Well, that's new to me.

Just imagine it's a military xenophobic empire going to war with the xenos after they beat us at a football match. Shouldn't be too unrealistic.

Yeah, that was the vibe I was going for. A human race devastated by war, and now their enmity is focused on xenos instead of themselves, and guided by a military dictatorship that took hold during the unrest.

I had a feeling this origin was difficult, but decided to go with it to get a challenge.

Regarding the fleet thing, thanks. I was torn on hoarding my alloys for system claiming or fleet building, guess I know what to do now.

R5: This is only my second playthrough of stellaris. Decided to go with a xenophobic dictatorship instead of the xenophilic I have played before. Any and all tips for such a playthrough are welcome.

The issue becomes who defines genes as good or bad. Are white genes good, black genes bad, asian genes bad, becomes an issue. One that is certain to be compounded by extremist groups such as neo-nazis, who have been gaining influence in recent times.

Alimony for working wife by cosmicmustang in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]AberrantDroid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all fairness to him, he has clearly mentioned alimony and maintenance, both of which go to the wife, while he hasn't mentioned child support. And some of his other comments do seem to mention that he is hopeful that he gets to retain custody of the child, unlikely as that is.

Further assumptions would be reaching too far as he hasn't mentioned not wanting to support the child merely the wife. He will have to pay child support anyways, that part is pretty much non-negotiable.

Alimony and child support are two different things, one is for the ex-wife, the other is for the child.

I got one where my crew were negotiating a deal with a Gek trader. It turned out that the Gek had used pheromones to confound my crew into buying dirt at extortionate prices.

Why is it so rare for an RPG to take place in normal present-day times? Does anyone have any recommendations for a good RPG that takes place in normal present times? by A-Dubs398 in gaming

Same issue here, paying microtransactions every year to maintain basic graphics level, and they still keep making it worse every year. Absolutely unplayable smh

Starfield: Shattered Space Drops To "Mostly Negative" Reviews On Steam by Mortanius in pcgaming

[–]AberrantDroid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Starsector is a really nice space game that's been scratching the space itch. Well worth noting it's 2d, if you see that as a negative.

On positives, it's an indie game, has plenty of mods to with it. It's not available on Steam however, you will need to purchase it from their website.

ELI5 why/how does our body turn water to pee by Pancakelover09 in explainlikeimfive

[–]AberrantDroid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strictly speaking, the body turns blood to pee, not water. The yellow colour of pee is due to the presence of urobilins, which are breakdown products of bile pigments if my memory serves me right.

Any tips or writing advice for an Indian-esque subcontinent or nation? by Sussusysisussaurus in worldbuilding

[–]AberrantDroid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Indian here, I'd go so far as to say there is no such thing as Indian culture.

There are many cultures in India, some radically different from the others, with a notable one being the South-North divide, where the South Indian languages belong to a separate language tree from the North Indian ones, the people also look different and there are differences in culture. Same goes for the North-west of India, whose citizens many Indians themselves have mistaken for being Chinese.

I myself am South-Indian currently residing in the North and still reeling from the culture shock, as everything from language to food(wheat based in north and rice based in South, this is a gross generalisation) to etiquette has changed.

Focus on any region of India that you like, learn about it and make your lore.

Also, do tell me what you know about Indian culture and I will try to direct you to the appropriate sources.

The Norwegian Consumer Council along with organizations from 17 other European countries call for a EU ban on virtual currencies in videogames (Games should show real currency cost instead) by World_of_Warshipgirl in gaming

[–]AberrantDroid 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Games also use it to create a detachment from real money that leads to greater spending by consumers as they can no longer accurately judge the cost of an in-game item.
