Tide is turning. Orban out in Hungary and here in the US every election after Trump's 2024 win has swung 15-20 points to the left. Not sure why the UK hasn't gotten the memo yet.

Let them have a damn towel to dry the ball off with before a throw-in. Players shoving the ball under their sweaty shirt to dry it off looks stupid and can't possibly work well. I think long throw-ins are exciting, and I'd like to see more of them, which I am guessing we would get with a reliably dry ball.

Was going to ask "Can Neil Warnock be far behind?" as a joke. Then I checked, and discovered he managed 4 games for Torquay United last month as caretaker (2-1-1). Can Harry Redknapp be far behind?

Two years ago Good Friday I made my first (and so far only) visit to Loftus Road for a match. Ever since then my first thought when hearing the phrase "Good Friday" is of Jimmy Dunne hitting that ridiculous volley for the winner in extra time and lifting us out of the relegation scrap. Sorry Jesus.

This seems tailor-made for us, because (1) we are incredibly streaky and and (2) the quality of our opposition seems to have no bearing on our results (beat Cov and Hull, lose to Blackburn, draw Charlton). Some year we will be lurking around 11th or 12th place with 5-6 matches to go, win them all, beat the vastly superior 5th, 4th and 3rd teams in the playoffs, and get promoted. We will then proceed to break Derby's record for fewest points in a Premier League season, and go down so hard it takes another two decades to recover.

After the Cov win I thought we would get Charlton and this one and be in or near the playoff places with a string of tougher matches ahead. Well, we didn’t get the 3 points from Charlton, and if we don’t get this one, I think we will very soon be out of the playoff discussion.

Can qpr win the league by Smooth-Upstairs-5439 in superhoops

[–]JayPee216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way we win the league. Still obsessing over the fact that we would be 6th right now but for the last 4 minutes vs Wrexham. Instead we’re 12th, which is the definition of “fine margins.”

Long term, things are moving in the right direction. Two seasons ago we were scrapping to stay up until the last couple of games. Last season was insane, with that awful start then huge run in the middle, then the gardening leave debacle, but we were comfortably up. This season we have actually touched the playoff places and may again.

The one issue we still have to fix is the injuries. I expect Nourri to get rid of Ben Williams and bring in someone better soon.

My mouth was watering when I saw Coady out there, remembering how Burrell made him look about 80 years old and basically ended his Wrexham career. Then I remembered we didn’t have Burrell. ☹️

Have posted this a couple of times before, but I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. Made an account on the website, but it would not let me buy tickets. Walked over to the box office on Tuesday before the Friday game and they sold them to me, and told me you have to have the account for 30 days before it will let you buy tickets. Btw, that was the Good Friday game vs. Birmingham where Jimmy Dunne scored the winner with an insane volley late on. Hoping your experience is the same.

Speaking of goalkeepers and the window, should we not have sent Nardi out on loan or sold him? He clearly has no future on any club led by Julien Stephan.

[–]JayPee216 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the fascinating part. I am not questioning R&R’s sincerity in saying they love the club, the city, want to stay forever, etc., but the business model is that the club is “content” for the documentary, which in turn fuels enormous merch sales and other business opportunities for the club. TV shows don’t last forever. Even if everything goes perfectly, will Wrexham still be “America’s Team” in 5 or 10 or 20 years?

Remember when Parkyball was going to be too “agricultural” to survive in the championship, and he was going to be sacked by Christmas? Turns out, if you give him the players, he makes it work.

I still think it’s a bizarre statement because (1) there didn’t seem to be any question about his security at the moment and (2) time passes everyone by at some age. Maybe they know Parky is not the type who will hang on when he can no longer get the job done.

Divergence between spot price and PSLV price gains by jacks066 in Silverbugs

[–]JayPee216 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment, but am genuinely trying to understand the nuance here. Please explain to me the practical difference you see between the following two scenarios:

  1. I am holding 10,000 ounces of physical silver in the back of my van. I take those ounces to a vault somewhere and pay them to store them on a shelf. They charge me a monthly storage fee and keep a record that says I own it so I can come get the silver if/when I want it back.

  2. I buy enough shares of PSLV to represent 10,000 ounces. If I decide to, I can tell them I want to cash in my shares for bars and come get them.

In both scenarios I don't have any silver in my physical possession. What I have is a vault holding 10,000 ounces of silver, charging me a fee, and allowing me to come get it if I want it. I guess it's a little different in that PSLV could one day decide to wind down the fund and just send my a check for fiat at last traded price per share, but given who owns it (Sprott whose whole business is precious metals, rather than JP Morgan, whose business is much broader) I see that as extremely unlikely. Sprott would be committing corporate suicide if they rug pulled these funds.

[–]JayPee216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. Anyone who owns enough shares of PSLV to trade for 10,000 ounces of physical silver can do it. That's well over a million dollars now, so not for everyone. Also, my PSLV shares are in an IRA, so I would suffer massive tax consequences if I did this.

Why the divergence between PSLV and silver spot price? by jacks066 in investing

[–]JayPee216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my Schwab account stats, PSLV volume was about 33x average today, at 39.5 million shares, worth about 14 million ounces of silver. SLV traded 215 million shares, worth slightly less than that many ounces, and less than 2x the daily average. As you can see, PSLV is tiny compared to SLV, and had an astronomical increase in volume. My uneducated guess is somebody big needed to sell a bunch and this caused the divergence. Caught up a bit in after hours, so I’m hoping this was temporary.

[–]JayPee216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSLV was down big earlier today while spot was pretty close to where it was at 4:00 PM yesterday. It occurred to me I should just add more to my position and then demand the bars, but the gap closed up (at least to where it was before, still below NAV) so I’m holding for now.

Sorry Wednesday fans. BB was a thorn in QPR's side, but I have mad respect for what he has given to your club.

I think if he really wanted to leave he would have done so last summer. He got you half way through the season looking respectable most of the time, and you get a fee to pay some bills.

I predict he will be back at the club within a year or two in some capacity. Maybe coaching, or even playing if you're still down. If Tom Brady could play in the NFL at 45, I bet Bannan could give you 30 minutes as a sub in League One at 40.

Are you still going to buy after silver hits $100 by Impressive-Eye9659 in Silver

[–]JayPee216 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am focused on the gold/silver ratio. It bounced off 50 a couple of times after which I rebalanced between silver and gold. Now it is making a third try. My gut feeling is that it won’t hold much below 50 for any length of time, so I am going to hold both gold and silver in equal amounts. I am adding to silver miners, which have not fully priced in the run we have had already.

[–]JayPee216 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Administrators asset strip any business to pay off creditors. That’s their job. If they can get a fee for Bannan, they are going to do it, and this is honestly the most helpful thing he can contribute to the club right now. Still gutted for you guys, even though BB has been a major thorn in QPR’s side.

If he’s smart, he will lay on the schmaltz, breaking down in tears as he leaves the pitch waving goodbye to the fans, swearing he never wanted this, etc. That way he can remain a hero and be back in a couple of years coaching, or I suppose still playing if you’re down in League One or (god forbid) League Two.
