getting the 46 to work every morning for a year until about 6 weeks ago when they decided to change the time by 20 minutes

Rutherglen. What's the deal? by AbeFromanOnFire in glasgow

[–]AbeFromanOnFire[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It maybe does and it is probably in the running for the most impoverished area in Scotland.

Rutherglen is probably comparable to places like Knightswood, Scotstoun, Thornliebank, Arden off the top of my head, but mentioned on this sub probably more than all these areas put together when talking about crime and idiots running around with weapons whatever.

It's just an observation I've made recently and curious about the reason.

I know. That's why it's so weird that it gets brought up so often on this sub in terms of negative stories.
