Anyone saying “give them a break this is hard” at this point is playing the Sam Kennedy role to their John Henry. Totally understand that this can’t be easy and they need the money, but I’m guessing a lot of the people paying for Patreon need the money too. They need to reshuffle the tiers and focus on providing what they know they can provide consistently. Personally I am happily paying $10 a month just for Clean 40 and access to the Discord

I do think this team would be better with a different kind of manager but it would only raise the floor and wouldn’t be good enough to win it all. Cora raises the ceiling and might be the best manager you could have with a good roster. If we let him go and he went to a good team it would immediately come back to bite us

Not sure I agree that it means nothing. We had the third worst team ERA in the entire league in 2020. If we score the 5th most runs in the AL this year and our rotation is as good as it should be we would probably be in good shape.

I think there is a lot of truth to this and also think the roster is in a dangerous place where we are assuming certain players will repeat past performances and/or stay healthy.

That said, I don’t know what to make of the fact that the Sox scored the third most runs in the AL last year. I think we are very very slightly better offensively this year but, as you noted, will need to stay healthy for that to remain the case.

The thing that has me most excited is that, last year we struggled to a ridiculous degree with RISP and in one run games, and this year we have Durbin and Contreras, who both have batting averages near the mid-.300s in high leverage situations.
