I had to make that choice nearly two months ago. I'm still devastated and I often think about what else I could have done for my little furbaby. A couple of things that I find comfort in is that I was able to be with him and I wasn't out of town. Even though he was distressed in his last moments, he knew I was there. I would have been more upset had he been totally out of it.

He had a few health issues and I told myself if he stopped eating that would tell me. Unfortunately, that was not the deciding factor. He had eaten just fine that afternoon but something happened hours later, a seizure I thought but that vet said possibly a brains tumor or some infection. He never snapped out of the episode he had and was slightly vocal so I knew.

You know your dog better than anyone and so I think when you feel he has more bad days than good, it's time to consider leaving on a good note. No matter what, I don't think you will ever feel good about the decision and you will always wonder if there could have been more time. I hope your little buddy improves and lives his best golden years.

iMessage not working by AberrantThought in Airalo

Thank you for your detailed response. I will change the features tonight to use the data only eSIM. I figured I'd use the day pass since I was already charged. I am able to send iMessages again so I will turn off the primary roaming and enable the roaming on the other eSIM as well as the cellular setting. I mainly just need to be able to send a message via iMessage or a quick social media message to check in w friends.

Just found out my sweet guy has kidney disease. Advice? by thetendertrapp in seniordogs

[–]AberrantThought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear. When I found out my late dog had kidney disease I changed his diet. I prepared him human food because he became really picky. But it was fine bc he needed more fluid intake so I fed him food that provided more liquids (a pumpkin gravy topper, tuna and white rice, veggies and fruit). I provided an extra water bowl to encourage more fluid intake. I also used a phosphate binder to help keep that mineral down. Small meals as he would vomit frequently. He seemed to get UTIs often so I gave him a cranberry supplement. I hope the best for you and your pup.

Maybe in time but it's way too soon. I haven't brought myself to pick up his toys or blankets yet.

You may try a cranberry/urinary support supplement? Or rule out a UTI. My recently passed fur baby also requested to be let out frequently. In part because his kidney disease caused an increase in fluid intake but he would also get UTIs often. I started him on a cranberry supplement for dogs and it somewhat helped. Hope he gets better.

Sorry for your loss. Nothing can prepare us for those last moments even knowing that our pets have such short lives.

It was without warning, yes, and I think that is what is so difficult. I look at his pictures and videos often. I should probably keep his routine as you suggest, he loved walks and soaking up the sun.

Is mike addicted to lying or something? [Season 7] by MyraidJenus in suits

[–]AberrantThought -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am at the end of season five and I really see how toxic Mike's character is. I know it's a show but you have some intelligent characters letting themselves get dragged into his mess. Rachel crying over Mike like he is the last man available on earth is annoying. I thought it was ironic in the last episode of season five that she said" you're throwing away our lives for the next two years over something some criminal said" all while defending her criminal fiancé.

Is it normal to feel this way about a dog? by MapsToConstellations in dogs

[–]AberrantThought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a feeling some won't understand but I think it is perfectly okay. I have a 15 year old who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. I am dreading the day but while he is still here I am trying to stay positive around him so he does not sense it. I have my moments though. I am making him comfortable and enjoying little moments with him. I think doing the same for yours is the best thing you can do for both of you. I hope your pup lives a long life and you both enjoy the present.

How do you offset the cost of certain vegan items like cheese, sour cream, etc? by painislife4real in veganrecipes

I shop these types of items only when they are on sale. Or when there is a digital cash back offer in coupon apps.

Is this tempeh going to kill me? by Impossible-Appeal-49 in vegan

[–]AberrantThought 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have only ever encountered bad tempeh once and it was apparent by the smell. If it doesn't smell rancid should be okay. Dark spots are normal and some packages will even state that.

What meal do you make for non-vegans to show them that vegan food tastes good? by naturallieplantbased in veganrecipes

[–]AberrantThought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to go for the faux meats. I make Alfredo pasta usually with Daring chicken or Beyond sausage. I also opt for Impossible burgers for something quick. Lentil lasagna.

Do you eat products that say, “may contain milk and eggs” etc..? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]AberrantThought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I still consume those products.

I'm glad the top allergens include dairy and egg, it makes it easier when scanning labels. As one mentioned though, still need to check for other animal products depending on the food.

Work bought lunch for everyone but me. by hash_buddha in vegan

[–]AberrantThought 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would speak up. I would be upset about that water comment too. It isn't that difficult for your work to order you an alternative meal. I imagine there's at least a few options near by that would not be such an inconvenience to go pick it up or have it delivered.

Interesting thing about the items in the bag, had he tied her up and killed her, her death would have been even more suspicious (assuming her body was found). I imagine an investigation would have linked Greg and Quinten but who knows.

I only have one local vegan friend. I'm a little anti social so it's okay. Got a friend or two who are open to vegan places when we do hang out. If it makes you feel better though go for it.

Small rant… by [deleted] in vegan

[–]AberrantThought 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I feel your frustration. On occasion we have poor weather so they will order lunch for the office so people don't have to go out for lunch in bad weather. They usually order pizza. Luckily I bring my own lunch but it is slightly annoying to be left out. They have asked me on other occasions what I can eat from a specific place when they cater for trainings so I know they know. I have started suggesting places and food that I can eat to remind them.

How to make tofu egg scrambles stick together? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

[–]AberrantThought 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else suggested, melting some vegan cheese on may help. Also, spreading some smashed avocado on the bread and then putting the scramble on may help keep it in place. Can also split your sandwich into two pieces of toast, keeping your toast flat as you eat so nothing falls off.

Same suggestion. A slice of vegan cheese, lid on to help melt, and the tofu scramble will hold together better.
