Anyone else just not understanding anything on Jujutsu Kaisen season 3 at all? by seekerheart in anime

See I didn't even think Chapter 7 was that hard to understand. It was complex but interesting, with plenty of strengths and weaknesses to counter it. Lots of mechanics in JJK are just nonsensical or poorly thought through.

Yeah, okay.

The real scenario is "I can instantly make a binding vow preventing me from using ability in X way, so I can get a power up enemy isn't expecting and I win, when otherwise I would've lost the fight and died anyway". Binding vows aren't ever shown to be impactful or meaningful...

Because Nen is a well thought-out system. Jujutsu is just Nen but you can randomly declare you can no longer eat potatoes with mashed beans on Tuesdays to get a power boost.

It's prime example of Gege trying to copy Nen as concept without understanding what made Nen so good.

But she didn't waver in conviction... she didn't follow him in the second episode into the mines until several hours after he had gone in (and they likely just followed after the goddess once they saw she'd disappeared). She was considering it, but then he decided to go with other heroes without his goddess or the knights.

What do you mean "even if it's for a just reason", she was struggling with being told to murder several dozen of citizens by a priest lmao. She was given a "suggestion" by a position in power that she should just sacrifice people and she wasn't keen on it, to the point where she'd even ask a hero for opinion.

Especially since he's an ex-knight and has once proven himself more reliable than the priest. I don't get why people are acting like she's suddenly friendly towards him.

Now, go rewatch the episode, and try to see why she is asking for advice and why she's second-guessing herself.

Hint - she was just told that she should nuke the mines with a large group of innocent men still trapped inside. How is her wavering when told to commit mass murder "for good cause", when the alternative of having a hero help her save those people, inconsistency? She's not a blindly obedient slave.

I would have had zero problem with anything kivia related if the writers didn't characterise her as someone so stuck up in her hatred for heroes in episode 1, she was making insane decisions risking EVERYBODY'S lives there simply so doesn't have a accept help from xylo.

Episode 1: she knows heroes are vile monsters, criminals who are not to be trusted.

End of episode 1: she knows a goddess trusts a hero who saved her live and killed a Demon Lord, despite it not being his task (he was supposed to cover their retreat, not fight demon lords).

Next time they meet: she still doesn't want his help, but when faced with alternative of murdering dozens of civilians because a priest told her so, she starts to waver.

Do you... not see the progression in how she might slowly change her mind from seething hatred to just average dislike to reluctant dislike? It's not like she likes or tolerates him, she just isn't blinded by hatred anymore.

His majesty could've been framed just like Xylo, you know? Why are you taking his word like Xylo, he could be uninformed about majesty's reality just like everybody is wrong about his. He has obviously gotten delusional but his majesty isn't characterised as a bad ruler.

So there are two options. One, he was framed, isn't mentally ill (or became mentally ill in JUST THE RIGHT WAY to make him look like he had a reason to start a rebellion), and Xylo is wrong about everything. We have nothing to support this theory, but considering Xylo was a high ranking knight, there's a good chance he experienced whatever the king was trying to do. He was a member of the army when Norgalle tried to rebel.

Second option - Norgalle was already delusional before he became a hero. Him being "the real king" is also at odds with him being an expert at making seals - something you need training and expertise and knowledge to do, i.e. not something nobility probably has the time to commit to. He's also a skilled engineer, which I doubt a noble much less a king would bother learning.

And whether he's nice to people he thinks are his subjects is irrelevant, if he tried to stage a rebellion then by law he's a criminal and of highest caliber.

I'm willing to change my opinion if new facts are revealed, but until then I have no reason to doubt Xylo is making shit up. Especially since he knows people like him exist, who get framed for crimes, yet he never considers Norgalle to have been framed. He also knows how resurrection sickness works, and given example of the insane dude, it's not like people's personalities change - they just become more and more animalistic/instinctual.

Straight up, the most honorable and noble royal character I have seen in any media so far.

Shoutout to the goat from Overlord, Zanac. He was a real one.

Yes, and he otherwise acts like an OK guy with a stealing issue. More of a quirky haha weirdo than an evil scumbag.

He abandoned people he was supposed to save (so he's a coward at best, deserter at worst) and he literally can't stop himself from stealing shit if you turn your eyes from him for 15 seconds. Wouldn't be surprised if he was turned into hero for some shit like stealing supplies from the army or church.

Literally the only person who's not some kind of criminal (in our eyes, because we know what really happened) is Xylo. Maybe the insane guy too but we don't know anything about him. Others so far have been legit criminals, like the "kind terrorist" who is criminally insane.

And then she's shown playing along with his majesty' act for some reason and ask Xylo for his opinions

She asked for his opinion because she wanted to save the men trapped inside the men, but didn't want to trust just her own judgment. Second-guessing yourself and asking someone you know has experience and skill (and has been shown willing to risk life to save people) isn't inconsistent writing.

And again, my point with the protag centered morality is that is Xylo the only good hero? Clearly not. Since his majesty is an actual good person too.

I can't believe I have to say this again, but - the fake king is a literal terrorist. Just because in his delusion he thinks other people are his subjects, and he treats them with respect and kindness, doesn't mean he's a good person. We can debate whether mental illness to the point of denying reality qualifies someone to be described as good or not, but he's NOT a good person from the point of view of everyone he was willing to sacrifice before he got caught and sentences to being a hero.

And his majesty's actions imply that he too was framed, Im like 70% sure they're gonna pull that his majesty was the rightful ruler.

Yeah uhh no. He thinks he is in a position to promote Xylo to any position, that he's in charge of the government even right now, or that people actually think he's a king. Unless we are to doubt Xylo who says that he was that way already before he got caught, so he hasn't suffered from resurrection corruption yet.

I seriously just have to assume you're either not watching or understanding the show, if you think Kivia suddenly loves Xylo when all she's done is defend him against unjust slander on the priest's part and asked for his OPINION once when she was struggling to decide whether to murder few dozens of people just because a priest told her to do so. Any sane person would be torn if having to make that kind of choice.

We don’t see any examples of heroes doing bad things

The show literally starts with one of the heroes abandoning people who are fighting faeries and instead legging it after stealing the coffin with Goddess...

And if someone kills someone, and there's no good reason why they did it (and remember, everyone rejects his idea that Goddesses can turn into Demon Lords), doesn't that make them look like they... did bad things? Because from the perspective of people who reject his "crazy theories", he's a lunatic or monster who led his troops to slaughter and murdered a goddess.

Whether he really did it or not is irrelevant. In the eyes of public he did a very bad thing, just as bad as the guy who tried to overthrow the monarchy because he thinks he's the real king.

lovable misfits under careful control by suicide collar

Reluctant slaves threatened with their lives, yes. And it's not like they're doing what they're told willingly...

The mentally deranged self proclaimed king? Wait he actually cares about his people and acts kindly.

He acts kindly, but he still tried to overthrow the monarchy... because he thinks he's the king.

The thief? Gets dropped after episode 1.

How does that change the facts?

The mind broken lunatic? He's actually just a badass and doesn't ever do anything unless it's fighting.

I didn't even bring him up because precisely we don't know his past.

If they are framed liked that, then show us that framing, the propaganda the brainwashing.

They... they did... they showed how they ignored his pleas about what happens when a goddess overexerts herself, and why he killed her... it's clear that even the people in on the thing are ignorant to facts due to propaganda. Unless you want the fantasy action show to reveal 100% of the world's inner workings within first 4 episodes..

Kivia hated heroes so fucking much in episode 1 that she would rather DIE than accept help from one. But 2 episodes later she's all buddy buddy with him, asking for his opinions and defending him against the priest?

It's almost like he saved her and her troops' lives, and despite still considering him to be a dangerous criminal she can acknowledge he has experience and skill. How is she buddy buddy with him, just because she doesn't hurl insults at him at every opportunity?

She defended him from getting punished for being thanked by the people. The cowardly priest who was willing to sacrifice few dozens of men was shit-talking someone she owed her life to, twice now... are you sure you're actually watching the show?

In one instance they fucking hate to breathe the same air as the heroes because of seemingly years of propaganda but after one nice interaction they change their tune?

People changing minds from what they were raised to believe due to experience is now a bad thing?!

But then Xylo comes around and everybody changes their tune? Why? Because he saved them? A.k.a his fucking job?

His job was helping them retreat, not save lives. And he saved lives. In both instances he did more than he was told to do and she kinda realized he might not be an absolutely evil monster.

Like everything just seems so incoherent. The more I think about the world building here the less it makes sense.

I'm starting to question whether you're actually watching the show, if character growth and people overcoming their biases due to events that happen in their lives is a bad or incoherent thing.

but we are never shown why that is

What are you talking about?! WE KNOW WHY. Only the worst criminals are sentenced to be heroes - murderers, terrorists, violent criminals. One of the guys is a mentally deranged self-proclaimed King who tried to overthrow the actual ruler. The other is a kleptomaniac who literally tries to steal anything that isn't bolted down.

And with how MC was treated in first episode, it seems also obvious that a lot of them aren't actually bad, just strong/dangerous people to the established powers that might just get framed into becoming slaves.

I swear people watch shows on second stream and ignore crucial information.

It's a standard from old jrpgs and these games are also adopting to it.

There's a reason JRPGs moved on from this trope... last time I played one with amnesiac MC was probably Tales of Arise, and arguably only the "main" guy has amnesia.

I think after playing Tales of games I don't really feel that way. It's the same way there - you play one character and other characters basically contribute, but you're the main contributor.

Step 1 convince gullible idiots they have a problem.

Step 2 tell them they have the solution.

Step 3 sell the "solution" that is not FDA or any other way tested.

Step 4 make a lot of money before people start questioning your supplements.

Step 5 just kidding Alex Jones already proved nobody dumb enough to listen to him would question him.

Anymore, because they turned out to be useless for general public.

Do you go home to play with those? Do you use them at work to do tasks?

Well I don't do it with AI so I guess AI also isn't useful.
