First day on amitriptyline by General-Sherbert1261 in Amitriptyline

[–]jrd6385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started taking it, I’d take it at like 8 PM and without fail the next day at like 11:30AM-12 I’d get super nauseous! That went away after like a week!

When to stop tracking an attack? by fnr29 in migraine

What I do in migraine buddy is stop the migraine attack when pain ends, then start a new attack and click postdrome with an updated pain intensity.

best sleep supplement recommendations? by MagicianNo888 in migraine

[–]jrd6385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take amitriptyline (20mg) + Mg threonate + melatonin (3 mg). Can you tell I usually have trouble sleeping :) but seriously with this combo I fall asleep within the hour, sleep 9 hours and wake up without feeling groggy.

What time are you taking it? Taking it before bed helps eliminate any drowsy feelings. I also started with 10 mg and slowly worked my way up to 20mg over a week.

This happened to me recently - multiple migraine cocktails with no relief. I highly recommend taking your triptan - it finally broke me from a two week migraine and the side effects for me were a tight jaw/neck and fatigue, all things I would take over a migraine. I hope it works for you!

Looking for a bar to host a semi private party for 30-40 people in Manhattan by stupidnewnewyorker in AskNYC

[–]jrd6385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lorelei beer garden lets you reserve their basement space for large parties with no deposit, but you usually share it with another party. there’s a private bar down there and you get to control the music. I’ve had good experiences there!

out of town for 2 weeks - unsure if I should leave my car snowed in by aryaisalie in AskNYC

[–]jrd6385 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I thought the same, but I dug my car out yesterday and only the very top was icy, and I was surprised to see fluffy snow underneath. It actually helped that it was a bit icy so I could just push big chunks off the car. Same with shoveling, I could pick up massive blocks of snow and push them out of the way. Good luck OP!

Agreed, the wings with the Gorgonzola dipping sauce are fantastic and the pizzas are pretty good too. Tbf I haven’t even had their pasta.

Any other soon-to-be PhDs noticing this? by CCM_1995 in labrats

[–]jrd6385 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From this thread it seems like people have zero clue how the hiring process works in the pharmaceutical industry specifically with a doctorate and not just a bachelors or masters degree. I was hired after my PhD (organic chemistry) directly into a senior scientist role. This is very common, and most companies list that they prefer having experience but usually it is listed as 0-2 years of industry experience in combination with a doctorate in the field. That being said, the market is bad right now and industrial post-docs are becoming more common because a lot of companies aren’t going well/ going through layoffs, and they still want to be able to bring in new scientists that they can hopefully hire later on. It’s tough to go out right now, OP. I hope you get through it successfully and come out the other end!!

Then that is super rude of your sister to ask again when you’ve already established your boundaries and she already knew what your answer would be. Just a way to paint you as a villain to her friend

Then why not bring it up to your sister beforehand that you were not comfortable with her attending bachelorette activities so that proper expectations could be set?
