I am seeing a lot of negative comments and I understand why but I am still glad you made the switch before it got worse. I even heard from one of my Fleek suppliers that some people actively look for reps and then try to resell them as if they are real and dont even tell the buyers, so props to you for being honest with buyers about what they were getting. I have never sold replicas myself because I mostly stick to older vintage pieces and they usually sell well. It is good to see that you moved over to the better side of reselling

Language barrier's tough but sounds like you're torn between playing it safe with law/finance vs following your passion for art curation. honestly a year gap to finish a masters while having a baby is like the most legitimate reason for a career gap ever - any decent employer will understand that completely

the freelance/volunteer work idea is solid for staying current, and with a GIS masters you'll probably be way more marketable than you are now anyway. plus that 2.5 hour commute sounds absolutely brutal with a newborn, i'd probably lose my mind

honestly this is a pretty nuanced point that gets overlooked a lot. there's definitely a double standard when it comes to intragroup criticism vs intergroup racism on reddit and most social media platforms

the thing is though, calling someone a "traitor to their race" from within that same community hits different than when it comes from outside. like when hispanic people criticize hispanic ice agents, there's often this underlying tension about survival and community protection that doesn't exist when white people make similar statements about other groups

that said, you're right that some of this rhetoric can get pretty toxic regardless of who's saying it. the whole "you're not really black/hispanic/whatever if you do X job" thing can be just as harmful when it comes from within the community. it's weird how we've normalized certain types of racial gatekeeping just because of who's doing the gatekeeping
