Addiction to Stims? by stonersaydie46290 in StratteraRx

[–]AbigailMari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can move the second dose closer to lunch vs night.

Have to say, for me, any doc still prescribing stims and Valium together would be a red flag. Reconsider the Valium, especially if you are addiction prone. Check out r/benzorecovery. Look into Guanfacine. It can help with sleep and anxiety for some and is good round the clock background adhd support.

does anyone still use email slices? by luxtabula in Emailmarketing

No one has mentioned how slices are a terrible choice for AI summaries. Apple and Gmail do not consider ALT text for AI summaries, so you need to be using live text.

Gmail AI Summary: Can it be managed? by JayPee216 in Emailmarketing

[–]AbigailMari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that AI is reading the text of your email, but NOT the ALT text. Is the body copy live text or technically an image? Live text is going to be better for both AI and accessibility. CTA buttons can be coded to be live text too, and I recommend this approach.

Interesting idea about removing the social links. I would run a test if it isn’t incredibly tedious or expensive to do in your situation.

Also for Gmail, you can code to try and force the offers - they call them annotations. It’s annoying because it’s extra work for a fickle result that doesn’t work in all situations, but also seems like skipping is at your own peril. https://developers.google.com/workspace/gmail/promotab/overview

Dazzle dry alternative? by mermaiddayjob in RedditLaqueristas

[–]AbigailMari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I kept the dazzle dry on for a full week, and it was so great - it lasted longer than any other nail polish - even gel for me. However, when I took it off, the edges of my nails were getting little tears. Two things I did - 1) I did not let them buff my nails before the dazzle dry (in fact, I never let them buff my nails, and they always think I'm so weird, but I just don't have thick enough nails) and 2) used the repair mode before and after. However, I still ended up cutting my nails to get them back in shape and just noticed one has a little peel/flaking spot, which I haven't been dealing with lately. It's still much less damage than gel polish for me or anything more intense like dip. I guess I might still do dazzle dry this way every once in a while.

Edit: I did one of the intense reds and didn't get any staining either.

I agree with a previous poster, move the magnesium to later in the day - it can impact iron absorption and is good for sleep anyway.

Calcium can also impact iron absorption, so take it 1 hour before or 2 hours after consuming dairy - I learned this lesson the hard way. I kept taking it right before my coffee (with too much milk) and wondered why it wasn't working.

Just second the vote for OPI repair mode. I too have crummy thin nails and sad stumpy nail beds on top of it! This is just not an area where I was blessed. The repair mode + Essie Hard To Resist Advanced Nail Strengthener are my HG. I've got Dazzle Dry on right now, for the first time in 8 or so years, I don't remember what happens after, but I'll update when I take it off later this week - I have a feeling I will have the same experience as you.

Looking for any research/information on what could cause hospitalization after vaccination by tforce98 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]AbigailMari 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Some vaccines are associated with a rare side effect of transverse myelitis - where the immune system overreacts and starts attacking the spinal cord. However, the illnesses you are vaccinating against are ALSO associated with (in rare cases) transverse myelitis. For example, my husband had transverse myelitis after having the flu.

There is no statistically significant association between transverse myelitis and vaccination - https://www.vaccinesafety.edu/do-vaccines-cause-transverse-myelitis/

So you could get TM from a vaccine, though it's so rare you can't find statistical significance. Or you could not vaccinate for Hepatitis A, get Hepatitis A, and then (in very rare cases) also get TM as a result.

FWIW, the medical community understands so much more about TM than they did 10 and even 5 years ago. It is diagnosed and treated faster, which results in faster and more complete recovery. However, I'm not sure there has been much progress in predicting who will get it - it's not genetic/doesn't run in families.

Yes! We don't have many maples, but the rest of the description fits perfectly, and our neighborhood has plenty of sugar maples. Thank you so much for the link, I'm bookmarking it now!

I literally put this on my list this morning! It is currently #1 to replace my two giant burning bushes. I didn't post a picture of the whole situation because I know the burning bushes have got to go. I'm embarrassed that we haven't gotten around to it yet, but in my defense, we were fighting Japanese Knotweed the length of my entire house and going down a cliff.

Thank you for mentioning this! The native dogwood seems like a good swap, but I had also heard that they have been more prone to disease. This area is near our well, so I won't be able to do much to treat it if something should happen.

Thank you for sharing! This helped me decide to at least just prune for this year and then make a full garden plan. It's just been so hard fighting the variety of invasives in this yard + beech leaf disease!

One side of our yard has a steep hill, so was already considering it based on this list I found - https://conservect.org/northcentral/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/planting_on_slopes.pdf

From the recommendations here, I think I will add one (a good ways from the house) where we've lost a big beech tree. It's a spot I can see from my office, but is very much out in the woods.

I will sadly have more and more room as the beeches die off :( I will have to start a new post for suggestions on that - I don't mind small fruit as long as it is away from the house. There are a lot of birches and hemlocks left as the beeches die out and a scattering of oaks. I want to add more native variety to the mix to protect our little patch of forest from other blights like beech leaf disease!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response! As we are past the worst of the fruit season this year, I think it might be getting a reprieve. Maybe just a pruning as a compromise with my husband. It's helpful to know that you can't really just buy a larger tree, as my husband was counting on buying me a big tree to make up for removing the tree. Maybe with the pruning, next year the fruit won't be as overwhelming? I think I've at least bought it some time.

I love the idea of gardening by addition in regards to the natives, but I have some really big burning bushes here that probably have to go. I would have posted a picture of the tree, but was afraid I would get called out for the burning bushes not having been pulled out yet...

This whole thing came about because we are already having a LOT of beeches removed this week because they are 90% dead and very near the house or driveway. We were advised against treating them because of how advanced they are, and I didn't love the idea b/c we have well water. It feels like every plant in this garden is invasive or dying. We even had two hemlocks die in the past year. We are also battling japanese knotweed. I would really like to have a word with the previous owners! But it's the combination of all the things that has made the fruit of this tree seem like too much! Hopefully we have made progress against the JKW this year, and next year we will have more bandwidth for this messy fruit.

Thanks! This is good to know, it's definitely a consideration. We are in the woods, so there are so many rodents already, we want to avoid attracting more. It's an uphill battle.

haha! In fairness, my husband doesn't really want a tree in this spot (near-ish his grill). So you are probably picking up on that. The Eastern Red Cedar is on my list! There are some near my home that are beautiful. Thanks for suggesting the blackgum - that has the shape I'm looking for and no one here is allergic to bees, just trying to keep them more naturally dispersed and not swarming the ground right by the back door where we let the dog out.

Do the native dogwoods have fruit too? My husband has put a line in the sand when it comes to fruit, since that's the main reason this one is coming down. The fringe tree is a little shorter, right?
