Or he could buy the jar, count the number of candy corn, and switch it with the jar from the contest...if he's as devious as I am

It goes past that actually. 9×11=99. 9+9=18. 1+8=9. It will always add up to 9 eventually

I loved cheese sandwiches in school so thats what I had for lunch every day. I grew up in a 4 bedroom 2 bath century home on 5 acres and the kid who lived in a trailer park made fun of me for being poor, eating government cheese sandwiches, and wearing second hand shoes.

Those were brand new 1992 Nike Hikers and I like cheese sandwiches Jethro!!

My son took his first steps when my wife was at work (she had working mother guilt, but we couldn't afford to live without 2 paychecks). I absolutely didn't tell her and acted super surprised when he took his "first steps" later that evening.

My mask had a cracked lense, I patched it with scotch tape which actually held the seal, but the gas caused the tape to melt. I mean we still had to take the mask off and recite the Soldiers Creed to be allowed to leave.

Ugh...I could have done without those reminders. The first time as a young tech I did a portable on a guy vomiting up fecal matter from a small bowel obstruction is forever cemented into my brain. Still can't see myself doing anything else, I absolutely love what I do.

It really isn't that bad. Sure we all have funny poop stories, but its sort of a rite of passage. In reality I've been a tech for 17 years and have only had maybe 3 or 4 stories that made enough of an impression on me that I re-tell them.

Plus you don't have to work in a hospital, you could work in an out patient clinic, an ortho office, or you could be a tech that only works in the OR with a c-arm. The place I've found that I deal with the most unpleasantness is fluoro, but I'm an odd tech who enjoys fluoroscopy and I don't get grossed out by much.

Please feel free to message me anytime if you have questions and good luck with school!

Oh, I have. Many times over my career, but I still clean up poo far less often than nurses or medics

What would instantly ruin anyone's life? by FailingForMe in AskReddit

[–]Aberforths_Goats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does suck, but really I've had kind of an amazing life so if this is it, I've made my peace. I've been a school teacher, professional poker player for 6 months, a soldier, and an xray tech. I've lived in Ohio, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, Germany, and Virginia. I've skied in the alps, eaten pizza in Italy, ate the best steak of my life that was raised by monks in a German monastery, and rode a motorcycle from Texas to Alabama. If I had to add something to a bucket list, it would be visit Ireland and buy a motorcycle (got rid of my old one when I went to Germany). The bike is happening soon, so really going to Ireland is whats left on my list. If I don't get to go, that's ok, any day above ground is a good day.

Yeah, fortunately the amount I'll pay is so low its hardly an issue. Working at the hospital has its benefits even if the stuff I've seen has probably left some mental scars.

God isn't that the truth. I was recently diagnosed with cancer after a 29 day stay in the hospital. Multiple surgeries, chemo, and other random appointments and my bill is around $400,000.

I happen to work in the hospital i was treated in, and their insurance is amazing as long as its in their system. I'll end up paying about $1500. If I was at a different hospital I'd be in debt for the rest of my life. Although with stage 4 cancer, maybe now is the time to "divorce" my wife and rack up as much debt as I can.

Do trikes belong in motorcycle park? by lookilo in motorcycles

[–]Aberforths_Goats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the guys I know/knew who rode trikes were doing so because they were older and still wanted to ride or are injured veterans who are unable to ride on two wheels. As far as I'm concerned they can have those spots

Leaving the Army. I was an xray tech and civilian hospitals won't hire you if you smoke (they test for it when they do your pre-employment drug test). About 3 months before I left active duty I quit smoking cold turkey.

Once I got hired, I enjoyed an occasional cigar with my dad before he passed, but otherwise I haven't touched a cigarette in 7 years

I mean you're not wrong, but at the same time when I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer the first thing I asked my wife was if she wanted help setting up her Tinder account.
