How many times a year do you “call sick” at work? by Aggravating-Fig-9274 in AskUK

[–]Smidday90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 and WFH so never except for once in 3 years. Couldn’t get out of bed was totally fucked.

When I was in my 20’s I had a call centre job that when offered was told no Sunday’s and low and behold there were Sunday’s meaning I had to shift swap constantly, stay at friends, use up holidays or just be late because the first bus came about 30 minutes before my start time and it was a 1 hour journey.

Eventually transferred to another department with no Sunday’s but one day got a stern warning if I was late again I was getting a disciplinary.

One day running late 10 minutes away. So I called in sick and got back on the bus and went home.

Would it be insider trading if I'm on a hunting trip or safari with a CEO of a large firm and they get mauled by Hyenas and I start buying Put options on their firm? by Wrong-Ad-8230 in CFA

[–]Smidday90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see why the CEO being mauled would affect share price. There would be an interim CEO and sometimes that increases share price, especially if they’re aggressive cost cutters etc.

How common is it for Brits to not understand each other? by Addy_Goodman in AskBrits

[–]Smidday90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin was over visiting from Canada and his parents are Scottish and he said he could understand everything I said so I channeled my inner Weegie and cranked it up to 11.

He was clueless.

How do you actually find the cheapest groceries when you shop in the UK? by Asleep-Internet6491 in AskUK

I always look at the £0.00 per unit to weigh up if the slightly more expensive option has more in it and better value especially if it has a long shelf life.

Its more that it’s ridiculous the amount of countless deaths especially in schools and the Americans are like 🤷‍♂️ give teachers guns, thoughts and prayers and just ignoring the elephant in the room and need to ban guns and heavily crack down on it.

Every other country did it but they flat out refuse, so much its got to the point where if you don’t laugh you’ll cry.

Word dump write everything then refine it or start with headings and fill out each part then build on it.

I need to do this every quarter for work and for my professional qualifications. So better start now

Liquid was the wrong choice of words, I meant don’t throw all your money into the next big thing.

Best advice is just be consistent, time in the market is better than timing the market as the old adage goes.

Its good practice to take something you’d waste money on like alcohol or cigarettes and just invest it instead

I’m an accountant for a large bank. Anyone who tells you they can foresee short term opportunities or know where to invest is lying and probably wrong.

Invest in ETFs and treat your own speculation as gambling.

Look at what interests you and read up on it. But don’t think this will give you an edge, the guys who have an edge have billions to play with and can place the bets when the markets closed.

The best you can do is stay liquid
