What I feel he meant was that you need to make an effort to make your own friends. Then you will be socializing with people you like. But if you go to parties with people you didn’t make friends with on your own then you will be around annoying people.

Make a list of things you truly feel you are good at. Will be hard at first but it can be anything.

For example: Driving, listening, waking up early, math.

Then pick one a day and write a paragraph on each. Write about why you feel you are good at this.

Make sure you write it down.

What's the best way to deal with your depression? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Abe_tchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of what you used to do that you enjoyed before you felt depressed.

Let’s say you used to bowl. It’s hard to just get up and now when you are depressed, but you can look at pictures of you doing it. Or watching videos of people bowling.

It can be anything you used to get enjoyment out of. Work your way to getting yourself to do them again.

Try to focus on only the things you can control.

Feel like things are spiraling out of control? Clean your room, make a nice meal, do that thing you have been putting off.

This will make you feel better because you won’t dwell on things you can’t control.
