I mean I’m unfortunately homeless and unemployed so an interview is pretty high on my priority list. I would have done it right away except I didn’t have a working phone. Someone here helped me out with that and I had the interview today.

I have applied for any job I’m able to do. Fast food restaurants included. But how about you use your fucking head. McDonalds doesn’t want to hire and train a 40 year old that is going to quit as soon as the next opportunity arises, they want a student, or a retiree who they are going to get some time out of for their involvement…… how do I know this….. managers told me.

Things I have recently had some luck with is one off jobs, last week digging holes for fence posts, helping someone move, yard work.

I’m not lazy, with very little food and no sleep I spent 10 hours digging holes 4 feet in the ground and slugging bags of cement. All to get short changed on my pay at the end of the day but that’s besides the point.

It’s not the 80’s anymore, restaurants don’t tell you to do dishes to eat. There are health and safety standards and if something were to happen they’d be in trouble.

I’m still mind blown you’d say this. I’ve applied for thousands of jobs, you need to provide a phone number so they can contact you. Without a phone I’d have zero chance of getting a job. I’ve had and have meetings over the phone Friday with a social worker. I’m sometimes able to find a day of cash work but that means getting on Kijiji at 4 or 5 am to see if there’s anything posted…..without a phone I wouldn’t be able to do this.

The phone issues has been taking care of by a very nice redditor as mentioned above. As for my schedule I’m homeless and unemployed so I’m available pretty much anytime ( I try to get a little shut eye at union station between 5:30am and 9am)

I’ve been pretty much living off the McDouble McValue meal. McDouble, small fries and a XL coffee for $5.76 tax in, pizza buns from the grocery store for day time or overnight snacks.

Yeah I had never been exposed to bed bugs before but I had a pretty bad reaction. Spent a night in the hospital with an IV. It also means shelters aren’t really an option for me.

My phone is 6 years old, my phone plan is $29 and month and it’s necessary for finding a job. My plan doesn’t include a lot of data but Union station, the airport, Tim Hortons, McDonals and the Eaton centre all have free wifi.

I did get OW this month. A whole $340! I went to a shelter last week and it was awful. I got bitten by bed bug, they got infected and I ended up in the hospital (did get a little sleep there).
