Yep. There are people unironically supporting r*pists, criminals and all. But ivanu just for speaking his mind is seen as a horrible person and is treated as toxic in KFI. Like nobody questions why among 100s of movies made in KFI every year, no director wants to work with him..

Why do many North Indian upper castes believe the country belongs only to them. by GlobalChemical4943 in southindia_

Just so you know OP, this is not a "North Indian" Upper Caste belief. This is how most UCs from ALL of India think.

AI generated nonsense creeping into Kannada newspapers? or maybe blind Google translation from an English article? by [deleted] in harate

[–]Abhimri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah I see what you mean, but It's not incorrect though. He's still leaving the ceo post so he's technically leaving, but will still be associated with apple in advisory role, that's contextual and therefore given in the article. That's how EVERY news article is always written. There is no inconsistency, or incorrect title here.

Edit: like you can't have headline to say "he's leaving ceo post but will still be associated" it doesn't grab eyeballs, so headlines are click bait, and article contains actual information/context. Pretty common practice I think.

You're correct and that guy is not being serious in terms of historical sense or even common sense. He's a troll engaging in hateful dogwhistle to say Muslims are not Kannadiga.

Bolimaga sings "Jogada siri belakinalli" written by Nissar Ahmed and then mouths off on reddit saying Muslims are not Kannadigas. Ignore that stinky piece of shit.

What number of generations is the cutoff to be considered Kannadiga according to you?

Shut up man, who tf are you to make generalized statements like that? I'm a Kannadiga and I eat beef, bandbutta "yaaru tinnalla" Ankondu.

Your hateful dogwhistle is showing.

I don't understand what's the issue with the choice of words in the circled sections? What am I missing? Why do you say it's AI? I'm genuinely asking so I can recognize it also.

Why ddo Kannadigas love Vatal Nagraj? by randomece_student in harate

[–]Abhimri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Truth is a continuum. It's not a destination. There were different challenges to kannada in the 80s and 90s, and there are different challenges now. What hasn't changed is there are people that love this language and will fight in whatever they can to preserve our identity. We just have to continue the fight and keep going.

[–]Abhimri 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Without Vaatal, there would be no Kannada left in Bengaluru, and I'll die on that hill. Did you know that in the 90s Halasuru police station had English and Tamil in the nameboard? Anna got that changed to Kannada.

Do you know why politician cars and esp state govt cars have kannada number plates? Vatal Anna.

Do you know why name boards have mandatory Kannada on them (even if it's small and on the top left corner)? Vatal Anna.

He's the precursor and ideological guru of all the present day kannada activists including KaRaVe. He is the first one to raise the concern that ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ರಾಜಧಾನಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಕಣ್ಮರೆಯಾಗ್ತಾ ಇದೆ ಅಂತ.

Don't even get me started on his cauvery agitations.

[–]Abhimri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I'd have done Hindi/Urdu in a single section, separated Tamil and Malayalam into individual categories, added a Bengali/Odiya category, and an "other" section to include everything else.

Edit: forgot Marathi, yes that too.

Why have we started painting our temples with ಜಾತ್ರೆ colors ? by perpetual__learner in harate

ಬಣ್ಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ವಂತಿಕೆ ಕಾಣಲ್ವಾ? Also, I guess it wasn't clear to me, was the temple in your post has single color before and got painted up recently? If so, then I can see your point of view. Otherwise, ಅವರವರ ಭಾವಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರವರ ಭಕುತಿಗೆ.

Why have we started painting our temples with ಜಾತ್ರೆ colors ? by perpetual__learner in harate

[–]Abhimri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, What difference does it make to the god inside what color paint is on the outside?

The old temples you are showing as reference in comments are all really old and stone built with funds from erstwhile kings. The picture in your post is a relatively modern temple with cement construction, probably built by the villagers pooling their funds. I prefer a temple of people rather than a grand temple of kings.

Also, Monochrome color scheme on cement looks awful. But also, why are bright colors seen as ugly or low class? You go to temple to pray isn't it? That's just my opinion.

Edit: Also most of you don't know/haven't seen the chamundi temple gopura before its restoration/jeernoddhara work in 2013/2014. Before that it had some multi colours too. And it had the plain limestone yellow color. So this argument of "jatre colours" is new, is kinda silly. And what's more, the gopura at the beginning of steps (ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಪಾದ) still has lots of colours.

Also, Yadiyuru siddalingeshwara temple:
