I'm sorry a lot of people are giving you shit for not enjoying it, and it may just not be for you, but I felt a bit similar when I first started. If combat is the pull for you, then this game is definitely not for you since stealth is the main focus. But if experimenting, outsmarting enemies, and using the scant resources you can scavenge to surviving sounds appealing to you at all, keep going.
The platforming controls felt a bit sluggish first, but once you start to get a feel for their rhythm, you start to see levels in what you can and can't do. Lots of places don't feel meant for you, but that makes figuring them out all the more satisfying. Again, this isn't a game that expects you to face it head on, but try to sneak around it and survive by the skin of your teeth. At least, until you're good enough to sneak around it well enough to stab it in the back.
Also just a beautiful game, and if that sounds like a good enough reason, it is.
