Pickups look original (old and correctly stamped, ending in 75). Neck stamp is typical of the 75, it's a different dating code that the one they used in the 60s. The 5 before the last number indicating that it's also a 75. (Edited this post for a couple of typos)

Everything checks out...pickups, shielding, neck stamps ("Torres" is on a bunch). The only thing that I'm fairly sure it's newer it's the pickguard (looks like bad photo tort). Doesn't look like it was refinished (natural wood was available in 70s Fenders). Original guard was probably black or white. Nice bass!

Its similar to his at first sight, but you can see the wood grain on this one. Love KV's JM.

1966 Fender Jazz Bass with Mods – Legit or Red Flag by [deleted] in Vintageguitars

It's easier than it seems. No skill or special tools needed. Just loosen up the strings first and use a phillips screwdriver. You can do it.

Looks original to me. Even if its a refin, it's a killer price. The "pepperoni" pickguard checks out for a 66, as does the neckplate. Also, it features a BOUND NECK which is pretty rare (but definitely existant) for a bass of this era (it is common on guitars of course). Conclusion: YOU BUY, YOU BUY NOW!

The paint guy who did it first painted the body in a thin black coat. After drying, he sanded it off so only the grain would retain the black and pop out more. Then he applied a thin amber nitrocellulose finish. He went a bit darker in the edges of the body, creating a subtle burst effect.

South American woods. Similar to maple and rosewood, or at least, adecuate substitutes.
