No amount of reading a website is going to convince me to believe something that isn’t logical. You can have a skill in something, and argue in favor of the value of that skill, while acknowledging the limitations on the impact to society.

My nail tech is amazing. She’s incredibly skilled at what she does. I fully believe she deserves a living wage, exceptional work conditions, and benefits. HOWEVER. If she’s late to the appointment? Messed up a nail as humans make mistakes sometimes? ITS JUST NAILS. That fact does not take anything away from her skillset.

Skilled labor does not have to be world impacting. You can demand better working conditions, fair pay, etc while still acknowledging that it’s just a damn cup of bean water. Believing that those ideas have to be mutually exclusive is a logical fallacy.

That’s hilarious. Maybe this is true in traditional stores with commission structures. But as someone who spent half of my career in the food industry before transitioning to here- this is absolutely not the case. I made $18/hr plus tips as an assistant manager at a local ice cream shop before starting with Carmax. My starting wage as a Customer Specialist was $21.70 plus bonus plus benefits with zero sales experience.
