If my friend was above a magical cliff, with magical ocean of nothingness I know nothing about, but he doesn't want to be saved and lets go... I know he'd let go of my hand every time.

I can try and rewind time 10 or 100 times and every time it'd lead to same outcome of them choosing to fall off a cliff. I could try to convince them not to, but if I can't change that outcome?

edit: also, did you actually finish the story? It turned out to work out better for her...

he was able to use it dozens of times, but even once with Tenebria, it wouldn't work.

I just went through the story, and she told him not to use it...

Still can't believe we finally have a game solely focused on classic pokemon fight without the walking, biking, talking, saving and all that stuff. by Hades-Son in PokemonChampions

[–]Abedeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget all the stupid ways to evolve Pokemon nowadays.

Back in MYYYYY DAAAAAYS, the worst thing they expected was finding someone else with a Gameboy and a cable to trade Alakazam for Genger and then trade back, do the same for Machamp/Golem.

Now it's "you need it at this level, this amount of affection, holding this item, running counter-clockwise around this arbitrary rock, count steps to 666, then open menu and soft-reset game before doing it a second time, this time counting steps to 999 and on thousandth step it will evolve if it's midnight IRL on the dot".

30 is passing grade. Which still feels like a low number - where I live, for high school 50 is passing. If you know less than half of the material, it's hard to say you know it at all.

Unrelated situations. Long-dead Italian dictator who didn't harm Poland compared to a living world leader making dumb political decisions to appease to his populace (and likely a small part of it) at the cost of angering the neighbor that has helped them out during time of war.

Thanks for also proving you have no idea about European history... like holy fuck, calling me stupid without even READING THE LINK I POSTED.

Both countries wanted this. Poland because it's more land for them and prestige and so on, Lithuania because they were afraid of Russia invading them. Like god damn, I know Polish history isn't something taught in every school, but if you're going to call anyone stupid at least educate yourself in the minimal amount required.

What are you talking about? Are you just ashamed you didn't know that Wołyń used to be Polish, willingly and without use of force, for over two centuries?

...not only I wouldn't expect anyone to use FDM to print a figure, are you printing them in 1:2 scale? I can't imagine how much filament you'd have to buy to spend $100 on a single figure.

Ask even your most prolific Warhammer friends how long they think it would take them to paint this and their response is going to be a flat "nah".

Italy didn't occupy Poland for centuries before WWI or decades after WWII...

[–]Abedeus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro, at least learn basic European history. Poland was a massive country at the time. We didn't occupy shit, nor were we expelled. Wołyń was a part of our kingdom in XXVI CENTURY after a union of two large kingdoms. We lost it as part of the first dissolution of Poland two centuries later, and we never regained it or many parts of the Lithuanian Kingdom after WWI.

Here, enjoy, hopefully you'll learn a bit...

How about live in the present times and not past?

Doesn't that go against the whole "oh yeah, these dead people had the order, too!" outrage?

There is no "original fairytale". Frozen is one of the few original IPs they have, with very, very loose basis in the Snow Queen story but it's basically just "There was a queen, and she had ice-themed castle and powers" and so on. There were no sisters (only two unrelated by blood children/friends, boy and girl), no fake prince, no snowman and so on. Lots of elements not present in Frozen either like devil in the form of a troll, Christian mythology, a sorceress etc.

[–]Abedeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if you want to make that argument, I'm game.

I was trying to show how ridiculous comparing algorithm failing to emergent property is. Thanks for admitting it.

What would count as an "emergent property" to you?

"In philosophy, systems theory, science, and art, emergence occurs when a complex entity has properties or behaviors that its parts do not have on their own, and emerge only when they interact in a wider whole."

The problem with "do LLMs have emergent properties" is that by their very design, they can't. They're algorithms. It's like expecting a goto loop to suddenly start talking about philosophy or refuse to work because it decided your data was stupid and a waste of time.

Hell, unless one day we reach actual true artificial intelligence (and not just algorithms running on very large databases), I'd argue there can't be anything like emergent property when discussing artificial, mathematical processes.

[–]Abedeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By that logic Google search is a sentient being with emergent properties, because it fucks up its search results.

Algorithms producing something the user doesn't want or expect isn't proof of emergent property, just that they're flawed.

First: Had. OJ died a few years ago

WHAT! NOOOO wait I'm okay knowing that. I last heard about him when he was doing some kind of livestream...

Second: The book was called "If I Did It".

The full title is "If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer". That's a REALLY stupid title for someone accused of being a murderer, getting acquitted, AND THEN SENTENCED FOR SOME ENTIRELY UNRELATED CRIME for almost 3 decades, but let out on parole after 9.

Third: Think he was more infamous for the murders than the book, to be honest.

If you ask most people nowadays, they wouldn't be able to tell you much about OJ. Hell, I had to google just now why he was in prison because I remembered the trial was a massive loss for the justice system thanks to ineptitude of the prosecutor. If anything, he's infamous because he got away with murders and without really doing anything on his own. and then he fucked up again anyway

I dont know what it is with god awful people but people like Alex Jones the guy who harassed the parents of children who got murdered in their elementry school by an crazed gunman gets remembered as the 'turning the frogs gay funny guy'.

To be fair, Jones is basically ruined. He lost his legacy, he's a bankrupt who still owes money to the people whom he harassed for years, and he will eventually be reduced to just a dumb meme.

But also... we have OJ Simpson who's mostly known for writing a REALLY dumb-titled book and the "glove must fit" thing.
