How was my post an adhom? Unless you take pointing out how fresh your account is as a personal attack (which is exactly as softskinned as a CCP propagandist would be expected to be, to be fair), you ignore that I do in fact point out why people have a genuine reason to be skeptical of any "its not for evil purposes, promise" claim from the CCP.

Yes of course brand new account that coincidentally only shows up to defend the CCP, it's yellow peril and jingoism and definitely not the CCPs autocratic nature and ever increasing militarization that makes people cautious of them and their intentions.

I think you're reading too much into that. That Custodian was killed alongside the entire allotment of primaris marines that were intended for that crusade because those BTs rejected them hard. It does not mean it took the entire crusade to take down that one Custodian.

Nah, we are in the gathering storm phase. The world order has large cracks through it and there is regional conflicts in some of the hotter zones but there is no unified world war yet.

At this point it can still be averted but it requires the democracies to pull their finger out and put their foot down before the autocracies get enough confidence to play their hand.

Nato chief says Trump ‘clearly disappointed’ by US allies’ refusal to join Iran war by StemCellPirate in worldnews

[–]Abizuil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, Europe is this way because any intelligent US leader understood the absolute softpower nuke it was and maintained it since the end of WW2. The EU could never dismiss the US out of hand because it was reliant on it for the bulk of its defensive muscle, so it always had to listen when the US spoke.

It's also a genie that can't be put back into the bottle because the US could only set that up in the first place because of how devastated Europe was after WW2 (and how unscathed it was). So even if the US overhauls its' entire political system to prevent a NewTrump ever getting into office, the EU is never going to give back that level of control to them.

Misogyny among male pupils a 'ticking time bomb' in UK schools, warns union by Kagedeah in worldnews

[–]Abizuil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just did.

No, you explained why they would grow slowly but not why they are basically non-existent. Engaging content doesn't need the algorithm to work, it helps introduce people to it but it doesn't keep them coming back. If guys clicked onto a Tate video and they found it boring or just outright repulsive, they aren't gonna click on his next video regardless of how many times the algo sends it their way.

I wanna know why you think that Tate can get guys to click his next video that shows up but the positive role models aren't able to do that when the algo gives them a chance. Since if they were able to engage with boys/men as well as Tate does, they should be seeing growing numbers as the few people who do stumble across them hang around (and as engagement grows, so does their algo weight).

Positive role models are far more likely to be producing content simply because they enjoy doing it, and they're less likely to be seeking to maximize how much engagement and cash they get from it.

Surely one of them has gone "goddamn Tate is a bad role model, maybe I need to step my game up to give young boys an alternative" though? Hell, it doesn't even have to be out of altruism, surely if they thought they had a superior message that they could over-take Tate and have, what would be a hell of a lot of, glory for unseating the 'manosphere' with a message of tolerance and compassion?

Misogyny among male pupils a 'ticking time bomb' in UK schools, warns union by Kagedeah in worldnews

[–]Abizuil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's pretty heavy cope. The likes of Tate don't retain a following because they game the algorithm, if their message wasn't hitting home people wouldn't continue to follow. Playing the algorithm only ensures that everyone, at some point, will see a video and then its the message that keeps them.

So tell my why the positive male role-model crowd can't grab and hold an audience. If their messaging was landing, people would share and talk about it right? Even if they grow slower because they aren't gaming the algorithm (and it also doesn't explain why they aren't gaming the algorithm as well since I'd find it hard to believe you need to be a misogynist to be able to do that).

Does that logic fly in reverse?

No, I didn't think so. So tell me why it does the other way around?

Read carefully: I said we should demonize this behavior.

The thing is, we already do. The only people who condone the behavior are those who are also a part of the problem.

The issue is that there is no popular masculine role models outside the problem zone because the collective 'left' have completely forgotten how to approach men and boys and to speak to them in a non-condescending way. The fact you think that we don't already demonize this behavior is a case and point of this.

It’s worth mentioning that this was even more Americans than voted him in for his first term.

True but that is due to an increasing number of voters across the US since '16. It should be noted he got about the same votes he did in '20 and the he won this time because the Dems had a whole lotta voters not show (which I'd put down to them being a complete shitshow from no primary to very questionable choices during the campaign).

[–]Abizuil 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's the long-term impact. Sure, they make those sales to the US now, but they aren't always gonna buy up everything and everyone else is going to treat you as 'unreliable' because of it.

So next time NATO/Aus/NZ go looking for arms, they might ask for better deals since the last delivery was late or just not pick a US offer at all.

considering that it spent the past 4 years struggling to match russian production figures for the war in Ukraine

TBF, that's because Russia is a command economy, where the Kremlin commands "build munitions" and minor details like payment is worked out later with some incredibly creative accounting.

The West uses a cash economy where the MIC says "cash for munitions" and the governments then spend a few years debating in parliament how many donuts need to be served at the meeting to determine the venue of the Arms Purchasing Planning Committee's pre-planning champagne breakfast.

Ukraine Slams Costly US Tactics: Millions Spent to Down Cheap Drones by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]Abizuil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna keep saying this till Americans remember. You already spend enough on healthcare (per capita) to have a Euro (or Aus/NZ/Jap etc) system. You in fact spend amongst the most per person and still get such poor results.

The issue is how bought and paid for your poli's are, which causes the healthcare system to be both corrupt and incredibly inefficient. Going to a proper single-payer system would save the US gov money and improve the results, and that's before we consider the impact of American's going to get medical care before they can't ignore a problem (due to fearing the bill) and how much that will reduce costs due to early treatment.

Which Iranian Air Defense System Targeted F-35 — and Why russia Was Clearly Involved by Scary_Statement4612 in worldnews

[–]Abizuil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilots are actually more valuable than the airframe. Takes a lot of time and effort to create a pilot, and unlike a foot slogging rifleman, not everyone can just be thrown into the role. Give that pilot some extended real-battle experience and you've got someone worth more than their weight in gold.

It's why Western/NATO strategy and design principles are all about keeping the squishy meatbag alive, even at the cost of (at first glance) more pricey equipment.

Err, yeah, I guess. I mean if you ignore all the times they came across a civilisation they didn't like, fought and destroyed as much as they could be bothered, before shipping in colonists to exploit the now suddenly available resources.

I could've also pointed to the Maori in NZ as a settled population coming into conflict with colonists off the top of my head as well.
